Emotional Ritchie Edhouse reveals father-in-law has given him extra motivation to hit 180s at World Darts Championships

RITCHIE EDHOUSE has a special reason for throwing as many 180s as possible at Ally Pally – because cash will go to a charity close to his heart.

Sponsors Paddy Power are once again donating £1,000 for every maximum thrown by the 96 players across 16 days of competition.

There were 914 in total last time but the betting firm rounded up from £914,000 to £1million.

The money went to Prostate Cancer UK and the hope is this dosh will go some way to saving lives by encouraging men in their 40s upwards to get themselves checked early.

And £60,000 went to the cause when Dutchman Christian Kist threw a nine-darter on Wednesday night.

Edhouse – who had a breakthrough moment in October when he won the European Championship – knows all about the deadly disease as it is something his family are dealing with.

Basildon-born Edhouse, 41, told SunSport: “At the moment, my father-in-law Bob is suffering with prostate cancer and is about to start treatment next week.

“It originally started in 2019 but he had a stroke as well, so he wasn’t strong enough, and then there was Covid.

“He loves the darts. He supports me. He’s a proud man. He would tell me: ‘Man up, just get on with it, it happens all the time.’

“If he wasn’t so weak, he would 100% be at Ally Pally. Before and after my games, he will be on my mind.

“I want to smash the 180s and hopefully earn a lot of money for the charity.

“So, it’s close to home. It’s a good charity. Whatever we can do for it, with the money raised, hopefully we can smash the £1million mark.

“It’s very important that people get checked. It doesn’t take long. It could save lives.”

Edhouse, who is based in Enfield, banked £120,000 when he crushed Jermaine Wattimena 11–3 in the Euros final in Dortmund.

Madhouse eliminated Michael Smith and Gary Anderson from the tournament in Germany as he celebrated a career-high.

The former carpet fitter, who plays Ian White on Sunday, said: “Everything worked out that weekend. I got home and my grandkids made a big mural on the wall, saying: ‘Well done granddad.’

“I was very emotional. There were big cuddles and kisses.

“They loved the trophy. But that’s all they keep asking me. It doesn’t matter wherever I am playing now. They all ask: ‘Have you won a trophy?’”

+ Paddy Power and Prostate Cancer UK aim to inspire at least 180,000 men to take the lifesaving risk checker this year.

Paris Fury returns to support husband Tyson after tragic reason she missed the last fight

PARIS Fury has jetted off to Saudia Arabia to support her husband’s Tyson Fury for his upcoming fight.

The 35-year-old landed in the country on Thursday ahead of Tyson’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk to be titled heavyweight champion of the world once again.

The mum-of-seven has always been supportive of her husband’s career often flying out to see him box.

And it was no different for his upcoming fight as Paris travelled first-class with their eldest son Prince John James, 13.

Posting on her Instagram stories, Paris smiled for the selfie, wearing a black zip-up top with her hair up in a bun.

The teen flashed a cheeky grin and put his thumbs up for the snap.

Alongside the picture, Paris tagged Tyson and her eldest son and simply penned: “On our way.”

Last night she was seen wearing a bejewelled white roob as she attended the press conference for the fight.

But in May of this year when Tyson first battled the Ukranian fighter, which he lost, she was missing.

Recently, Paris opened up about the tragic reason she was unable to come to the fight.

The pair had opened up about wanting 10 children but tragically lost their eighth child earlier this year due to a miscarriage.

She recalled the moment she was told that she had miscarried for the third time, having also lost babies in 2014 and 2018.

“I knew there was a problem. I didn’t know, my head was sort of telling me, actually, no, you’re wrong… but I was looking at screen, thinking, ‘Why is that not flickering?,” she told the Mirror.

The star said she was in tears when the sonographer broke the news to her, saying she felt “frantic and in disbelief”.

She was then sent to Lancaster Hospital the following day to be seen by another specialist.

Opening up about the heartbreak of losing three children, Paris said: “I lost one in the first trimester, and two in the second trimester, two that I’ve had to deliver. We’ve buried two baby boys.”

TV star Paris had miscarried just hours before her husband’s defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Inside Tyson and Paris Fury's love story

WITH world champ titles, multiple kids and a beautiful wife by his side, Tyson is much-loved by the nation, but his romance with Paris dates back to their teenage years.

Paris met Fury when she was just 15 at a mutual friend’s wedding.

However, it wasn’t until a year later, when their paths crossed again on a night out in Doncaster for her 16th birthday, that they began dating.

