1000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton breaks down in tears and vows to ‘start new life’ in show sneak peek filmed before arrest

1000-LB. SISTERS’ Amy Slaton breaks down in tears as she vows to ‘start a new life’ in show sneak peek that was filmed before her arrest.

In a preview from tonight’s season premiere, Amy, 36, struggles to contain her emotions while talking about her divorce from Michael Halterman, 41, last year.

Speaking to her sister Amanda, 43, the reality star says she wants to get rid of her couches as they remind her of the mill operator.

The conversation soon shifts to her mental health, physical health, and even her appearance.

Amy reveals she’s ready for a fresh start, wants to change her hair, and is looking forward to removing her excess skin.

She admits: “I wanna get rid of these couches cos they remind me of Michael and I can’t stand them and I want to get rid of them.”

Her sibling replies: “You’re gonna have to make new memories here that show the bad ones out. You don’t give yourself enough credit, you can do this.”

After receiving the encouragement, Amy says: “Right now, I’m just gonna focus on me and my mental health, my physical health, my outer appearance, I’m ready to change up the hair colour, I just wanna get some new hair and get rid of all this excess skin.”

In a piece-to-camera, she adds: “I’m just ready to start a new life and I need to have skin removal. I feel like a deflated balloon.

“So, I’m excited to see Dr Smith and hopefully I’ll get approved for the skin removal.

“Because I’m struggling right now to love myself but eventually I’m gonna find a way to love myself. Just keep it one second at a time.”

The scenes were filmed before Amy was caught with suspected magic mushrooms and weed when she was arrested on drugs and child endangerment charges at a zoo.

The TLC star was held along with her friend Brian Scott Lovvorn on Labor Day in Crockett County, Tennessee.

Last month, sheriff deputies were called to West Tennesse Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee, about 45 minutes northwest of Jackson, after Amy claimed a camel bit her.

Amy and Brian were going through the park’s drive-through safari feeding camels from their car when the animal bit her, the 1000-lb Sisters star said.

But when sheriff officials arrived to aid the victim, an overwhelming smell came from their vehicle.

Police searched the pair’s car and found suspected psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, prompting cops to arrest Amy and Lovvern.

Two children under the age of 8 were also present when the pair were arrested, sheriff officials said.

The children were released to a relative while the pair were taken to jail.

HALLUCINATED BITE?

Jon Conley, one of the safari park’s owners, told TMZ he does not believe Amy’s claims.

The owner told the outlet that the cut above Amy’s elbow did not resemble a camel bite because “the skin was fileted open”, and there was no bruised tissue.

Jon also said the park has combed through surveillance footage to back her claims, but nothing has come up.

Photos obtained by the outlet showed Amy on a stretcher with a shirt wrapped around her elbow area.

Jon said thousands of guests visit the park’s drive-through safari without incident.

The U.S. Sun since learned that Amy and Brian remained in custody as of Tuesday after they appeared before Judge Paul Conley.

BOND ARRANGEMENTS

The judge set a $10,000 bond for both suspects, who are charged with illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule VI, and two counts of child endangerment.

Stephen Sutton, a Crockett County Sheriff’s Department public information officer, told The U.S. Sun, “Amy and Brian are still in the sheriff’s custody.

“They went before Judge Paul Conley this morning, and he gave them each $10,000 bond.

“They are awaiting on family and financial arrangements to be set up to be bonded out.

“The officers observed in the car what they believed to be mushrooms and they also smelled and did observe what they believed to be marijuana.

“That has been sent off for laboratory testing.

“She had two kids in the car who were under the age of eight, so that’s why each of them have two charges of child endangerment as well.

“I can’t say whether those kids are hers because they are protected under juvenile laws, but they were not hurt and they are not in safe custody.

“Department of Children’s Services was involved and the children were released to a relative caregiver to take care of them.

“DCS and the judge will work together to determine their parenting situation.”

Amy Slaton's Arrest

The 1000-Lb. Sisters star was booked into Crockett County Jail in Tennessee on Monday, September 2.

