In his interview, Tom Brady spoke to Mahomes about the strong figures in his NFL life.

He specifically referenced head coaches, bringing up Reid and his former head coach in Bill Belichick.

“You’ve had people who helped you in your development just like I did,” Brady said.

“I had coach Belichick and you got Andy [Reid]. We could have been drafted to a lot of other places and not have that type of person.

“Such a cornerstone of an organization. What’s some of the lessons you’ve learned.”

Mahomes took a minute to reveal to Brady some of the valuable things Reid has shared with him.

“Having fun but focusing on the details,” Mahomes said.

“I think that’s something that coach Reid has always kept with me, and he’s let me be myself.

“Obviously I play the quarterback position a lot different than a lot of guys.

“At the same time, at the beginning of the snap he knows the process that I need to go through, and then if that doesn’t happen, go make your plays go be special.”

Mahomes also shared that Reid isn’t afraid of calling him out when he makes mistakes.

“He holds me to those standards,” Mahomes said.

“He’ll call me out in meetings. He’s the first one to do it.”

“I think good coaches do that,” Brady replied.

“As great as you are, it’s great to have someone to hold you accountable.

“Even though sometimes you don’t want to hear it, it keeps you really sharp.

“Sometimes it’s like a blessing in so many ways, and sometimes it can be tough.”

During the interview, Brady also described how many people compare Mahomes to himself.

The comparisons are becoming more reasonable as the years go on, as Mahomes is on pace to pass up a lot of Brady’s numbers.

With three Super Bowls already to his name, Mahomes could one day be considered the greatest of all time.
