Molly Qerim absent from First Take and viewers beg missing host to return as ‘wild’ Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo takes over

MOLLY Qerim didn’t appear on First Take on Wednesday’s show – and fans shared their displeasure with her absence.

Instead, the fiery personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo filled in – and he certainly brought the fire to the ESPN program.

First Take was introduced to Russo and Smith on the show.

Smith told fans that Qerim was off for the rest of the week and was ready to perform his patented energy-filled cold open.

But Russo cut him off in a hilarious fashion.

“No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,, no. I am the guy! I am Mr. ESPN Bet.” he yelled out to Stephen A. Smith.

“I am the guy.”

Russo referenced commercials in which he has starred for ESPN BET – the network’s online sportsbook.

“First Take is in the house!” Russo finished his cold open while wagging his finger in the air.

Russo handled the First Take hosting duties and displayed his liveliness throughout the show.

But fans still urged Qerim to return to the program on social media.

“Please come back @mollyqerim,” one said.

“Please come back to @FirstTake it’s unwatchable without you,” another commented.

“I Miss @MollyQerim but Mad Dog substitute was entertaining as hell,” a third added.

Fortunately for First Take, Qerim will likely return to the show on Monday.

On Friday, the show will be broadcast at the HBCU school Tennesee State University.

Home Depot shopper fumes over scanning item 4x but denied refund – claims ‘three levels of customer service told me no’

A HOME Depot shopper has been left fuming over scanning an item four times but was apparently denied a refund.

The shopper shared an experience they had attempting to buy water supply lines at the store on Facebook.

The raging customer said he “made a mistake” at a Home Depot self-checkout.

When going to purchase four $6 water supply lines, the customer “scanned one of them four times.”

But as it turned out, one of them had a different connected on one end, meaning he couldn’t use it.

The angry customer wrote on Facebook: “I tried to exchange it (2 days later) for the correct one.

“They kept telling me I can’t return it because I didn’t pay for it. I did pay for an item I did not receive, though.

“THREE levels of customer service told me no.

“I don’t want my money back. I just want the correct item.”

SHOPPERS RAGE AT HOME DEPOT

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Home Depot shoppers have shared frustration with the retailer.

One Home Depot shopper waited in line before realizing the store didn’t accept the popular tap-to-pay payment method.

The shopper contacted the retailer on X to tell them they’d lost a customer.

Latest self-checkout changes

Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed up checkout times and reduce theft.

Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at various locations were made available only for Walmart+ members.

Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed during specific hours, and more cashiers were offered instead.

While shoppers feared that shoplifting fueled the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.

One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would stop the fiercely contested receipt checks.

However, that test run has been phased out.

At Target, items are being limited at self-checkout.

Last fall, the brand surveyed new express self-checkout lanes across 200 stores with 10 items or less for more convenience.

As of March 2024, this policy has been expanded across 2,000 stores in the US.

Shoppers have also spotted their local Walmart stores restricting customers to 15 items or less to use self-checkout machines.

“Home Depot, you’ve lost my business twice because you didn’t have tap-to-pay at checkout,” they wrote.

“On my way to Lowes.”

CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN OVER SELF-CHECKOUT

The U.S. Sun has also followed problems self-checkout has caused at many retailers, including Home Depot.

A customer claimed he was forced to use self-checkout at the store as all the traditional registers were closed.

An employee offered to help Raymond George by scanning his things at a self-checkout register.

Much to his dismay, he still had to bag his items.

He claimed that transactions like this make it look like self-checkout is more favorable than it actually is.

“A manager once told me years ago that they close regular registers and force customers to use self-checkout to justify the high costs,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Since the employee checked him out on a self-checkout register, he felt “forced” to use the register.

“Next time, I will leave my carriage full of stuff and walk out,” he wrote.

Drivers warned to avoid costly ‘turnpike’ mistake as customers hit with urgent text message demanding fee

DRIVERS have been warned about urgent face toll notices claiming they have unpaid balances.

The texts also tell drivers that unpaid balances will result in additional fees.

Scam messages have been sent to drivers in Maine[/caption]

Scam texts have been sent out to drivers in Maine.

One message sent to a driver claimed they had an outstanding charge of $19.15.

It also claimed they would face a late fee of $57.45 if they didn’t pay up.

The message directed them to a fake website to pay.

The payment website is convincing but fake, encouraging drivers to enter their banking and personal information.

With that personal information, scammers can steal someone’s identity or gain access to funds.

They have been sent out to customers using Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA) roads.

The MTA has warned that the messages are not legitimate.

It also said that it doesn’t send out text messages to collect payments for E-ZPASS bills.

Similar scams have been reported in other states but this is the first of its kind in Maine.

In April, similar “toll balance” text scams were reported across the Eastern United States.

Philadelphia drivers reported to Fox affiliate WTXF-TV that they were getting the phishing texts, too.

Fighting incorrect toll violations

A legal expert says a toll violation notice can be disputed with a few simple steps.

  1. Double-check the name and license plate number. Violations are finalized by a technician before they’re mailed, and sometimes a simple mistake can be made. If the matter is as simple as someone misreading the plate due to a grainy photo, the matter can be resolved by calling the toll agency.
  2. If the license plate is correct but the car is no longer registered to you, you can dispute it by contacting your state’s transportation agency (ie. DMV) to provide proof the vehicle is no longer yours.
  3. If the violation claims it was issued due to a missing account and you indeed have an active account, the violation can usually be disputed on the toll agency’s website. If not, calling is an option.
  4. Dispute the notice promptly. Many toll agencies will impose a short time limit that drivers can dispute a notice, so it’s important to do so quickly to avoid late fees.
  5. Be clear when submitting a dispute online. The more details included, the easier it is to have the matter resolved.
  6. If necessary, drivers can submit a hearing to dispute the charge.

E-ZPass warns drivers that they will never alert drivers to an overdue balance via text message, and if the fake text is received, to delete it and report it to the FBI‘s Internet Crime division.

Anyone who believes they have been scammed can call the E-ZPASS Customer Service Center between 8 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday.

If drivers receive a message they are unsure about, they can check their account online at ezpassmaineturnpike.com.

With so many people calling and visiting the E-ZPASS Customer Service Center asking about the scam, drivers have been warned that the wait time to speak to someone can often be over an hour.

Alternatively, drivers can file a complaint with the IC3 at www.ic3.gov, including the phone number from where the text originated and the website listed within the text in the complaint.

The U.S. Sun has approached the MTA for comment.