  • The TLC star spent her Labor Day at Tennessee Safari Park with her friend Brian Lovvorn and two small children.
  • The drive-through park allows people to feed the zoo animals from their cars.
  • A staffer at the zoo called 911, claiming Amy had been bitten by a camel and was bleeding.
  • Police arrived on the scene, where Amy said she was bit and was taken away on a stretcher.
  • Authorities were immediately met with an overwhelming odor from Amy and Brian’s car.
  • They discovered marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms inside the vehicle.
  • Amy and Brian were each arrested and charged with drug possession and child endangerment.
  • They were booked into Crockett County Jail and were released soon after on a $10,000 bond each.
  • Tennessee Safari Park co-owner Claude Conley refuted the claims that Amy had ever been bit.

AMY’S SINGLE LIFE

Amy has been dealing with a series of heartbreaks following her divorce from her ex-husband.

The exes, who share two kids, including Gage, 3, and Gleen, 1, split in 2023.

Following her divorce, Amy emerged on the dating scene and started a relationship with Tony Rodgers.

However, The U.S. Sun confirmed the couple’s romance did not last as they split after he spent most of his time with his children.

In mid-February, Amy revealed that she went on her third date with her new man, Kevin.

In a TikTok video, she reposted screenshots from their dinner date at Red Lobster.

It’s unclear what her relationship is with Brian.

Female ref, 24, denies starring in sex tape with referees’ observer, 61, as she’s hit with lifetime ban from football

A FEMALE ref has landed a lifetime ban – after allegedly featuring in a sex tape with an official almost three times her age.

Elif Karaarslan, 24, has refereed matches in Turkey since injury forced her to quit playing football.

But the TFF, Turkey’s FA, has now banned her for life after she was reportedly filmed having sex with referees’ observer Orhan Erdemir.

Former Fifa official Erdemir, 61, has received a similar punishment from the TFF.

Istanbul-born Elif, who has 363,000 followers on social media, denied being one of the people in the leaked footage.

She intends to appeal, insisting: “I will have a long road ahead legally, but will overcome in the strongest and most robust way.

“I look forward to your full support and love in this process.

“Crying, screaming and being sad are not things I would do. That is not me.

“I will stand by my cause until the end.  I am just one of many who are being harmed – I hope I am the last.”

Elif played for Besiktas before becoming a referee.

Meanwhile, Erdemir claimed the video had been circulated without his permission, but admitted his career is now over.

He said: “My honour in my family, my social circle and the refereeing community has been blown away.

“In addition to my financial losses, the emotional damage I have suffered is indescribable.”

Istanbul native Erdemir was a Fifa referee between 1999 and 2002.

He also took charge of games in Turkey’s Super Lig before becoming an observer of his fellow officials.

Hurricane Milton set to DOUBLE in size before it smashes Florida with 1m told to evacuate as 150mph megastorm barrels in

THE treacherous Hurricane Milton is set to double in size before it begins to terrorise Florida on Wednesday night.

Officials have told over a million people to evacuate their homes in the coming hours as near 150mph winds are expected to bring destruction to areas still reeling from Hurricane Helene.

The expected path of the hurricane due to hit Florida Wednesday evening

The potentially record-breaking winds from Milton have started to grow in size this morning as its strength continues to fluctuate.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned of the damning predictions today, saying: “Milton is still a relatively compact hurricane, but the wind field is expected to continue to grow in size as it approaches Florida.

“The official forecast shows the hurricane and tropical storm-force winds roughly doubling in size by the time it makes landfall.”

The NHC added Milton will be “an extremely dangerous hurricane when it reaches shore”.

The storm was downgraded from a Category 5 to a Category 4 hurricane by Tuesday morning but is still expected to make landfall on Florida‘s Gulf Coast tomorrow evening.

I can say this without any dramatization whatsoever: if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die

Jane CastorTampa Mayor

It’s tropical storm-force winds extended around 80 miles from its center on Monday, but the wind field surged in size to just over 100 miles as of this morning.

The NHC and experts have warned that the bigger Milton gets the farther from its center its life threatening winds will reach.

Six million people have been put under hurricane-watch warning along with the million already told to flee.

