Isak Andic dead: Billionaire Mango founder dies in horror mountain plunge after falling 500ft as son tried to save him

THE billionaire founder of fashion giant Mango has tragically died after suffering a horrifying fall down a mountain.

Isak Andic, one of Spain’s richest men, was reportedly found dead after he slipped and fell nearly 500ft on a family trip in Collbato, Catalonia.

The 71-year-old’s son Jonathan is believed to have first told emergency services about the fatal plunge after he tried to save his dad.

Andic was visiting the Collbato Caves in the heart of the magical Montserrat mountain – just outside Barcelona – when the tragedy took place just after midday today.

Jonathan told Spanish cops he heard rocks and sand falling behind him before noticing his dad had fallen down the steep ravine.

When a large team of rescuers – including helicopter units – arrived to the scene they said there was nothing they could do to save Andic.

His body was later recovered around 3.30pm.

Various other members of his family were also on the trip, according to the El Pais newspaper.

Catalan president Salvador Illa paid tribute to Andic on X shortly after his death was confirmed by Mango.

Illa said: “Devastated by the loss of Isak Andic, a committed businessman who with his leadership has contributed to making Catalonia great and projecting it to the world.

“He leaves an indelible mark on the Catalan and global fashion sector. My condolences and those of the entire Government to the family, friends, and the Mango team.”

Spain’s opposition People’s Party leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo added: “I regret the death of Isak Andic, the founder of Mango which is a benchmark in the textile and fashion sector at an international level.

“My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all the company’s employees.”

Andic, born in Turkey, founded the high street fashion chain Mango along with his brother Nahman back in 1984.

In the last four decades the company has grown into a household name and now has over 2,700 stores across 110 countries.

They also have over 14,000 employees.

The UK currently has 45 Mango shops on dozens of high streets.

Earlier this year Mango announced it was teaming up with Spice Girl, turned business mogul Victoria Beckham for a new collection to mark its 40th anniversary.

Forbes recently estimated Andic’s net worth at £3.5 billion – making him Catalonia’s richest man and one of Spain’s wealthiest people.

He had three children, including Jonathan, and a number of grand-kids.

Mango's statement on the tragic death

MANGO CEO Tony Ruiz said today: “It is with deep regret that we announce the unexpected death of Isak Andic, our non-executive Chairman and founder of Mango, in an accident that occurred this Saturday.

“Isak has been an example for all of us. He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, his inspiring leadership and his unwavering commitment to values that he himself imbued in our company.

“His legacy reflects the achievements of a business project marked by success, and also by his human quality, his proximity and the care and affection that he always had and at all times conveyed to the entire organisation.

“His departure leaves a huge void but all of us are, in some way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements.

“It is up to us, and this is the best tribute we can make to Isak and which we will fulfill, to ensure that Mango continues to be the project that Isak aspired to and of which he would feel proud.

“In these extremely difficult times we share the pain of the family as if it were our own.”

I got into NFL watching Netflix shows and realized I was playing wrong sport in England – now I’m chasing football dream

MAPALO ‘Maz’ Mwansa picked up NFL after a trip to Texas to visit a family friend.

He then caught the eye of some players while at university in England running laps of the track.

Now, the electric 20-year-old linebacker is on his way to the United States to compete for an NFL roster spot.

“I had a brief stint in American football when I went to visit a family friend in Houston, Texas in 2015,” Maz told The Sun.

“My uncle was in the garden playing American football and I said ‘how do you throw this?’

“From there I knew about touchdowns and had a small knowledge about the sport.

“A couple of guys who played American football at my university saw me run track there.

“They looked at me and asked what sport I play and I told them I just go to the gym.

“They said ‘what a waste’ and that triggered me.

“I watched some things on Netflix, gave it a browse and delved into the sport.”

Maz went to Loughborough University in England to study a degree in economics.

He ran a 10.4-second 100m and converted that into a 4.45-second 40-yard dash time.

Maz’s speed and agility caught the eye of scouts at the NFL Academy.

And now scouts have selected him to compete in the International Player Pathway.

“Pound for pound from the power lifting I had good ratios and I was fast,” he said.

American football and the NFL – those are crazy athletes.

“People that are as flexible as gymnasts, as quick as sprinters and built like sumo wrestlers.

What is the IPP?

The NFL's International Player Pathway was founded in 2017.

Every year it gives athletes from around the world a chance to earn a spot on a roster.

Scouts pick a select group of players to travel to the US and take part in training camps.

