A CLASSIC car enthusiast is still reeling from checking the cowl tag on a beaten-up Chevrolet he found in long-term storage.
The motoring nut discovered that the car featured a super-rare design option when it rolled out of the firm’s Texas plant.
Classic car nut Patrick Glenn Nichols found this 1970 Chevrolet in storage[/caption]
The Chevelle SuperSport was one of the most beloved muscle cars of its era[/caption]
This one was in a sorry state when it was discovered[/caption]
The Chevrolet Chevelle is, to collectors at least, one of the most desirable muscle cars of its era.
While it doesn’t have the same name recognition as rivals like the Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger, it’s still revered by a cult following of fans and a favourite of connoisseurs.
Earlier this month, Chevvy expert Patrick Glenn Nichols came across an unrestored second-generation Chevelle dating back to 1970.
The run-down ride had been heavily modified over the years, with most of the major features swapped out.
He found it in a sorry state, up on blocks with peeling paintwork and the engine bay featuring a large gap where the drivetrain should be.
But it appears that back in its day, this particular Chevelle would have been quite the collectable.
The car’s records show that it originally came in a deep Fathom Blue color with a vinyl drop-top.
And when Patrick checked the cowl tag he found that the original roof came under the C category – meaning it featured the rare dark blue vinyl option.
Most Chevelle’s came with black or white hard roofs, making the blue vinyl particularly desirable.
They’re so rare that the manufacturer doesn’t even have a record of how many are out there and it’s tricky to find one outside of high-end auctions.
Sadly, the vinyl top was one of the features that previous owners had removed, but similar ones can be purchased to replace it in the restoration.
Patrick said: “This is the way I like to find the cars.
“All of us can find a car that’s already restored but we want to see how they looked before they were restored.
“What we do have here is a true SuperSport 1970 Chevelle.”
Tips on buying a used car
When looking to buy a used car, U.S. News & World Report experts have a few tips before walking onto the sales lot.
Set a realistic budget. Some cars are more expensive to insure and register than others depending on engine type, body style, weight, and the amount of doors. Before being swindled by a crafty salesman, it’s important to know what you can and can’t afford.
Researching what car would fit best into your lifestyle can save a lot of time. Would a sedan work better for your garage or narrow street? Would a truck meet hauling or towing needs? Knowing what suits your needs can narrow down your options.
Look into certified pre-owned cars. Certified pre-owned cars are backed by the manufacturer and come with comprehensive warranties at affordable prices. Some manufacturers have better deals on CPO cars, so research diligently.
Not all financing options are created equal. Depending on where you look to finance, if that’s on the table, be very careful about who you finance with. Your best option would be to get preapproved by your bank before going in to give you an idea of what rates are affordable, and to give a dealership incentive to meet or beat those rates.
Consider a used car inspection. Depending on where you’re buying a vehicle from, you can opt to pay roughly $200 for a used car inspection to have key components examined by an expert.
Consider a vehicle history report. When things get close to signing, buying a vehicle history report based on the VIN can help clarify the previous owners, maintenance records (if it was taken to a dealership), title status, and more.
Most of the original features had been altered, right down to the paintwork[/caption]
The cowl tag revealed that it used to boat a rare vinyl soft top[/caption]
The current owner plans to restore the car to its former glory[/caption]

A TODDLER who was found to be alive at her own funeral just hours after being declared dead, was rushed to hospital and declared dead for a second time in 24 hours.
The tragedy struck at Kiara Crislayne de Moura dos Santos’ funeral in Brazil, after she tightly gripped the finger of a horrified family member who saw her moving her hand in the coffin.
Kiara was rushed to hospital and declared dead for a second time in 24 hours[/caption]
This gave hope to dad Cristiano Santos that his daughter may live, ending the heartbreak he experienced earlier that day.
Cristiano, speaking on the immeasurable pain of the loss of his daughter, said: “We were devastated already. Then there came a little bit of hope, but then this ended up happening.”
The baby girl, 9 months old, was initially rushed to Faustino Riscarolli Hospital in Correia Pinto, Brazil, on October 19.