The storm is set to be the worst to impact the Tampa area in more than 100 years if it stays on the current track, according to the National Weather Service.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor warned the city’s almost 400,000 residents to urgently evacuate.

She told CNN: “I can say this without any dramatization whatsoever: if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die.

“This is something that I have never seen in my life, and anyone who was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area has never seen this before.”

Officials in the Tampa Bay area say they will be shutting off water supplies ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival.

As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the hurricane as “ferocious” and warned the damage will be “really significant”.

Orlando meteorologist Noah Bergren described the storm as “nothing short of astronomical.”

US President Joe Biden echoed these concerns today as he told all residents who sit in the path of Milton to evacuate immediately.

Biden labelled the choice “a matter of life and death”.

The current leader of the US was even forced to cancel his overseas trip ahead of the storm’s landfall, according to NBC News.

Biden was scheduled to depart for Berlin on Thursday and then head south to Angola before returning to the United States on October 15.

The government of the Bahamas has also issued a tropical storm warning for the northwestern areas of the island.

Thousands of terrified residents have tried to flee towards Miami with motorways left at a standstill.

The Interstate 75 northbound was stacked up bumper to bumper while moving at just 7mph on Monday afternoon.

Residents who have stayed have already started to sure up their homes and businesses by boarding up the windows.

Many have also been panic buying supplies such as bottled water and toilet paper as they prepare for days of chaos.

Almost all of Florida’s west coast is under a hurricane warning as the Category 4 storm and its 155mph winds crept toward the state at a chilling 9mph.

Forecasters warned of a possible 8-to-12-foot storm surge in Tampa Bay.

The strongest Atlantic hurricane on record is the 1980s Allen.

It reached incredible wind speeds of 190mph as it moved through the Caribbean and Gulf before striking Texas and Mexico.

Milton’s center could come ashore Wednesday in the Tampa Bay region, which has not endured a direct hit by a major hurricane in more than a century.

What is a hurricane and how do they form?

A HURRICANE is another name for a tropical cyclone - a powerful storm that forms over warm ocean waters near the equator.

Those arising in the Atlantic or eastern Pacific are called hurricanes, while those in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean are dubbed typhoons or cyclones.

North of the equator they spin anticlockwise because of the rotation of the Earth, however, they turn the opposite way in the southern hemisphere.

Cyclones are like giant weather engines fuelled by water vapor as it evaporates from the sea.

Warm, moist air rises away from the surface, creating a low-pressure system that sucks in air from surrounding areas – which in turn is warmed by the ocean.

As the vapour rises it cools and condenses into swirling bands of cumulonimbus storm clouds.

The system grows and spins faster, sucking in more air and feeding off the energy in seawater that has been warmed by the sun.

At the center, a calm “eye” of the storm is created where cooled air sinks towards the ultra-low pressure zone below, surrounded by spiraling winds of warm air rising.

The faster the wind, the lower the air pressure at the center, and the storm grows stronger and stronger.

Tropical cyclones usually weaken when they hit land as they are no longer fed by evaporation from the warm sea.

But they often move far inland – dumping vast amounts of rain and causing devastating wind damage – before the “fuel” runs out and the storm peters out.

Hurricanes can also cause storm surges when the low air pressure sucks the sea level higher than normal, swamping low-lying coasts.

Our statue gifted by a coworker left us baffled when Antiques Roadshow said an ‘experimental’ detail makes it worth $80k

A UNIQUE detail on a small statue has helped make it worth tens of thousands of dollars.

The owner of the rare item said she had come across it thanks to the generosity of her husband’s coworker.

The owner of a centuries-old statue was shocked at its evaluation
PBS
The piece was designed over a century ago by a famous French artist
PBS

“It’s a statue that was given to my husband — he’s a contractor, and it was given to him from someone that he works with,” she explained to Antiques Roadshow appraiser Kerry Shrives during a 2009 episode of the series.

The bronze and marble statue featured a woman with a long flowing cloth covering much of her face.

Shrives immediately pointed out the base of the statue was signed by J.L. Gerome, a famous French artist in the mid to late 1800s.