Paris explained: “He was my first boyfriend as I was not allowed a boyfriend until the age of 16. He is the only boyfriend I have had.

“Tyson would train in boxing during the week and then come and see me at the weekend. I would always be so excited at the thought of seeing him.”

In 2008, they tied the knot in front of 400 guests and slept together for the first time on the night of their wedding.

In 2016, Fury’s mental health issues, cocaine and alcohol abuse, and intolerable mood swings threatened their seemingly unbreakable marriage.

On occasion, Paris would even contemplate leaving – packing her bags and getting into her car.

However, she’d just stop herself – admitting she couldn’t leave Tyson to “crash and burn”.

The former heavyweight world champion, 36, lost to the Ukrainian in their undisputed showdown in Saudi Arabia on May 18.

Paris was due to arrive in Riyadh on the Friday, the day before the fight, but selflessly called Tyson to say it was due to high blood pressure.

I could not be there for her in that moment. And that is tough for me.

Tyson Fury

Paris wanted to tell her husband after the fight and in person, adding: “It does affect the father, but for the woman who carries that child, it is more severe. No matter how much it hurts Tyson, it’s 10 times worse for me.”

Ahead of the rematch Tyson revealed his heartbreak at not being with his wife during the tragic time.

He said: “I could not be there for her in that moment. And that is tough for me.

“I have been with the woman for longer than I wasn’t with her, so it is hard that I couldn’t be there with her, in that time.

“When she said she couldn’t come over, I knew there was a problem.

“She usually comes out on fight week but she said she had high blood pressure.

“She said she couldn’t come and I asked her what was up and asked her to tell me but she wouldn’t.

“So I knew, I knew, I knew there was a problem. I said to my brother, ‘She’s lost that baby.’

“She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew.”

Tyson also recently revealed to TNT Sports that the couple hadn’t spoken for three months as he prepares for the upcoming fight.

He revealed: “It’s been a long camp, been away from my wife and kids for three months.

“I’ve not spoken to Paris at all for three months, not one word.

“I’ve sacrificed a lot. It will be worth it (if I win), 100 per cent.”

Paris added: “People don’t see the sacrifices made.

“I’ve let him solely concentrate on this fight.

“It seems like he’s been gone forever, especially with no contact, but it’s what he needs.”

What is miscarriage and why do pregnancies fail?

MISCARRIAGE is generally the death of an unborn baby in the first 24 weeks – approximately six months – of pregnancy.

Miscarriages may not be spoken about a lot but they are very common. Baby loss charity Tommy’s estimates there are at least 250,000 per year in the UK and that one in every five pregnancies ends in miscarriage.

It may not be clear why a miscarriage happens but they are rarely caused by anything done by the mother or father. Usually the embryo has a random genetic defect that means it cannot develop properly.

Most women can go on to successfully have healthy babies in the future.

The NHS says most miscarriages cannot be prevented but avoiding smoking, alcohol and drugs while pregnant can reduce the risk.

Some of the other most common reasons for a pregnancy to fail in the first 24 weeks are ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy.

Ectopic pregnancy is where a fertilised egg implants somewhere outside of the womb, usually in a fallopian tube. It cannot survive and grow there so either dies naturally or must be terminated.

Molar pregnancy is rarer but happens when a fertilised egg and/or placenta does not develop properly at the start of a pregnancy. There is no single reason why it happens and cannot be prevented, though it may be more common in very young or old mothers.

A baby who dies after 24 weeks is considered a stillbirth.

I’m an eight-time NBA All-Star – now I’ve joined USMNT soccer icon in new venture as part of Buffalo Bills ownership

TWO NBA All-Star heroes and a former USMNT soccer icon have joined forces as part of a new business venture.

The Bills have been owned by billionaire Terry Peguladad of tennis ace Jessica – since 2014.

But the superstar team of American athletes have been added in a shock update.

And all three know all about success at the top level of sport.

The trio includes basketball duo Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady plus Jozy Altidore.

Carter, 47, is an eight-time NBA All-Star and Sydney 2000 Olympics gold medalist who was named Rookie of the Year in 1999 at the Toronto Raptors.

His former team-mate McGrady, 45, was named an NBA All-Star seven times – plus was twice the NBA scoring champion.

Altidore, meanwhile, burst on to the scene with the New York Red Bulls before spells with Villarreal, Sunderland, Toronto and finally New England Revolution back in the MLS.

He also racked up 115 caps for the USMNT, scoring 42 goals and winning the Gold Cup in 2017.