Doctors confirmed the toddler had no pulse and was not breathing.
The girl wasn’t in the hospital long before being declared dead by medical professionals, whom the hospital assures undergo strict and constant training.
Doctors had found that Kiara’s oxygen saturation levels were measured around 84 per cent, meaning the baby girl needed instant critical care.
There was reportedly also no trace of rigor mortis, which stiffens the body between six and eight hours after death.
However, after an electrocardiogram examination, no electrical signals were found and the child was again confirmed dead.
According to reports, the medical team trying to save Kiara’s life for a second time did find a heartbeat at a point in time.
An investigation is now under way at the hospital involved in wrongly declaring the death of Kiara by Brazil’s specialist Scientific Police.
A statement from The city of Correia Pinto expressed a deep regret at what had happened: “under no circumstances, any professional can issue certificates or statements without due verification of the patient’s conditions.
“All health professionals are constantly guided and trained, ensuring that people’s lives and well-being are always the priority.”
The hospital admitted they confirmed Kiara dead 16 hours before she was found to have a pulse.
Correia Pinto City Hall apologised to the family and promised their investigation will be concluded within 30 days.
A conclusive report is set to be released regarding Kiara’s case, carried out by the General Institute of Forensics.
1 day agoUSA UpdateComments Off on Fact check: Did Erik and Lyle Menendez really play Milli Vanilli Girl I’m Gonna Miss You at Jose & Kitty’s funeral?
THE Menendez brothers have again become the talk of the town for a bizarre song choice that was played at their mum and dad’s funeral.
A hit Netflix series shows Lyle and Erik, who shot parents Jose & Kitty to death in 1989, play Milli Vanilli’s famous track Girl I’m Gonna Miss You – but did it really happen?
Lyle (left) and Erik Menendez have spent nearly 35 years in prison for murdering their parents[/caption]
Kitty and Jose Menendez gunned down their wealthy parents in 1990[/caption]
Both the brothers opened gunfire on their parents at point-blank range, killing them on the spot.
The pair initially claimed they had no involvement in the murders and even suggested that they thought it was a mob hit.
But after a taped confession and a handwritten letter were intercepted by authorities, the brothers came clean about what really happened.
During their trials for the killings, the brothers claimed the shootings were in self-defense following years of abuse.
They claimed they had lived through their father’s sexual abuse for years and finally decided to escape his clutches on the fateful night of the murders.
However, prosecutors argued that the siblings were motivated by greed and wanted to inherit their parents’ fortune.
In the weeks after the murder, Erik and Lyle embarked on a huge spending spree and blew $700,000 (£530,000).
Erik decided not to go to college and instead hired a $50,000-a-year tennis coach to help him become a pro. He also bought a restaurant near the family‘s former Princeton, New Jersey, home.
The brothers’ trials were televised on CourtTV, bringing national attention to the murders and sparking admirers of the good-looking duo to write letters of encouragement to the pair during the case.
Did Menendez brothers play Milli Vanilli Girl I’m Gonna Miss You at parents’ funeral?
Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story explores the high-profile case that captivated the nation in the ’90s.
The show follows the real-life events in the brothers’ lives and revolves around the prosecution – and the alleged abuse they had faced at the hands of their parents.
However, the docuseries, which came out on the streaming platform on September 19, has been slammed by many – including the brothers’ relatives – for showcasing inaccurate details.
This has left many viewers wondering if some of the most gripping scenes in the show happened in real life – or have just been fictionalised by the creators.
One of them is the famous scene that shows the Menendez brothers attending their parents’ funeral.
The very first episode of the show opens with Lyle and Erik travelling in a car to deliver their eulogy.
Both of them can be seen listening to Girl You Know It’s True by Milli Vanilli.
As the song goes on, Lyle can be heard saying: “I f***ing love these guys,” referring to the singers of the song.
Even at the funeral, Lyle dedicates the same song to his mother Kitty as a slideshow of photos of his parents appears on a screen behind him.
Many viewers, if not all, thought the scene was fictionalised.
