Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley claims band’s former manager ‘groomed and sexually abused him’ from age 16

SUM 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has claimed his band’s former manager “groomed and sexually abused him” as a teenager.

The singer has spoken for the first time about his experience of being “pressured” into a sexual relationship with Greig Nori in his new memoir, Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell.

Whibley was 16 years old when he met Nori, frontman of Treble Charger, who was 34 at the time.

They are said to have met backstage at one of Nori’s shows.

The pair spent hours talking on the phone as Nori acted as a sort of mentor figure to Whibley.

Eventually, Nori became Sum 41’s manager, producing their music, inviting them to parties and raves and helping them make industry connections.

Whibley describes being “passionately” kissed by Nori in a bathroom during a night when he was 18.

He describes being “in shock” and “confused” – having never been attracted to men before.

Nori is accused of persuading Whibley to explore their connection further by telling him many rockers were “queer”, adding: “most people are bisexual; they’re just too afraid to admit it.”

Whibley writes in his new book: “He was so relentless and convincing that after a while, I started to believe that maybe he was right.”

After experimenting with his sexuality for a few months, Whibley wanted to end their physical encounters.

However, Nori is accused of breaking into a rage when he tried to end things.

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

Whibley continued: “He told me this was all my fault to begin with because I should never have said yes to it in the first place.

“I started this and now he was in it with me so I couldn’t just stop.”

After Nori’s physical encounters ended, Whibley says he was verbally abused as Sum 41’s success soared.

He is believed to have been fired as the band’s managed in 2004.

Sum 41 had hits including Fat Lip and In Too Deep after forming in the 90s.

Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell is out Tuesday, October 8.

Txiki Begiristain to leave Man City as key Pep Guardiola ally makes decision with manager’s future up in the air

MANCHESTER City supremo Txiki Begiristain is leaving the Premier League champions at the end of the season.

And the imminent departure of sporting director Begiristain will only increase speculation about the future of boss Pep Guardiola.

Managre Pep Guardiola won’t have Txiki Begiristain’s assistance next season[/caption]

Begiristain, 60, joined City from Barcelona in 2012 and was instrumental in bringing Guardiola to the Etithad in 2015 to spark the most successful period in the club’s history.

But SunSport can reveal this campaign will be the last for an executive who has also been at the heart of City’s ongoing disputes with the Premier League.

It is understood the club is already well down the road with identifying a preferred successor to Begiristain.

The news comes shortly after positive noises emerged from City about the possibility of Guardiola extending his current deal beyond the end of this season.

Guadiola’s future is not necessarily tied in with that of Begiristain and the club would be very reluctant to say goodbye to the two most important people in their football operation in the same summer.

But the prospect of losing key ally Begiristain, especially after a season which will be dominated by off-field events, will surely be a factor in Guardiola’s decision.

The pair have known each other for more than 30 years after being team-mates in the Barcelona team that won the club’s first European title in 1992.

Begiristain became director of football at the Camp Nou in 2003.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Under him, Guardiola was given the job of head coach in 2008 and they enjoyed two successful seasons together before Begiristain left in the wake of the departure of president Joan Laporta.

Begiristain arrived at City a month after former Barcelona chief executive Ferran Soriano, who has held the same role at the Etihad for 12 years.

Their long-term plan to reunite with Guardiola and build a dynasty at the Etihad came to fruition in 2015.

City have won 15 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the crowns of European and world champions with the three men at the helm.

But the club has also found itself at the centre of the biggest row in Premier League history.

A hearing is underway into allegations that City broke PL rules more than 100 times in relation to sponsorship deals, player and manager contracts, and failure to cooperate with an investigation.

City deny all the charges. An initial verdict is expected in the spring, but the saga is unlikely to end there and Begiristain will be gone before everything is resolved.

And so might Guardiola.

Man City vs the Premier League: Q&A

By Martin Lipton

BOTH Manchester City and the Premier League were claiming a win after their legal scrap over Associated Party Transactions.