Now, though, Altidore, 35, has swapped the Bulls for the Bills with the minority takeover.

Carter, McGrady and Altidore plus a group of private equity investors stumped up the cash to purchase a 20 per cent stake in the NFL franchise.

Altidore said: “It’s a dream come true, because I genuinely got to watch that team grow through good and bad.

“There’s a ton of Buffalo Bill fans that come to Toronto FC games, a ton that go to Raptors games.

“I think we’re going to have a lot of fun kind of tying it all into one.

“I think seeing Tracy, seeing Vince now, seeing myself, I think, I hope, that inspires other people watching and young kids to say, ‘Man, I can do it too.'”

Carter added: “This is what I’m excited about, helping the team and the organization any way I can, but actually the youth under us, who are aspiring to be owners and leaders of their community.”

And McGrady concluded: “At the end of the day, this is freaking cool, man.

“That you play 15 years in the NBA and have an opportunity to invest into an NFL franchise.

“It’s cool that we’re investing in Buffalo Bills, it’s cool investing in an NFL franchise, but this is inspiring to so many people that look like us because of the past history and what’s been said in media and all that stuff about diversity, inclusion and sports ownership.”

Lowe’s apologizes and promises investigation after ‘bizarre’ order pickup mishap – and shopper begs for their items back

A LOWE’S shopper has taken to X to share their frustration after an order mishap.

In two separate posts, the customer explained the whole incident as ‘bizarre’ once their complaint was acknowledged.

The event was described as ‘bizarre’[/caption]

The shopper shared the details of their experience in a post to social media and began by addressing @Lowe’s directly.

“I placed a pickup order with Lowes.”

The customer then shared, “I didn’t have time to pick up the order within the first week.”

“But then, the order status changed to “pickup complete.”

Frustrated, the customer wrote, “I did NOT pick it up.”

The customer continued one of two posts by saying, “I contacted Lowe’s and customer service told me the store would contact me – I never got contacted.”

But that wasn’t the end.

The disgruntled customer started another post.

“Can someone else from the account holder just come and pick up the order in the locker box?”

The customer even offered an alternative.

“Or can the Lowe’s employee just take it?”

“The whole thing seems bizarre to me.”

It wasn’t long before the post caught the attention of Lowe’s online.

Lowe’s official X account soon replied.

The post read, “Hi – we’re sorry to hear about your experience with this.”

They followed up, “Please send us a DM with more info, so we can look into this for you.”

Lowe’s reply ended by saying, “Be sure to include the name on the order, email, phone and order number.”

After this response, there were no further replies from either party on the matter.

This encounter happened a few days ago, so it’s likely that the mishap with the order is being solved.

It was only last week that Lowe’s was forced to apologize to a shopper online after they claimed they were left waiting for over 40 minutes.

Elsewhere, grocery store Kroger also had to apologize to a shopper for ‘change in price’ after an order was placed.

MYLOWE'S REWARDS TIERS EXPLAINED

Here are the tiers included in the Lowe's rewards program:

  • Bronze Key: Earns 1 point per dollar spent and offers free standard shipping on eligible purchases of $35 or more.
  • Silver Key: Earns 1.25 points per dollar and includes free standard shipping on eligible items with no minimum purchase required.
  • Gold Key: Earns 1.5 points per dollar and provides free standard shipping on eligible items with no purchase minimum.

Robert Herjavec admits he was ‘jealous’ of Shark Tank co-star Mark Cuban – but meeting billionaire made him richer

SHARK Tank star Robert Herjavec has admitted he was initially “jealous” of his co-star Mark Cuban’s extraordinary success but that his friendship with the billionaire helped him dream bigger.

In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, the Croatian-Canadian entrepreneur revealed how his co-star had a huge influence on his life and that his friendship with Cuban made him richer.

Shark Tank star Robert Herjavec revealed he was “jealous” of Mark Cuban while filming the show together[/caption]

“I think I was a little bit jealous, but then I really respected him because he’s a great guy and I admired him,” Herjavec told The U.S. Sun.

Cuban and Herjavec both star on Shark Tank, where the Sharks give budding entrepreneurs the chance to secure business deals that could make them millionaires.

I have to give him full credit, I’m worth way more money after meeting Mark than I was before

Robert HerjavecShark Tank star

While acknowledging he was envious of the billionaire’s success at first, Herjavec said his jealousy of Cuban helped him realize he had lost his purpose in life.

He got to know Cuban while filming the show and grew to respect him.