However, it was not an artistic choice to add the song to the scene – and the song was played indeed during the actual funeral of their parents.
Expert Rob Rand, who extensively covered the life of the Menendez brothers and authored a novel on the case, confirmed it to be true.
He said in a post on X/Twitter: “The Milli Vanilli song ‘Miss You was also played at the Directors Guild memorial service for Jose and Kitty, parents of the #MenendezBrothers, on August 25, 1989.”
He however clarified that Lyle never signalled the DJ at the service to play the song, one of the details in the show he alleges to be inaccurate.
Rand wrote in a separate post: “One clarification: Lyle NEVER signaled a DJ to play ‘Miss You’ by Milli Vanilli.
“The memorial was staged by Rogers and Cowan, a major PR firm, that was hired by LIVE Entertainment. They handled every detail of the DGA memorial – including picking the music, NOT the brothers.”

What happened to Milli Vanilli?
Milli Vanilli was a German duo R&B music act from Munich that starred Fab Morvan and Rob Morvan
They became a huge commercial success in the late ’80s and early ’90s – and their debut album sold over six million copies in the US.
In 1990, they won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
However, the coveted award was later revoked after it was revealed the duo did not sing the song.
Instead, the songs were sung by recording artists – and Morvan and Morvan simply lip-synced in the music videos.
The duo later alleged that they always wanted to sing but their music label did not allow them to do so.
In 1998, Morvan tragically died from an accidental overdose.
Recent developments in the case
In May 2023, the brothers’ appellate attorney, Cliff Gardner, filed a habeas petition seeking to vacate their convictions based on new evidence.
While acknowledging that there’s no question the brothers killed their parents, Gascón stated his office has a “moral and ethical obligation” to examine the new evidence.
This could potentially lead to their resentencing or release.
The court will review the new evidence and claims largely dismissed during their original trial.
It comes after the emergence of new evidence, including a letter from Erik Menendez detailing sexual abuse by their father.
In the letter, Erik wrote: “It’s still happening, Andy, but it’s worse for me now. I can’t explain it. He’s so overweight that I can’t stand to see him. I never know when it’s going to happen, and it’s driving me crazy.
“I need to put it out of my mind. I know what you said before, but I’m afraid. You just don’t know dad like I do.”
In the note, Erik described his dad as crazy and asked himself if he was a “whimpus”.
“I don’t know I’ll make it through this. I need to stop thinking about it,” he said in the letter.

HOME DEPOT has admitted the chain understands shoppers’ grievances when it comes to the self-checkout.
Self-service machines are a feature in supermarkets and warehouses nationwide, but not all customers enjoy using the machines.
A Home Depot shopper has shared their frustrations when it comes to self-checkouts (stock)[/caption]
One Home Depot shopper likened the experience to measures often seen at airports.
Carl Thomas claimed that using the machines at the hardware store was “like going through the TSA line,” according to an X post.
He also blasted the chain over how workers apparently communicated with shoppers.
Carl claimed that a lady yelled at him when giving directions.
And, it appears the ordeal has put him off using the self-service machines as he threatened to shop at a rival.
“Gonna be driving a little farther to Lowe’s now,” he said.
A Home Depot spokesperson responded to the post and sought to address the shopper’s grievances.
“I understand your frustration with the self-checkout,” they said.
“Thank you for sharing your experience. We will use this feedback as an internal coaching opportunity.”
The U.S. Sun has approached Home Depot for comment.
Carl isn’t the only shopper who has aired frustrations regarding the self-service machines.
Others have claimed that they feel like workers for having to check out their own items.
Responding to another customer, Home Depot said installing self-service machines was designed to streamline the shopping experience.
A shopper was left questioning the purpose of self-checkout machines after employees were reportedly scanning items.
Latest self-checkout changes
Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed up checkout times and reduce theft.
Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at various locations were made available only for Walmart+ members.
Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed during specific hours, and more cashiers were offered instead.
While shoppers feared that shoplifting fueled the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.
One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would stop the fiercely contested receipt checks.
However, that test run has been phased out.