“He spent most of his career as a very prominent and well-regarded French painter and engraver,” the appraiser explained.

“It wasn’t until he was about 50 that he really became a sculptor.”

One of Gerome’s first sculptures appeared in 1878, and Shrives called the owner’s statue a “really great example of his work.”

MONEY MATERIAL

Shrives also confirmed that the title of the piece was “Woman with a Veil” and pointed out the decorative detailing on the fabric of the clothing depicted on the statue.

Additionally, while it was clear that the sculpture included marble and bronze, the appraiser said it was a “majority” bronze.

Despite all the stunning details that made up the piece, Shrives said the “experimentation” and “combination of materials” with painting the marble and patenting the bronze made it particularly special.

It was also made in three different sizes by Gerome, and the owner happened to have the largest version.

HAND HOLD-UP

The only issue with the statute was that it was missing a left hand, but Shrives reassured the owner that a professional could craft a new one out of marble and re-attach it with relative ease.

Shrives said she had recently seen one with a completely re-attached new arm sell at auction for around $75,000.

Considering the owner’s version with only the missing hand, the appraiser estimated its value to be anywhere between $60,000 and $80,000.

“It’s really, in the scheme of things, a minor conditional issue — believe it or not,” Shrives reassured her.

Antiques Roadshow best finds

Antiques Roadshow has helped people put a price on their treasures since 1979. Here are some of the most interesting finds

TIME TURMOIL

The owner was speechless at the prospect.

Surprisingly, the value of the statue would have gone down if the owner tried to sell it today.

Antiques Roadshow estimated it would only be worth around $40,000 to $60,000 in 2024.

It wouldn’t be the first time the owners of rare art were shocked that they could’ve been holding on to something worth that much money.

A woman who kept a $40 glass bird she thrifted was nearly moved to tears when appraisers with the PBS series said it was worth $9,000.

Similarly, two portraits bought for $150 at a store years ago were really worth $30,000 thanks to the famous American artist who designed them.

Dogooder mechanic throws away ‘beer cans’ left in museum – only to be told they’re modern art pieces

A DOGOODER mechanic was left red-faced after throwing away what he thought was rubbish – but was actually modern art.

The art in question was by French artist Alexandre Lavet called “All the good times we spent together” and resemble two cans of a popular Belgian brand of lager.

AFP
The moment the art was recovered from the rubbish bin[/caption]

AFP
French artist Alexandre Lavet’s art “All the good times we spent together”[/caption]

The Dutch lift engineer was new on the site at the LAM museum in Lisse and put the two cans in the rubbish bin after spotting them on top of the museum’s glass lift shaft.

But the installation on the bizarre rubbish-like art deliberate and the engineer had therefore chucked a hand-painted Alexandre Lavet 2016 piece.

Sitting alongside the the lager was a “receipt” for the beers from a supermarket on Rue Berthelot in the well-known Saint-Gilles quarter of Brussels.

After the art curator noticed the modern art had disappeared, a search was called at the museum to desperately find it.

The artwork was eventually “miraculously” found in a rubbish bag put out for collection and was “intact after some cleaning”, according to the museum.

Despite the mess-up, the museum’s director made it clear that the mistake was innocent.

Sietske van Zanten said: “He did his job to the best of his ability.

“On a positive note, it is a compliment to [the] artist, Alexandre Lavet.

“Our art encourages visitors to see everyday objects in a new light.

“By displaying artworks in unexpected places, we amplify this experience and keep visitors on their toes.”

The museum wouldn’t say the value of the artwork, but warn “it is far too expensive to end up in the rubbish.”

Other pieces of his work are priced between an unbelievable £670 and £2,095.

Artist Lavet, 36, created the artwork to “symbolise his precious moments with friends” after “evenings spend drinking together”.

Lavet has made more than one version of the beer-can art, which includes an edition painted in less-intense colours.

In describing the beer art, the museum’s website says: “Unlike ready-made found objects, such as the famous urinal by Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven and Marcel Duchamp, Lavet’s piece required a lot of time and effort to create.

“For the artist, the cans symbolise cherished memories shared with dear friends.