SunSport sifts the claims to try to explain the latest issues.

What was the case about?

City were furious that Prem bosses brought in new tougher regulations – by the smallest possible majority under League rules – in February. They were aimed at blocking clubs bypassing financial controls by earning “unfair” amounts via sponsorship from a company with the same owners, or selling players on the cheap to teams under the same ownership umbrella.

Why were City so upset?

The Etihad club argued that the rules were illegal and had been deliberately aimed at them by rivals and were both flawed and politically driven. They also branded the “two thirds support” rule that has been part of Prem regulations since its inception as a “tyranny of the majority”

This was an Arbitration Tribunal – explain that?

Under Prem rules, any club has the right to ask for Arbitration if they are unhappy about the regulations or due process. The three retired judges heard evidence in June and their full ruling was distributed to the 20 Prem clubs on Monday afternoon.

And what did they say?

Depending on who you listen to, they either totally vindicated one side or the other. The actual answer is that there were “wins” for both City and the Prem. But it’s your choice which ones meant more.

OK, what were City’s wins?

Maybe the most important one in terms of the repercussions. That both the new rules and the previous version – brought  in after Saudi Arabia’s PIF bought Newcastle in 2021 –  were “unlawful” as they exclude shareholder loans to clubs in any APT calculations.  City also won over their claims that the rulebook prevented them from responding to Prem decisions over whether two proposed deals with Abu Dhabi companies represented “Fair Market Value”, access to the “databank” of comparable deals and the time it took for decisions to be reached.

That sounds pretty big. So what about the Prem’s side?

The key finding as far as the League is concerned is that the Tribunal backed the concept of APT rules as well as the Fair Market Value tests. Additionally, City’s challenges to the actual decisions on the two proposed deals “failed”. Prem bosses insist the “rulebook has been found to comply with competition and public law standards and is an effective and necessary system”.

Is that it, then?

Of course not. That shareholder loan issue is a big deal, given that it is believed owners have loaned around £1.5bn at low or preferential rates across the Prem. Those loans will almost certainly have to be calculated at commercial rates now, unless the owners convert them into shares. But the League is convinced the main thrust of the rules remains valid.

And what will be the impact on the “115 charges” case?

Probably nothing. That is an allegation of breaking the rules, while this matter was City questioning whether one small element of the current rulebook was legitimate. But City are using the same legal team, headed by £10,000 per hour Lord Pannick KC. And the stakes on the bigger case are a great deal higher.

Premier League cult hero on brink of being SACKED with board meeting to decide his fate postponed

LIVERPOOL legend Dirk Kuyt is facing the the sack as Beerschot manager ahead of a crucial board meeting.

Kuyt, 44, took over the Belgian outfit last year while they were playing in the second division and gained promotion at the first time of asking.

However, the Dutch tactician’s success hasn’t continued in the top flight as he is winless and bottom of the table after losing a staggering eight out of 10 matches.

According to AD, a board meeting had been booked at Beerschot for Tuesday to discuss the former midfielder’s future.

The same report claims that meeting, though, has been postponed at the request of lawyers.

Meanwhile, the club’s majority shareholders, who are from Saudi Arabia, are said to still be keen on keeping Kuyt in charge for at least the foreseeable future.

However, Beerschot’s recent run of results doesn’t make for pleasant reading.

Nevertheless, if the ex-Netherlands international leaves then he could be paid the remainder of his contact, which runs until 2026 after penning fresh terms in the summer.

Kuyt hasn’t had it easy in Belgium as he complained on Friday after his side’s 2-2 draw at Westerlo about the lack of a training ground.

The Belgian side works out at the Olympic Stadium, which is now set to host more games and training.

That is after the Dutchman deemed the previous training ground unplayable.

Kuyt joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in 2006 and went on to amass a total of 71 goals and 41 assists in 285 appearances.