Players can then be signed as free agents or chosen at the NFL Draft.

There are currently 18 IPP players in the NFL with five of them on active rosters.

Those are Jordan Mailata (Philadelphia Eagles), Efe Obada (Washington Commanders), Jakob Johnson (Las Vegas Raiders), Sammis Reyes (Washington Commanders) and David Bada (Washington Commanders).

“To play American football you need a toughness about you and to be a great athlete, and I feel like I had some of those aspects.

“I like contact and playing the physical sport.

“Playing soccer, I was strong, quick and loved headers so looking back at it I was playing the wrong sport.

“I watched the IPP program last year and saw a future if I train the way I’m training and use my abilities I can get there.

“My parents are proud I’m getting the Zambia and UK flags out there and be able to be a pioneer of something.”

Target shoppers can have their gifts delivered on Christmas Eve with same-day delivery orders placed by 3pm.

Members of Target Circle 360, the retailer’s paid membership program, enjoy unlimited same-day delivery on orders over $35.

For nonmembers, same-day delivery is available for $9.99 per order.

Meanwhile Drive Up and Order Pickup orders place by 6pm will also incredibly be available the same day.

Most of the retailer’s nearly 2,000 stores are open for generous extended hours of 7am to midnight through to December 23 – but remember to check your local store hours.

Target are doing this so guests can shop the season’s must-have finds and thousands of low-priced options just in time for the holidays.

Meanwhile on Christmas Eve, stores will be open from 7am until 8pm.

And it’s important to remember that all Target stores are closed on Christmas Day.

Michael Fiddelke, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Target, said: “At Target, we understand that life can get busy, which is why we’re committed to making last-minute holiday shopping easy and affordable with delivery options and deals that fit every schedule and budget.

“Whether you’re picking up one final gift or making a quick grocery run, our team is ready to help you wrap up your to-do list and save money in multiple ways so you can enjoy the magic of the season.”

It also should be noted for Target shoppers that the retailer has updated its holiday return policy.

Target are offering an extended window for electronics and entertainment items purchased during the gift-giving period.

However, the exact refund deadlines depend on what you’re buying, and they’re stricter for certain products.

Target’s revised policy applies to items purchased between November 7 and December 24, with the return window officially beginning December 26.

For most electronics and entertainment products, the return period has been extended, but high-demand items like Apple and Beats products and mobile phones have shorter deadlines.

Shoppers have 30 days from December 26 to return non-Apple electronics and entertainment items, giving them until January 24, 2025.

For Apple and Beats Products, as well as mobile phones, a more limited 14-day return period applies, with a deadline of January 8, 2025.

Target says the policy is designed to provide flexibility while maintaining clear timelines for holiday returns.

The extended return window aligns with the retailer’s goal to make post-holiday exchanges and refunds easier.

But shoppers are urged to review their receipts and confirm specific dates to avoid surprises.

More details about the updated return policy are available on Target’s website or through its customer service channels.

Putin frees evil murderer, 24, from jail after he strangled girlfriend & kept her body in barrel…so he can fight in war

MAD Vladimir Putin has freed a murderer who strangled his girlfriend and kept her corpse inside a barrel so he can fight in the war against Ukraine.

Evil Alexander Golubev, 24, was only three months into his sentence when he was freed by desperate Putin to fight after it was revealed the dictator had lost around 700,000 soldiers.

The convicted murderer has boasted he is working as a military pen pusher and “having fun” far from the bloody action on the frontline.

Footage shows Golubev at a crime reenactment demonstrating how he killed his long-term girlfriend Viktoria Kurman, 23, who was a computer graphics designer.

When she vanished, the killer pretended to be her, texting messages to her mum Olga Lishefay.

He partied at his flat with friends, informing all of them Viktoria had walked out on him.

But after more than a month, Golubev went missing and stopped messaging.

Viktoria’s mum Olga then became deeply worried and suspicious.

She went to the flat in Veliky Novgorod along with evil Golubev’s mum Marina, and a male friend of the couple.

They found it a mess – with an odour that made them wretch, coming from the green plastic barrel on the balcony which had been glazed to provide more living space as part of the flat.

Sickening footage shows Olga using a knife to open the barrel, cutting through many yards of sticky tape used to tightly  seal the lid.

Olga said: “I looked inside and I saw a black plastic bag covered with white [baking powder].

“I rang the police and explained that my daughter went missing and that a barrel was found on the balcony.”

