NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Houston Texans waived wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

The decision comes as the NFL team prepares to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

After the Texans beat the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round, Johnson was visibly upset in the locker room.

The 28-year-old finished with just one catch for 12 yards and played in only 15 of Houston’s offensive snaps.

Johnson recorded just three receptions for 24 yards in the two games with the Texans.

The 2019 first-round pick has certainly been through a tumultuous 2024 campaign.

Before the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, where he posted 30 catches for 257 yards and three touchdowns.

Before the trade deadline, he was sent to the Baltimore Ravens and disappointed mightily with the John Harbaugh-led squad.

Johnson caught just one pass for six yards in 39 snaps for the Ravens.

The team suspended Johnson for one game after he refused to enter a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on December 1.

Baltimore waived Johnson on December 20 and the Texans signed him three days later.

A 2019 first-round pick, Johnson earned a Pro Bowl selection in the 2021 campaign.

He recorded his lone 1,000-yard season and nabbed 107 catches along with a career-high eight touchdowns in that season.

After that campaign, Johnson penned a two-year, $36.7 million contract extension.

While Johnson did secure a team-high 86 receptions for 882 yards in 2022, he also posted no touchdowns.

The Steelers sent Johnson to the Panthers for cornerback Donte Jackson and the No. 178 selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, which Pittsburgh used to draft Iowa defensive tackle Logan Lee.

Since that trade to the present day, Johnson has been let go from four NFL teams.

It will be worth monitoring if Johnson will latch on to a team in 2025.

He has earned $36 million in his career.