At Target, items are being limited at self-checkout.
Last fall, the brand surveyed new express self-checkout lanes across 200 stores with 10 items or less for more convenience.
As of March 2024, this policy has been expanded across 2,000 stores in the US.
Shoppers have also spotted their local Walmart stores restricting customers to 15 items or less to use self-checkout machines.
Home Depot is not the only chain that has come under fire over self-checkouts.
Lowe’s shoppers have threatened to boycott the retailer after the machines were rolled out in store.

DISGRACED rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old aspiring musician after telling him he would make him a star, a lawsuit claims.
The music mogul has been hit with seven new abuse claims made by four men and three women made public on Sunday and Monday.
The fresh abuse claims are alleged to have happened between 2000 and 2022[/caption]
Combs in court a sketch in September[/caption]
Combs is currently imprisoned in Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center[/caption]
Combs is also facing criminal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking[/caption]
One new suit claims Combs laced the baby oil used at his ‘Freak Off‘ parties with a date rape drug.
Over 100 civil claims have been brought against Combs while he also faces criminal charges for sex trafficking and racketeering.
He denies the allegations.
The new claims allege abuse by Combs in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas dating back to 2000 but mainly in 2022, the accusers’ lawyer Tony Buzbee said on Facebook.
Some of the fresh lawsuits said unidentified celebrities also assaulted the accusers.
One new accuser said he was abused when he was a 17-year-old aspiring artist making small talk with Combs.
The pair were at a 2022 party in a Manhattan hotel penthouse – when Combs told him that “he could make him a star.”
The complainant, known anonymously as “John Doe”, said Combs drugged him with a drink he handed him when he arrived.
The lawsuit claims that Combs was known for dosing his guests with the date-rape drug GHB, mixing it in drinks and body oils, the New York Daily News reported.
The accuser says he went looking for bathroom when he started feeling strange – instead claiming to find a bedroom where several people were having group sex “including Combs, and another artist he recognized”.
Combs allegedly grabbed the underage boy’s hand and forced him to lay down and molested the teen’s genitals “for an extended period of time” trying to get him aroused.
The teen then managed to get away from Combs after saying he needed to use the bathroom and called a friend to pick him up.
Another of the new plaintiffs claims she was just 13 when Combs drugged and assaulted her at an after party for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
She said Combs and an unnamed male celebrity raped her while an unnamed female celebrity looked on.
Combs held high-society white parties with famous celebrities[/caption]
Cops raided Combs’ LA mansion in March[/caption]
The woman claims the attack happened after Combs shouted: “You are ready to party!”
She claimed Combs tried to force her to perform oral sex, but she fought him off before grabbing her clothes and leaving the bedroom, “roaming naked through the house looking for the exit.”
The lawsuits were filed in the Southern District of New York late Sunday, Deadline reported.
In response to the lawsuits, Combs’ lawyers referred to a statement addressing Buzbee’s earlier lawsuits.
They said: “Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process.
“In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, man or woman.”
Buzbee’s firm said it represents more than 150 of Combs’ accusers.
In the past several weeks, Combs has been hit with a flurry of additional claims of sexual assault, rape, violence, and manipulation by accusers ranging from music hopefuls to complete strangers.
Some of the allegations made against Combs claim they took place at the infamous ‘Freak Off’ parties he held over the years.
At the parties, Combs would allegedly film high-profile guests as they had sex with prostitutes who he flew out from around the country and use the video as blackmail.
BEFORE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest on Monday night, it had been highly speculated that the rap star would find himself in custody after he was repeatedly hit with disturbing accusations – and had two of his mansions raided by the feds.
His mounting legal troubles finally came to a head on September 17, when he was charged with three federal counts, including sex trafficking, for allegedly forcing victims to take part in drug-fueled sex parties he called “Freak Offs.”
The development also came after Diddy was named 77 times in documents submitted by prosecutors in the Tupac murder case.
Aside from the Tupac probe, Diddy was already facing a slew of lawsuits, including one he settled with his ex, Cassie Ventura, after she accused him of rape and abuse.