After this, operatives arrived who removed the lid and opened the plastic bag.

Olga recalled the trauma, saying how she was stood nearby and “saw hair“.

She continued: “It was clear that it was Vika [Viktoria], because she had tips of her hair highlighted.

“It was her hair, I recognised it.”

Cops took away the barrel, and the body was confirmed as hers.

Unemployed Golubev was found and arrested five days later, and at his trial in April was sentenced to nine and half years in a strict-regime penal colony.

This is after he fully confessed to killing Viktoria.

He told investigators: “I was afraid she would find out that I was cheating on her and at that moment I just didn’t know what to do.”

The cold-blooded murderer used the strap of her bag to strangle her, and wedged a sock in her mouth to “get rid of the wheezing”.

Then he bound her with electrical tape to make her body a more “convenient” shape to fit in a barrel used to store food or drink, he confessed.

Three months later, Viktoria’s mother was shocked to be told he was no longer in jail and  his whereabouts were now a “state secret”.

But it soon became clear that he had been sent to the war under a mad Vlad scheme to release prisoners to fight.

He messaged Viktoria’s friend Alexandra saying that he was “hoping he’d be killed by a missile”, which she thinks was him pretending to be sorry about killing the young woman.

Alexandra said: “Honestly, at first I almost felt sorry for him.

“And then he wrote to his friend saying how he doesn’t care, how much fun he’s having [in the army], how he was in a safe and quiet spot doing paperwork.”

If he remains alive, Golubev will be released after completing military service with his murder conviction expunged from the criminal record.

Golubev is not the only horrific criminal to be released by Putin, as the tyrant is desperate for more soldiers to fight in his bloody and illegal war.

It comes after Nato chief Mark Rutte said that every week there are “over 10,000 killed or wounded on all sides in Ukriane,” with “over 1 million casualties since February 2022.”

The figure suggests Ukraine has lost around 300,000 soldiers as Britain estimates Russia’s losses are 700,000.

Rutte announced the grim milestone as he warned the 32 national alliance was unprepared for war.

The straight-talking ex-Dutch Prime Minister said: “We are not ready for what is coming our way in four to five years.

“Danger is moving towards us at full speed.
We must not look the other way.

“We must face it. What is happening in Ukraine could happen here too.”

Meet Dante Barnett, 280lb football prospect from England who ran 4.6 40-yard dash and targeting spot on NFL roster

DANTE Barnett stumbled upon football when he was a teenager growing up in England’s midlands – and now he’s off to chase an NFL dream.

Barnett, 21, was selected for the league’s International Player Pathway program after his insane size and speed were scouted.

The defensive tackle bulked up to 280lbs while learning the game.

And he ran the 40-yard dash in an impressive 4.6 seconds.

Now he’ll head to the US in a bid to try and win a roster spot for next season.

“I remember the first time we went to Texas for camps,” he told The Sun. “It’s completely different to Birmingham.

“I think they are willing to talk more and seemed a bit more friendly – it might just be because I have this accent.

“The people and the weather are very nice so I’d love to stay over there.”

Barnett joined the NFL Academy in Loughborough, England when he was 16.

He played all sports growing up before a friend introduced him to American football.

The physicality of the game is what grabbed his attention the most.

“It’s a very technical game so that took a while to learn,” he said.

“But in terms of it being physical, I always enjoyed that and it became an outlet for me so there wasn’t anything I was shy of.

“I’ve always been pretty quick – I first ran a 4.78 in my first year but the development at the Academy was astronomical.

“I came in at around 260lbs, and then with the lifting and impact of the hits, you start to figure out what your body needs.

“I have always been pretty big so it’s wasn’t too difficult to put the weight on.”

The NFL’s International Player Pathway was established in 2017 to give athletes from around the world a chance to win a spot on a team.

There are 18 IPP players currently on NFL rosters and five of them have reached the active team – including Efe Obada at the Washington Commanders.

“Efe has got a lot but he also gives a lot,” Barnett said.

“The advice he’s given me, sometimes I’ve been able to just call him and sit down and talk for hours.

“He’s been a big part of my football journey and I’m very grateful for him – there’s not enough words I can give for him.”

Amazing $4 Walmart item will help you clear ice from your windshield in seconds and save you from scraping

A CAR expert has shared their top tip to clear ice on vehicle windows on cold winter mornings.

In the colder months, motorists are faced with the daily challenge of de-icing their cars – leaving them running risk of being late for work or school.

