FESTIVE shoppers are racing to their nearest Lidl store to scoop the latest treat in the bakery.
The discount German retailer has released a mini chocolate yule log for less than £1 for the Christmas season.

Some lucky shoppers could even get it for free with limited-edition coupons on the Lidl Plus app.
The chocolate sponge logs, which have a chocolate sauce centre, are dusted with sugar and topped with a mini chocolate flake.
They are found in the bakery and are individually portioned making them the perfect Christmas treat.
According to delighted shoppers, they do not disappoint.
On Facebook, one wrote: “These are the best yule logs I have ever had.
“Add some extra thick double cream absolutely amazing. All the family loved these.”
“Got these and they are lovely they had a lovely chocolate sauce in the middle,” a second wrote.
“The best cake ever made by a supermarket!” a third added.
Others praised the value for money saying they are “well worth their price.”
Some shoppers have even said that they are freezable meaning you can keep spreading some of the festive cheer into the new year.
As well as the traditional yule log and the bakery version, Lidl has also released a Deluxe Christmas dessert many think is inspired by the festive film The Polar Express.
Lidl’s Deluxe Christmas Express is a chocolate train-shaped dessert that is the perfect centrepiece for the big day or festive parties.
The green and yellow steam train is made from hard Belgian chocolate which is filled with chocolate mousse and salted caramel.
It has a chocolate brownie base and the train’s steam is made from marshmallow.
Shoppers have already raved about the pudding calling it the “best yet.”
The indulgent pudding is £9.99 or can be bought for just £6.99 with a Lidl Plus card and serves eight people.

In an extraordinary twist, she was on a ward at Birmingham Children’s Hospital when Santa brought the gifts — purchased with the proceeds of her winning artwork.
So by sheer coincidence she has become one of the beneficiaries too.
As well as Daisy’s creation, two other winning designs were chosen — reindeer heads by Quinn Jenkinson, 12, from Colchester, Essex, and a drawing of a gingerbread man, Father Christmas and a snowman, by Cassius Greenhalgh, five, from Leigh, Gtr Manchester.
The giftwrap was sold in The Works stores nationwide with proceeds going towards presents and funding childhood cancer research via our charity partner The Azaylia Foundation.
Wearing fun “antlers” and a red Rudolph nose, Daisy, who has been battling a blood cancer called acute lymphoblastic leukaemia since March, beamed from ear to ear as she opened her Lego set gift.
She said: “I can’t believe I am getting a present in the paper I designed. Yes, I am proud. It means a lot.”
Daisy lives in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, with brothers Jacob, ten, and Rory, six, dad Richard, 33, who works for a renewable energy firm, and mum Holly, 31.
Holly, who gave up work as an administrator to care for her daughter, said: “We are so proud. Daisy has been through so much, and Christmas is a tough time.
“The fact she has helped so many other children feel an extra bit of happiness at Christmas is amazing, and raising money for cancer research is just so special too.”
Santa — with the help of elf Safiyya Vorajee from The Azaylia Foundation — also had a gift for Hallie-Mae Formstone, who is five tomorrow.
She was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia last month.
The chatty youngster, from Shrewsbury, Shrops, will be spending Christmas in hospital. Mum Sophie, 32, a carer, said how grateful she is for the gift.
She added: “What’s happened to Hallie-Mae is every parent’s worst nightmare.
“Our world has been turned upside down but seeing Father Christmas and that smile on her face has been lovely.”
At The Christie Hospital in Manchester, there was excitement too as other young patients received a special visit.
Among them was Esmai Wright- Stanford, three, from Stoke-on-Trent.
She was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma, a brain tumour, at the age of seven months and has had surgery plus a year of chemotherapy.
The tot was being monitored when scans in September revealed her tumour had returned.
She is now undergoing a type of radiotherapy called proton beam therapy.
Her mum Chloe, 29, a pub worker, said: “She wasn’t very well this morning, and she was exhausted after treatment.
“But when she heard Santa was coming, she was determined to see him.”
With her hair tied into bunches and wearing a festive dress, Esmai couldn’t wait to tell Father Christmas how “cheeky” Mummy had been.
Chloe says seeing Santa was the highlight of her daughter’s week.
She said: “Hospitals are all she has ever really known. It can be so tough.
“But having a present from Santa and chatting to him is such a special treat.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for making it happen.”
Also facing Christmas at the world- famous centre in Manchester is ten-year-old Aggie Forster.