Two months earlier, in March 2024, two of Diddy’s mansions were raided by federal investigators, who seized three AR-15s, drugs, and 1,000 bottles of lube which were part of his “Freak Off” supplies.
In addition to his federal criminal charges, Diddy also faces a handful of lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking dating back to the early 1990s.
Music producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed one suit in February 2024, claiming Diddy forced him to hire sex workers and participate in sex acts while he worked on his latest album.
Diddy has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the federal sex trafficking charges against him, but his battle is far from over.
He faces life in prison if he’s convicted on all counts.

1 day agoUSA UpdateComments Off on Kate Middleton set for break to spend time with Prince George, Princess Charlotte & Prince Louis before poignant event
THE half term holidays are currently underway for many families across the UK – including in Princess Kate and Prince William’s royal household.
The Princess of Wales, 42, is said to be having a short break with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six – with a relatable celebration taking place.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are currently on their two-week school half term[/caption]
The Prince of Wales is expected to scale back his engagements for some family time[/caption]
The three children broke up for their two-week break from Lambrook School in Windsor on Friday October 18, and they won’t go back until November 4.
Prince William is expected to undertake few public engagements compared to last week, where he did three major visits, in order to spend time with the family.
Currently King Charles and Queen Camilla are undertaking their royal tour Down Under in the monarch’s first major international tour since his cancer diagnosis in February earlier this year.
Royal Editor at The Times Kate Mansey said on her Royals with Roya and Kate podcast: “It was probably not be very diplomatic for William to be doing anything too showy to detract from it.”
And there will be some exciting activities planned for George, Charlotte and Louis.
According to GB News, the three children are likely to spend time around Halloween with their cousins during their fortnight off school.
It is also expected that they will spend time with Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
Grandma Carole previously revealed on Instagram how much Halloween has meant to her over the years.
On her Party Pieces page in 2022, she shared: “Halloween is an Autumn highlight for me. I can still remember the fun and frights from my own childhood; the chance to dress up, decorate pumpkins and go trick-or-treating!”
She also shared how she had grown pumpkins that year and that she was looking forward to decorating them with her “loved ones.”
While Kate and William haven’t ever shared photos of the kids in costumes, they have been spotted trick-or-treating on doors in London in the past.
Meanwhile, the kids’ aunt Pippa – Kate’s younger sister – is also a fan of Halloween, and described it in her 2012 book as a “wonderful excuse to let your imagination run riot.”
The Wales kids’ cousins include Arthur, five, Grace, three, and Rose, one, from Pippa and husband James Matthews, and Inigo, one, from James Middleton and wife Alizée Thevenet.
They also have Archie, five and Lilibet, three, from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but they are based in California.
Kate’s next appearance
It is thought that Kate’s next appearance could come in November following the half term break.
In September, the mum-of-three revealed that she has finished her chemotherapy treatment.
Princess Kate had announced her cancer diagnosis in March and said she would be taking a break from royal duties to focus on her health.

George, Charlotte and Louis are expected to celebrate Halloween with the kids of Pippa Middleton and James Matthews, and James Middleton and Alizée Thevenet[/caption]
The family often go to their countryside home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, for UK-based holidays[/caption]
Kate said: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus.
“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.
It was her first public engagement with her husband since her cancer diagnosis – with the last time they took up duties together the Princess’ carol concert last December.
IN 2019, Kate Middleton was spotted at the self-service checkout in her local Hardwick brand of Sainsbury's buying fancy dress costumes for George and Charlotte.
Resident Kate Carter told OK Magazine back in 2020: “She was with the children, and she looked lovely. She is absolutely beautiful, and the children were beautiful. They were so well behaved.”
Royal commentator Katie Nicholl, author of The New Royals, added: “The kids love Halloween and Kate very much gets in the spirit and takes them out trick or treating.”
Kate is known for her down to earth nature and being a hands-on mum, and some of her favourite things to do with the children during the holidays is baking, painting pottery and arts and crafts.
“It’s very important to Kate for her children to have a childhood that is similar to her own,” Katie said.