Getty
Driving in the winter often means having to allow extra time in the morning to clear frost from windows[/caption]

However, Ed Colley, Head of Brand and Marketing at UK-based window repair and replacement service Autoglass, has picked out a method that works perfectly – using a simple rain repellent spray on the car’s windshield the night before temperatures drop.

He said: “The best bet for clearing the frost is to use a proper ice scraper, which can remove the ice efficiently without scratching the glass.

“For those who are really prepared, applying a rain repellent to your windscreen the night before will limit the water sitting on the glass and can make de-icing your windscreen much easier and quicker.”

Drivers can find the product Rain-X Original Treatment in a 3.5 oz bottle at stores such as Walmart for less than $4.

Rain repellent sprays are designed to give car windows an extra layer that reduces friction, meaning drops of water that land on windows are much more likely to slide off.

This means ice is much less likely to form when the temperature drops to freezing.

Ed also warned motorists to avoid certain defrosting methods as they could cause expensive damage.

He said: “Drivers should avoid the temptation to remove the ice by pouring boiling water over the windscreen, as the sudden change in temperature can cause the glass to expand and cause small chips to expand into bigger cracks.

“Using sharp objects like credit cards to clear the ice is also likely to scratch the glass while turning on the car engine and leaving it to clear the ice can take time and is not the most environmentally friendly option.”

This comes as an auto technician has warned aspiring car buyers about a missing item no longer included in many vehicles on the market.

College student Courtney McKeown was one of those victims when, one day, her Jeep caught a flat and called the American Automobile Association (AAA).

McKeown assumed the professional would arrive at her location, remove the spare tire from her truck, and replace the flat.

However, the college student soon realized there was no spare tire in the trunk of her Jeep.

“We thought it would be in there. So, we opened that up and realized there wasn’t a spare tire,” McKeown told Scripps News.

Her car did not even include a temporary “donut” tire.

Instead, all that was in her trunk was a small air pump.

“This is what you get as an alternative to a spare tire,” dad Chris McKeown added.

Mysterious medieval castle built in middle of frozen lake in Poland…& no one knows who owns it or how they finished it

A HUGE medieval castle has popped up in the middle of a frozen lake in Poland, but it’s veiled in mystery.

The bizarre and grand construction has been recorded from the air but no one is exactly sure why the structure was built or who owns it.

Stobnica Castle has finally been completed after nine years of construction[/caption]

WIKIMEDIA
Mystery has surrounded the controversial site as people do not know who owns the castle or why it was built[/caption] Map showing the location of Stobnica Castle in Poland, built on a frozen lake.

Construction of the strange Stobnica Castle started in 2015 and has been built on a man-made island in a secluded spot in the west of the country.

The project, built on a protected nature reserve, has been hugely controversial.

This massive building flew under the radar until 2018 when local environmental groups and authorities became aware.

The unbelievable building was made on the outskirts of Notecka Forest, around an hour away from Poznan.

Stobnica Castle features tall towers, stone walls, and grand turrets.

The huge fairytale site is around 230 feet high and about 656 feet long.

Recent aerial footage revealed the castle, which has taken nine years to build, now sits completed on a snow-covered and frozen lake.

Theories have swirled around who owns this secluded castle and why it was built in the first place.

Some people thought the Polish billionaire Jan Kulczyk, who died in 2015, could have been behind the project.

Other rumours claimed the site was funded by money from offshore accounts.

Some recent reports have also suggested that the Polish company DJT could have been behind the building.

The controversy about this grand but unexpected site became legal after seven people, reportedly investors, were detained by cops in 2020, according to Notes from Poland.

A local governor was even removed from office over this castle.

Those held by police were accused of causing damage to the idyllic environment.

Various attempts by building authorities to block the project haven’t worked, although it was paused at certain points.

The reason for its construction has also been questioned.

Its developers reportedly insisted the building is intended to be the owner’s main residence but some people have questioned this.

Some locals have speculated the grand structure could be transformed into a luxury hotel.

Stobnica Castle has been open to visits where guests can cruise around the site on a barge, eat at an on-site coffeehouse or even visit a gift shop.

Tickets for the attraction can go for around £10 (49 Zloty), according to the castle’s website.

Everyone can see the red car but you have 20/20 vision if you can spot the hidden football in Santa’s sack in 7 seconds

PUZZLE solvers have been challenged to crack this unique optical illusion that has baffled the minds of many.

Only a true genius with a high IQ and a perfect 20/20 vision can crack this challenge in less than seven seconds.