The former Den Haag boss won the League Cup and helped the Reds make it to the 2007 Champions League final, which they lost to AC Milan, during his six-year stint at Anfield.

1000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton breaks down in tears and vows to ‘start new life’ in show sneak peek filmed before arrest

1000-LB. SISTERS’ Amy Slaton breaks down in tears as she vows to ‘start a new life’ in show sneak peek that was filmed before her arrest.

In a preview from tonight’s season premiere, Amy, 36, struggles to contain her emotions while talking about her divorce from Michael Halterman, 41, last year.

Speaking to her sister Amanda, 43, the reality star says she wants to get rid of her couches as they remind her of the mill operator.

The conversation soon shifts to her mental health, physical health, and even her appearance.

Amy reveals she’s ready for a fresh start, wants to change her hair, and is looking forward to removing her excess skin.

She admits: “I wanna get rid of these couches cos they remind me of Michael and I can’t stand them and I want to get rid of them.”

Her sibling replies: “You’re gonna have to make new memories here that show the bad ones out. You don’t give yourself enough credit, you can do this.”

After receiving the encouragement, Amy says: “Right now, I’m just gonna focus on me and my mental health, my physical health, my outer appearance, I’m ready to change up the hair colour, I just wanna get some new hair and get rid of all this excess skin.”

In a piece-to-camera, she adds: “I’m just ready to start a new life and I need to have skin removal. I feel like a deflated balloon.

“So, I’m excited to see Dr Smith and hopefully I’ll get approved for the skin removal.

“Because I’m struggling right now to love myself but eventually I’m gonna find a way to love myself. Just keep it one second at a time.”

The scenes were filmed before Amy was caught with suspected magic mushrooms and weed when she was arrested on drugs and child endangerment charges at a zoo.

The TLC star was held along with her friend Brian Scott Lovvorn on Labor Day in Crockett County, Tennessee.

Last month, sheriff deputies were called to West Tennesse Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee, about 45 minutes northwest of Jackson, after Amy claimed a camel bit her.

Amy and Brian were going through the park’s drive-through safari feeding camels from their car when the animal bit her, the 1000-lb Sisters star said.

But when sheriff officials arrived to aid the victim, an overwhelming smell came from their vehicle.

Police searched the pair’s car and found suspected psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, prompting cops to arrest Amy and Lovvern.

Two children under the age of 8 were also present when the pair were arrested, sheriff officials said.

The children were released to a relative while the pair were taken to jail.

HALLUCINATED BITE?

Jon Conley, one of the safari park’s owners, told TMZ he does not believe Amy’s claims.

The owner told the outlet that the cut above Amy’s elbow did not resemble a camel bite because “the skin was fileted open”, and there was no bruised tissue.

Jon also said the park has combed through surveillance footage to back her claims, but nothing has come up.

Photos obtained by the outlet showed Amy on a stretcher with a shirt wrapped around her elbow area.

Jon said thousands of guests visit the park’s drive-through safari without incident.

The U.S. Sun since learned that Amy and Brian remained in custody as of Tuesday after they appeared before Judge Paul Conley.

BOND ARRANGEMENTS

The judge set a $10,000 bond for both suspects, who are charged with illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule VI, and two counts of child endangerment.

Stephen Sutton, a Crockett County Sheriff’s Department public information officer, told The U.S. Sun, “Amy and Brian are still in the sheriff’s custody.

“They went before Judge Paul Conley this morning, and he gave them each $10,000 bond.

“They are awaiting on family and financial arrangements to be set up to be bonded out.

“The officers observed in the car what they believed to be mushrooms and they also smelled and did observe what they believed to be marijuana.

“That has been sent off for laboratory testing.

“She had two kids in the car who were under the age of eight, so that’s why each of them have two charges of child endangerment as well.

“I can’t say whether those kids are hers because they are protected under juvenile laws, but they were not hurt and they are not in safe custody.

