One day left to grab 99p pints at 750 Wetherspoons pubs across the UK

WETHERSPOONS punters have just one day left to grab a pint from as little as 99p at hundreds of pubs.

To help beat the post-Christmas blues, the chain launched a January sale across venues in England, Scotland Wales cutting drink prices until January 16.

A total of 750 pubs are taking part in the sales event though the exact sale items with vary by location.

Customers have the chance to pick up a pint of Ruddles for £1.29 down from £1.79 – offering a 28% discount.

Or you can get a pint of Worthington’s for 99p, while Belhaven and Doom Bar are on sale for £1.49.

More than 650 of the 750 pubs will be offering a glass of Coldwater Creek wine (250ml) for £2.49.

And if you’re off the booze, almost all of the pubs will be serving low and alcohol-free drinks from £1.49 too.

Plus, 660 of the pubs will be serving Lavazza coffee, tea and hot chocolate (including refills) for £1.29 instead of £1.59 – 19% off.

There is also discounted food available with three burger meal deals available.

The average price of the meal deals is £6.52 with an alcoholic drink or £4.99 with a non-alcoholic refreshment.

If you’re heading to Wetherspoons it’s always worth checking for deals and sales that offer the chance to save.

You can usually see the latest deals on the Wetherspoons’ website.

It comes after the chain dropped the price of a pint to just £1.50 for one day each week last month.

And launched a Christmas menu at the end of 2024, with a never-before-seen burger, pizza and dessert on offer.

The chain also axed 18 drinks from menu in a major shake up last May.

And in a more controversial move started banning regulars from standing at the bar in some of its pubs.

A sign at the popular Roebuck in Rayleigh, Essex, tells punters: “No drinking at the bar.

“Once served we kindly request that you move away from the bar area. Apologies for any inconvenience.”

One drinker told The Sun: “I can’t believe they’ve introduced this. Surely being stood at the bar is one of the joys of the British pub.

“First ridiculous queues and now this. Standing at the bar is part of what makes the great British pub experience what it is.”

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

PUB-GOERS love Wetherspoons for its competitive pricing and low-cost meals – but did you know there are more ways to save money?

Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how.

Free refills – Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in

their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