Santa's sack overflowing with toys and gifts; Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Betsson
Spot the hidden football in under seven seconds[/caption]

Everyone can see the orange foxes, but one football is cleverly tucked away – can you spot it?

You must bring out your best game to crack this challenge otherwise it will leave you pulling your hair out as you race against the clock.

It is indeed one of the toughest brainteasers ever created – and you may end up losing your mind trying to work out the picture.

But with the sharpest eyes and the strongest minds, you stand a great chance of succeeding.

Although it may seem like an ordinary image, this is no easy feat, and the average person gives up after a minute.

But you can try your luck and see if you can crack the challenge and beat these people.

And you have just seven seconds to solve it and become a winner.

So buckle up, set the timer, and test your puzzle-solving skills.

But did you know that solving optical illusions is a great way of training your brain and improving creative thinking?

Brainteasers are purposefully designed to trick our vision and can be used as simple determiners of intelligence.

How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?

ENGAGING in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.

Optical illusions make a little bit more sense when you learn that our eyes have very little to do with what we see and it is our brains that play the key role in creating images and trying to protect us from the potential threats around us.

Our brain is constantly trying to make sense of the world at the quickest pace it can despite the world being in 3D and the images on our retinas being in 2D.

It can be really difficult for your brain to interpret everything at once so it will often take shortcuts and give you a simplified version of what you see so you can have quicker reaction times if the object you’re looking at looks dangerous.

When you look at an object what you’re really seeing is the light that bounced off of it and entered your eye, which is converted into electrical impulses that your brain then turns into an image.

Our brains can warp straight lines if an object in the middle of them looks like it’s drawing closer as it wants to emphasize the potential threat.

Different colours and light and dark can make the same-sized objects look different or make patterned images look like they’re spinning.

Some benefits include:

  • Cognitive stimulation: These activities challenge the brain, promoting mental agility and flexibility.
  • Problem-solving skills: Regular practice enhances analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Memory improvement: These challenges often require memory recall and can contribute to better memory function.
  • Creativity: They encourage thinking outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thought processes.
  • Focus and attention: Working on optical illusions and brainteasers requires concentration, contributing to improved focus.
  • Stress relief: The enjoyable nature of these puzzles can act as a form of relaxation and stress relief.

So you might want to try The Sun’s wide range of optical illusions created to stimulate the deepest parts of your brain.

The answer to our original puzzle is coming up, as well as some more challenging tasks to try.

In this mind-bending image, everyone can count the ducks but if you can find the hidden needle among the reeds in less than seven seconds you may have 20/20 vision.

Another tricky brainteaser features a gnarled tree but only those with high IQ can spot a sleepy cat hiding on it.

Saphira (@Saphiragaga) called on Kroger to make a change to its system to prevent the issue she has supposedly encountered.

“@kroger you guys need to get your app together,” Saphira wrote on X.

“It is never working properly and so frustrating.”

She then explained how the app issue had apparently not allowed her to order medication.

“Can’t even get to order prescriptions. Come on Kroger……get it together please.

“Tired of installing and uninstalling which never works.”

Kroger quickly apologized to their customer and promised to escalate the problem.

“Hi, there! We’re sorry to hear this, and we would love to help!” Kroger wrote.

The chain asked the shopper to call them so they could “troubleshoot” the issue with their digital team.

NOT APPY

Saphira has not been the only Kroger shopper to complain about the chain’s app, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

The grocery retailer apologized to another shopper who claimed they were treated “like a criminal” when they attempted to leave the store.

This shopper said they were “done” with the chain after they claimed they experienced an issue using the receipt on their app to leave the store.

“@kroger why can’t I use my receipt in your app to get past the ridiculous security guard?” the disgruntled customer wrote on X.

“Your stupid sign claims you can ask me for a receipt, why isn’t the one in your app good enough?

All about the app

Kroger's app promises different ways to save money in one convenient place.

Shoppers can clip digital coupons and get personalized savings.

App users can earn one fuel point for every dollar they spend and redeem them for as much as $1 off each gallon of gas at participating retailers.

Customers can save over $1,000 on average each year, according to Kroger’s website

“Being treated like a criminal because I shopped is BS. F***ing done with your business.”

Kroger was quick to respond, writing, “We apologize for any inconvenience.

“Please send us a PM with your phone number, email address, and the zip code of store address you are referring to so we can forward your feedback to our leadership.”

Another customer complained about an app change that meant they had problems redeeming coupons.