“Department of Children’s Services was involved and the children were released to a relative caregiver to take care of them.

“DCS and the judge will work together to determine their parenting situation.”

Amy Slaton's Arrest

The 1000-Lb. Sisters star was booked into Crockett County Jail in Tennessee on Monday, September 2.

  • The TLC star spent her Labor Day at Tennessee Safari Park with her friend Brian Lovvorn and two small children.
  • The drive-through park allows people to feed the zoo animals from their cars.
  • A staffer at the zoo called 911, claiming Amy had been bitten by a camel and was bleeding.
  • Police arrived on the scene, where Amy said she was bit and was taken away on a stretcher.
  • Authorities were immediately met with an overwhelming odor from Amy and Brian’s car.
  • They discovered marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms inside the vehicle.
  • Amy and Brian were each arrested and charged with drug possession and child endangerment.
  • They were booked into Crockett County Jail and were released soon after on a $10,000 bond each.
  • Tennessee Safari Park co-owner Claude Conley refuted the claims that Amy had ever been bit.

AMY’S SINGLE LIFE

Amy has been dealing with a series of heartbreaks following her divorce from her ex-husband.

The exes, who share two kids, including Gage, 3, and Gleen, 1, split in 2023.

Following her divorce, Amy emerged on the dating scene and started a relationship with Tony Rodgers.

However, The U.S. Sun confirmed the couple’s romance did not last as they split after he spent most of his time with his children.

In mid-February, Amy revealed that she went on her third date with her new man, Kevin.

In a TikTok video, she reposted screenshots from their dinner date at Red Lobster.

It’s unclear what her relationship is with Brian.

Female ref, 24, denies starring in sex tape with referees’ observer, 61, as she’s hit with lifetime ban from football

A FEMALE ref has landed a lifetime ban – after allegedly featuring in a sex tape with an official almost three times her age.

Elif Karaarslan, 24, has refereed matches in Turkey since injury forced her to quit playing football.

But the TFF, Turkey’s FA, has now banned her for life after she was reportedly filmed having sex with referees’ observer Orhan Erdemir.

Former Fifa official Erdemir, 61, has received a similar punishment from the TFF.

Istanbul-born Elif, who has 363,000 followers on social media, denied being one of the people in the leaked footage.

She intends to appeal, insisting: “I will have a long road ahead legally, but will overcome in the strongest and most robust way.

“I look forward to your full support and love in this process.

“Crying, screaming and being sad are not things I would do. That is not me.

“I will stand by my cause until the end.  I am just one of many who are being harmed – I hope I am the last.”

Elif played for Besiktas before becoming a referee.

Meanwhile, Erdemir claimed the video had been circulated without his permission, but admitted his career is now over.

He said: “My honour in my family, my social circle and the refereeing community has been blown away.

“In addition to my financial losses, the emotional damage I have suffered is indescribable.”

Istanbul native Erdemir was a Fifa referee between 1999 and 2002.

He also took charge of games in Turkey’s Super Lig before becoming an observer of his fellow officials.

Hurricane Milton set to DOUBLE in size before it smashes Florida with 1m told to evacuate as 150mph megastorm barrels in

THE treacherous Hurricane Milton is set to double in size before it begins to terrorise Florida on Wednesday night.

Officials have told over a million people to evacuate their homes in the coming hours as near 150mph winds are expected to bring destruction to areas still reeling from Hurricane Helene.

The expected path of the hurricane due to hit Florida Wednesday evening

The potentially record-breaking winds from Milton have started to grow in size this morning as its strength continues to fluctuate.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned of the damning predictions today, saying: “Milton is still a relatively compact hurricane, but the wind field is expected to continue to grow in size as it approaches Florida.

“The official forecast shows the hurricane and tropical storm-force winds roughly doubling in size by the time it makes landfall.”

