The best reality shows need a chaos agent or two to keep things interesting, and Netflix struck gold with Hannah and Nick in Love Is Blind season seven. The two may have found love in the pods, but it took a lot of drama to get there. An engagement and vacation to Mexico didn’t smooth the waters, either.
Still, even the most successful Love Is Blind couples had their challenges. Can this football player and former cheerleader make it work? Are they still together? Here’s everything that happened between Hannah and Nick on Love Is Blind season seven and what we know about their current relationship status.
Who are Hannah and Nick from Love Is Blind season seven?
Hannah Jiles is a 27-year-old who works in medical device sales. She quit her job to be on the show, which she says is a sign of her commitment, but luckily she seems to have since found a new gig as territory director at a company called HealthTrackRx. Her social media presence is the standard fare you’l find on a 20-something’s Instagram: cute outfit pics, trips with friends, and vague captions like, “Patiently waiting on my pen pal from 7th grade to get back to me.”
Nick Dorka, 29, is a former college football player—a kicker/punter, specifically—who now works in real estate. On social media, it’s mostly just posts about his business in his feed, though he doesn’t seem opposed to the occasional shirtless pic. When we meet him on the show, we learn that he likes to flirt but has never been in love.
What went down on the show?
What didn’t? Nick and Hannah initially connected over the fact that they’re both the youngest in the group. When he shares that he played college football, she shares that she grew up in a small town and was the cheerleader who dated the quarterback. While Hannah was instantly smitten, the other women in the pods expressed their skepticism—Nick gave off player vibes in their opinion, and Hannah became insecure that he might be manipulating her.
“He’s someone I think I would not want to go to sleep [next to] without makeup on,” she tells the women. Meanwhile, Nick tells the other guys that she is his number one.
Hannah tells Nick her concerns—”I’m scared that the reason you like me so much is that you think I’m hot”—and tells him that she thinks her connection (with art dealer Leo) is stronger. But then, later that day, she learns Brittany is also dating Leo.
Hannah worries that she made a mistake letting Nick go so soon and requests to speak with him. When they talk, he says he was hurt. She admits she let other people sway her opinion of him. She thought his confidence was going to make her less confident, so she hurt him before he could hurt her.
Nick forgives her, and they eventually get engaged. When they finally meet, however, it seems maybe love isn’t so blind. Hannah admits to the camera that she expected a football player with a bigger build. “What he said [in the pods about his appearance], I don’t think was really truthful,” she says. “It is making me feel a little insecure because I feel like I’m bigger than him.”
In Mexico, she starts warming up to him until what shall become known as The Duck Incident. The couple are lounging beachside when Nick announces that he wants to go ride on some child-sized ducks that were placed around the pool area.
“It’s gonna give me the ick,” she replies, urging him not to do it. He goes anyway, and an older woman nearby sees and decides to come race him. Hannah motions for Nick to leave and come back to their cabana, and the other woman sees and says, “Oh, she’s jealous! Don’t be jealous!” Nick laughs, and they move forward with their race.
When he returns to Hannah, she says it “grossed her out a little bit” and is clearly upset.
Later, when they meet up with the other couples, Hannah tells Marissa she thought it was disrespectful for him to laugh with the older woman as she told Hannah not to be jealous. Apparently, when they got back to their hotel room, she wrote a list of concerns—and left it out in a place where he could see it.
Some of the things she wrote down include, “Actions speak louder than words.” “Respect.” “Social awareness.” Yikes.
Despite the drama, the two are sticking it out for now: meeting each other’s families, cooking together, and living together. In an interview with Glamour, Hannah admitted that she could be a little hard on Nick, but that was only because she was taking the “experiment” to heart and wanted to be sure before they got married.
“I think that was the biggest [reason I was] so harsh is because I was so stressed out. Because I was like, This is so serious. And so I was being so serious,” she said.
Did they get married on the show and are they still together?
Unclear! In the preview for the final batch of episodes, it’s clear they’re still together when they leave Mexico. But for how long? Their social media doesn’t offer any clues, so we likely won’t find out until the season seven finale airs on Wednesday, October 23.
