THE countdown to Christmas has begun as stores like Aldi stock their shelves with holiday staples, including a range of advent calendars.
As shoppers eagerly await Aldi’s highly anticipated cheese calendar, they hope the retailer has improved it from previous years.

Although Christmas is still a ways away, shoppers are already scouring the aisles for holiday essentials.
Retailers such as Aldi are ahead of the game with Christmas favorites like advent calendars stocked even before Thanksgiving.
What started as a religious tradition has now evolved into a festive coundown to the 25th of December.
Aldi sells a variety of themed advent calendars, including coffee, hot sauce, chocolate, candle, wine, and dog advent calendars.
The calendars will be available in Aldi stores beginning November 6, with new calendar varieties rolling out throughout the month and early December.
Along with the wine advent calendar, the cheese advent calendar is one of Aldi’s most popular.

The $16.99 Cheese Village calendar is 13 ounces and comes with 24 mini cheeses for shoppers to indulge in.
“Enjoy a European festive cheese experience,” reads the packaging, encouraging consumers to pair the tastings with Aldi’s wine and chocolate advent calendars.
Last year, the calendar contained extra mature cheddar, goat cheese, mature gouda, Mimolette, mustard gouda, smokey cheddar, black pepper gouda, spiced apple cheddar, sweet English cheddar, black truffle cheddar, cheddar with port wine, and cheddar with whiskey.
This year’s cheese advent calendar includes Red Leicester, Bruschetta, pesto cheese, Mimolette, aged gouda, extra mature cheddar, mustard gouda, hard goat cheese, cheddar with whiskey, black truffle cheddar, and black pepper gouda.
DAIRY DISPUTE
Many cheese lovers are looking forward to picking up a calendar and sampling the array.
“I’m going to bed. Gonna wake up, go to Aldi & get my cheese advent calendar bc I need cheering up,” wrote one fan on X.
Cheese fanatics on Reddit, however, pointed out a key complaint about the popular calendar.
They noted their disappointment with the lack of cheese variety within the calendar and between each year’s calendar.
“They repeat like three times each…there are enough cheeses for a different one every day!!!” complained one shopper.
“There are enough different cheeses in the world that a five-year calendar could have a different one each day with no repeats,” chimed in a second.
Another fan shared that they had purchased the cheese advent calendar the past two years and claimed it was “essentially (maybe exactly) the same both times.”

Aldi isn’t the only retailer banking on the advent calendar craze.