“While evenings spent enjoying drinks may seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, they ultimately embody precious moments of connection.”

A Dutch classical pianist and art collector who owns two of Lavet’s pieces said: “It was only a matter of time before something like this happened to Alexandre’s work.

“If you make something that basically looks like rubbish, then there is a chance that it will be treated as rubbish, which, in itself, is a risk that I’m sure Alexandre is completely aware of.

“It just goes to show that really it’s OK not to know what art is exactly when you meet it.

“These things can happen, even though you’re in a museum. It is always probably best to ask.”

Dozens of license plate cameras installed in US city in fresh crackdown despite worries about ‘false positive stops’

NEW license plate cameras have helped cops catch dozens of criminals – but drivers are still left with questions.

Since March, cops in Austin, Texas, have installed 40 fixed cameras across the city to serve as automated license plate readers.

A Flock Camera installed in Norfolk, Virginia[/caption]

At a public safety meeting on Monday, the Austin Police Department shared that the plate readers contributed to them identifying multiple criminals.

APD said the cameras have helped to arrest or identify two murder suspects. They’ve also aided in arresting 40 people for stolen vehicles.

The Flock Safety License Plate Reader Program also helped recover 20 stolen vehicles with no arrests.

The cameras by Flock Safety, mounted on utility poles, are used by cities and homeowner associations across Texas – but the technology has created some controversy in Austin.

The cameras have raised questions about privacy, data retention, and discrimination regarding the automated readers, according to local ABC affiliate KVUE.

Commissioners at the meeting questioned APD’s update and requested more information about how much data was shared with other agencies.

People also asked about the number of “false positive stops,” which would include people who were pulled over because the tech misread a license plate.

Meeting attendees expressed concerns about the demographics of the people who were wrongly pulled over as commissioners raised questions about the readers’ discrimination.

APD is expected to answer the raised questions at a meeting next month.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to APD for comment.

Flock Safety has license plate reader cameras installed in thousands of cities across America in partnership with law enforcement agencies, schools, HOAs, and businesses.

APD’s last purchased camera was installed in the city in August, and police said they plan on training all officers on the tool by the end of October.

APD plans to activate the systems in patrol cars.

“That will give us the ability, per the resolution, to be able to run the software in the car,” an APD spokesperson said at the meeting.

What the license plate readers are used for

The Flock Safety License Plate Reader Program in Austin, Texas, is being used to aid police in solving crime. The license plate readers are used to:

  • Take a picture of every passing license plate
  • Store data for seven days
  • Ping police if a plate connected to a certain crime is captured

With the data, the plate readers can:

  • Run license plates
  • Identify drivers
  • Identify stolen cars

“So as you’re driving down the road, the camera’s officer doesn’t have to do anything.

“The Axon system automatically reads everything and puts it in the database.”

APD previously said that running license plates manually is a time-consuming task, especially as the city faces a staffing shortage.

KVUE reports that as of Monday, the department had 355 vacancies, nearly 20% of the force, for sworn officers.

When questions about discrimination were raised earlier this year, APD said the license plate readers would be evenly distributed throughout Austin so that no one area would be targeted.

CEASE AND DESIST ORDER

Last month, the Texas Department of Public Safety ordered Flock Safety to stop operating in private homes and businesses after the company failed to obtain a private investigators’ license, according to Houston Fox affiliate KRIV.

The state’s DPS sent a cease and desist order for Flock’s cameras, but Flock shared a statement with KRIV saying they did nothing wrong.

“Flock has been proactively working with the Texas Department of Public Safety to determine which licenses apply to Flock,” Flock Safety said.

“When DPS informed us we need to complete a certification process for a private investigations license, we immediately initiated the process, and we anticipate we will obtain the official certification shortly. This will not change how we serve customers throughout the state.

“None of this has any effect on Flock cameras owned by Texas law enforcement agencies,” they continued.

“Flock technology currently assists 300+ law enforcement agencies across the state of Texas in solving hundreds of crimes, including homicides, assaults, kidnappings, and more, on a daily basis.

“Flock cameras throughout Texas remain in operation to help keep communities safe.”

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Flock Safety for comment.
