A budget buy from Amazon may be able to help anyone with a limited amount of space in their home.

The affordable item will help to get your clothes dry without racking up your energy bills.

JVL’s Over Door Utility Clothes Washing Laundry Dryer is available for just £7.95 from Amazon.

Shoppers can also pick up a similar radiator version for the slightly cheaper rate of £7.49.

The door dryer provides a additional seven metres of drying space while the radiator style offer three metres.

Designed to free up floor space, manufacturers recommend using the item in caravans, inside balconies, and over doors.

The “strong wire construction” provides a sturdy frame for all your damp clothing.

Both versions of the dryer are also designed to fold away for easy compact storage.

The radiator version also features adjustable arms for heaters with different sized spouts.

Amazon shoppers awarded the items an average rating of 4.1 stars out of five.

They shared their experiences with the product in the review section of the site.

“Bought this airer for drying clothes in my dorm room which is very small and doesn’t have any hanging space,” wrote one buyer.

“It is easy to use and store, and dries up to 10 pieces of clothing at a time, plus delicates and smaller items.

“I leave clothes to dry at night, and they’re usually done by the morning.

“At first glance the material seems flimsy, but [it] has held up very well these last few months. Overall, it’s been a real lifesaver. Great product, for a good price.”

More winter laundry tips

Tackling laundry in the winter can be a challenge, but these handy tips can help you stay on top of it:

  • Use a Dehumidifier: Place a dehumidifier in your drying area to speed up the drying process and prevent dampness.
  • Spin Cycle Boost: Run an extra spin cycle on your washing machine to remove excess water from clothes, reducing drying time.
  • Indoor Drying Rack: Invest in a good-quality indoor drying rack and position it near a radiator or in a well-ventilated room.
  • Tumble Dryer Balls: Add tumble dryer balls to your dryer to help clothes dry faster and reduce static cling.
  • Space-Saving Hangers: Use space-saving hangers or a retractable washing line to maximise indoor drying space.
  • Microfibre Towels: Lay microfibre towels over your drying rack to absorb extra moisture from hanging clothes.
  • Partially Dry Outside: On dry days, hang clothes outside for a short period before bringing them in to finish drying.

These hacks can help you keep your laundry routine efficient and your clothes fresh, even during the colder months.

“I found it extremely easy to fold out into the correct position and hook over our kitchen window,” said another person.

“It easily holds two wet swimming costumes and a few other bits.

“It held up perfectly in extremely windy weather a few weeks ago when it had its first useage and for the price I paid, I couldn’t be any happier!

“Overall a terrific item at a great price that I don’t think can be beaten in terms of durability and price. You won’t be disappointed if you purchase this item.”

“Perfect for what I needed it for. Easy to assemble. Seems to be able to hold a good amount of clothes,” commented a third reviewer.