“Mark is larger than life in all things, in airplanes, and his demeaner…everything.

“I think it was just such a different character for me, and I didn’t know how to handle it at first.”

Since meeting Cuban, Herjavec created a YouTube series called Things I learned from a Billionaire to Become a Billionaire where he shares lessons learned from Cuban

Herjavec said he originally started his company with a few simple goals including earning enough money to pay off his mortgage and buy a Corvette if he could afford to.

But the investor now admits his relationship with Cuban actually helped him dream bigger.

“I said to myself, if Mark can then why can’t I?”

Herjavec surpassed his initial goal, making hundreds of millions of dollars.

He first became successful after selling his internet security software to AT&T Canada in 2000 for $30 million.

After selling his company to AT&T, he founded The Herjavec Group, which became one of Canada’s largest information technology security providers.

The company was rebranded to become Cyderes.

Herjavec stepped down as CEO of the company in September this year, saying he would like to spend more time with his family.

‘RETAIL RENAISSANCE’

During the exclusive on-camera interview in New York, the shark covered a wide range of topics, including politics, the economy, and the retail sector.

Herjavec insisted the US economy was experiencing a “retail renaissance” despite mass closures and layoffs across the industry, forecasting a major boom over the next few years.

The investor said retail companies could be successful if they sold high-quality products and offered shoppers a destination experience.

Herjavec also threw his weight behind President-elect Donald Trump after his election victory, saying the former President would be the best person to manage the economy.

He also revealed he still “loves” Dancing with the Stars and watches the show with his wife Kym Johnson after they met as co-stars in 2015, saying he believes people often fall in love on the show because they get “very close” during filming.

RAGS TO RICHES

Herjavec has a remarkable life story.

His family left Croatia when he was just eight years old, arriving in Canada with just one suitcase after his father fled from jail in a communist country.

In what is a classic “rags to riches” story, Herjavec started off as a newspaper delivery boy and waiter until rising up the ranks with various business ventures and investments.

“We came from a communist country, and I didn’t realize we were poor until we came to Canada originally, and life was just really, really hard,” Herjavec exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“And I think what made me stand out was that I just refused to live like that anymore. So if I had to work harder, no problem.”

Herjavec said he was motivated after he watched his parents work hard and sacrifice so much, often feeling an “incredible pressure” to “make something” of himself.

Plus, Herjavec shared his biggest show secrets viewers don’t know.

The U.S. Sun also reported on a founder who was rejected by Shark Tank but later proved the billionaires wrong.

Kroger promises to investigate after shopper waits in ‘crazy’ checkout line that’s as ‘far back to the bathrooms’

KROGER has promised to investigate an incident after a “crazy” checkout line was captured in-store.

Kroger has promised to investigate the incident[/caption]

One customer took to X to share his frustrations, slamming the chain for having a “pretty crazy” line.

He said: “I’m a pretty patient person, but one checkout lane open out of fifteen at 9:30 on a Sunday morning is pretty crazy.

“Line is back to the bathrooms. N. Decatur road location in Decatur Georgia.”

Footage shows every other lane completely empty.

But the X user complained of how everyone was made to queue in the same one.

Kroger responded to the unbelievable footage, apologising for the experience.

The retailer said: “This is not the experience we want for our customers to have.

“Kindly DM us and provide the exact store address with zip code so we can escalate this. Thank you.”

Kroger shoppers have been up in arms over the checkout service.

Customers are calling for employees to come back for assistance despite policies at select Kroger stores favoring self-checkout over traditional cashiered lanes.

Shoppers are being forced to brave the self-service lanes, and they’re not happy about it.

Kroger also caused uproar among shoppers for alleged overcharges.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only apology the supermarket has had to issue in recent months.

Kroger has apologized to a customer who became offended due to receipt-checking measures at the retailer.

Customers were not happy when they spotted employees checking receipts and carts with wheels that lock when pushed outside the store.

Elsewhere, Kroger customers have complained about the store’s digital coupons.

One shopper said he wouldn’t go back due to price hike fears.

Kroger's refund policy

Kroger shoppers can return items with or without a receipt.

All Kroger Co. Family of Stores can accept returns of items purchased at any location within 30 days of purchase.

Returns with receipts:

  • Customers can use digital or paper receipts to get a refund
  • The refund will be returned in the same payment method the purchase was made. Either going back on a card or handed back in cash

Returns without receipts:

  • Customers wanting to return more than $10 will receive a store merchandise gift card for the value
  • Customers who spent less than $10 will receive cash
