Why Prince George will inherit particular title when William is King

PRINCE George is set to be king one day, but before that happens he will likely get a new title, according to a royal expert.

BBC Royal Broadcaster and author Huw Thomas revealed that there is one particular role that the reigning monarch typically bestows on their child.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Huw shared how Prince George could one day be the Prince of Wales.

This would mean the 11-year-old royal would follow in the footsteps of Prince William, who currently holds the title, and his father King Charles, who held the title from 1958 to 2022.

Huw shared: “I’d be stunned if it disappeared, only because the monarchy is built on tradition.

“It may not be an inherited title, but it is the tradition that the monarch gives their son the title Prince of Wales

“So it would be quite stunning if they didn’t. History tells us they stick to tradition.

“Charles barely waited 24 hours before passing it on to William.

“And you would be surprised that if in future William thought, ‘now I’m going to kind of ditch this one.’”

The royal broadcaster claims Prince William “probably” feels the challenge “to show that he isn’t his dad” and won’t “just emulate what he did.”

However, he praised King Charles for his time at the Prince of Wales.

Huw continued: “I think Charles did have a really good crack at it.

“I think even his detractors would say he didn’t really put a foot wrong in Wales, in terms of any gaffes and that sort of thing.

“And it’s up to William to sort of emulate, at least that that pattern, if not, you follow him in all the different different bits of interest that he had.”

During his time as the Prince of Wales, Charles championed environmental causes alongside numerous charitable initiatives.

Under his management, the Duchy of Cornwall used sustainable agricultural practices, such as eco-friendly farming.

He started his charity The Prince’s Trust in 1976 with his Navy severance pay of just over £7,000.

The Royal website claims this has “helped over 875,000 disadvantaged young people into employment or business.”

It also adds: “Waitrose Duchy Organics (Founded as Duchy Originals 26 years ago) contribute more than £3m a year to The Prince’s Charitable Fund, which The Prince donates to good causes.”

On September 9, 2022, Charles said the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge would now be known as the Prince and Princess of Wales as he gave his first televised address as king.

Charles said: “As my Heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me.

“He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades.

“With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the centre ground where vital help can be given.”

Charles automatically became King after Her Majesty’s passing at Balmoral.

William and Kate now go by the titles Prince and Princess of Wales – the titles given to Princess Diana when she married Charles in 1981.

The one hobby Kate Middleton is ‘terrified’ Prince George will take up

The sport in question is one that Prince William has enjoyed for years… riding motorbikes.

Back in 2015, she admitted that William’s motorbike habit terrified her.

Kate confessed: “He’s still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I’m terrified.

“Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.”