The NHC added Milton will be “an extremely dangerous hurricane when it reaches shore”.

The storm was downgraded from a Category 5 to a Category 4 hurricane by Tuesday morning but is still expected to make landfall on Florida‘s Gulf Coast tomorrow evening.

I can say this without any dramatization whatsoever: if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die

Jane CastorTampa Mayor

It’s tropical storm-force winds extended around 80 miles from its center on Monday, but the wind field surged in size to just over 100 miles as of this morning.

The NHC and experts have warned that the bigger Milton gets the farther from its center its life threatening winds will reach.

Six million people have been put under hurricane-watch warning along with the million already told to flee.

The storm is set to be the worst to impact the Tampa area in more than 100 years if it stays on the current track, according to the National Weather Service.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor warned the city’s almost 400,000 residents to urgently evacuate.

She told CNN: “I can say this without any dramatization whatsoever: if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die.

“This is something that I have never seen in my life, and anyone who was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area has never seen this before.”

Officials in the Tampa Bay area say they will be shutting off water supplies ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival.

As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the hurricane as “ferocious” and warned the damage will be “really significant”.

Orlando meteorologist Noah Bergren described the storm as “nothing short of astronomical.”

US President Joe Biden echoed these concerns today as he told all residents who sit in the path of Milton to evacuate immediately.

Biden labelled the choice “a matter of life and death”.

The current leader of the US was even forced to cancel his overseas trip ahead of the storm’s landfall, according to NBC News.

Biden was scheduled to depart for Berlin on Thursday and then head south to Angola before returning to the United States on October 15.

The government of the Bahamas has also issued a tropical storm warning for the northwestern areas of the island.

Thousands of terrified residents have tried to flee towards Miami with motorways left at a standstill.

The Interstate 75 northbound was stacked up bumper to bumper while moving at just 7mph on Monday afternoon.

Residents who have stayed have already started to sure up their homes and businesses by boarding up the windows.

Many have also been panic buying supplies such as bottled water and toilet paper as they prepare for days of chaos.

Almost all of Florida’s west coast is under a hurricane warning as the Category 4 storm and its 155mph winds crept toward the state at a chilling 9mph.

Forecasters warned of a possible 8-to-12-foot storm surge in Tampa Bay.

The strongest Atlantic hurricane on record is the 1980s Allen.

It reached incredible wind speeds of 190mph as it moved through the Caribbean and Gulf before striking Texas and Mexico.

Milton’s center could come ashore Wednesday in the Tampa Bay region, which has not endured a direct hit by a major hurricane in more than a century.

What is a hurricane and how do they form?

A HURRICANE is another name for a tropical cyclone - a powerful storm that forms over warm ocean waters near the equator.

Those arising in the Atlantic or eastern Pacific are called hurricanes, while those in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean are dubbed typhoons or cyclones.

North of the equator they spin anticlockwise because of the rotation of the Earth, however, they turn the opposite way in the southern hemisphere.

Cyclones are like giant weather engines fuelled by water vapor as it evaporates from the sea.

Warm, moist air rises away from the surface, creating a low-pressure system that sucks in air from surrounding areas – which in turn is warmed by the ocean.

As the vapour rises it cools and condenses into swirling bands of cumulonimbus storm clouds.

The system grows and spins faster, sucking in more air and feeding off the energy in seawater that has been warmed by the sun.

At the center, a calm “eye” of the storm is created where cooled air sinks towards the ultra-low pressure zone below, surrounded by spiraling winds of warm air rising.

The faster the wind, the lower the air pressure at the center, and the storm grows stronger and stronger.

Tropical cyclones usually weaken when they hit land as they are no longer fed by evaporation from the warm sea.

But they often move far inland – dumping vast amounts of rain and causing devastating wind damage – before the “fuel” runs out and the storm peters out.

Hurricanes can also cause storm surges when the low air pressure sucks the sea level higher than normal, swamping low-lying coasts.