She was diagnosed with ependymoma in October after the sudden onset of headaches.
Aggie from Pershore, Worcs, said: “I had scans and I was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
“I called it Bob and I had an operation to take him out of me.”
She will be at The Christie having proton beam therapy until January.
Her mum Lucy said: “Aggie loves this time of year, and so does her brother George who is 12. It’s been a really tough few months for her. It’s been scary. It’s been lovely seeing Santa.
“I am so grateful to everybody who bought the wrapping paper and helped make this happen.”
‘Really special day’
Also visited by Santa was Matvii Liakh, four, from Colne, Lancs, who was diagnosed with an inoperable high-grade glioma — another type of brain tumour — last month.
Originally from Ukraine, mum Viktorria said: “Matvii started losing his balance and seeing double, then got bad headaches and was sick. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour. We were told it was inoperable.
“He’s having six weeks of treatment to try to shrink it then they’ll see what they can do next.”
Matvii is a big fan of animated TV series Paw Patrol.
“It was so kind of Father Christmas to give him a Paw Patrol toy,” Viktorria added.

“Things haven’t been easy for him so it’s been a really special day.”
Santa also visited kids at Croydon University Hospital in South London, including Teddy Bush, seven.
Teddy was diagnosed with acute T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia in May 2022, and has been in and out of hospital ever since.
Teddy said: “I love Santa and I love Christmas so I’m really happy to see him again. He always gives me lots of hot chocolate.”
Unwrapping a game of Guess Who? with his sister Delilah-Beau, two, sitting next to him, he added: “I love this game. Thanks Santa!”
His mum Lauren Bush, 28, from Forestdale, South East London, said: “It’s been a tough year but he’s always smiling. It’s great he got to see Santa today. I can’t thank The Sun on Sunday enough.
“It’s never easy spending Christmas in hospital so having a boost like this is really important.”
Such was the response, the wrapping paper even sold out online.

In a post on Reddit, the user wrote in a Costco thread about their find.

The post was titled: At last!! Found a mislabeled deli container.
“I’ve never found any good mislabeling until tonight, lol,” shared the user.
In the picture is a tray of assorted sandwiches, which are usually priced much higher.
Instead, the sandwiches were marked down due to an error in labeling, showing for only $1.
The shopper didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the deal.
While Costco employees were likely unaware of the mistake, their strict adherence to honoring posted prices worked in the shopper’s favor.

Known for their generous portions and fresh ingredients, others in the thread were quick to point out the find was a complete steal.
Other Costco members have also shared similar experiences, noting that mislabeled items can lead to huge savings if spotted quickly.

MICHAEL Strahan made sure to cut off Terry Bradshaw on Fox NFL Pregame during a discussion about Pittsburgh Steelers’ Russell Wilson.
The 75-year-old Terry Bradshaw and the rest of the Fox NFL Sunday stars were part of a special ‘Fox NFL Pregame’ show ahead of Saturday’s action between the Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

Bradshaw had some praise for the 36-year-old Wilson, who entered Week 16 with a 6-2 record as Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback.
Before this season, however, the 36-year-old was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos in 2022, benched by Denver at the end of the 2023 season, and then released in the offseason.
Bradshaw compared both situations, saying how difficult it was for the nine-time Pro Bowler to have both franchises not want him to stay on their respective squads.
“How would you like to be a quarterback at Seattle and everybody in Seattle wants to get rid of you? And then you get down to Denver and you realize that the head coach doesn’t want you…” he said.
Michael Strahan stopped Bradshaw and compared Wilson and the broadcaster’s recent criticisms from fans when it comes to broadcasting.
The New York Giants legend referenced the fact that Bradshaw has said in the past that he has noticed fans have called for him to retire in recent years due to his mistakes on the Fox NFL show.
“You said something that set you up. You said that’s been happening to you for years,” Strahan said.
The 51-year-old then reminded Bradshaw that his Fox colleagues have his back and don’t want him to leave broadcasting anytime soon.
“That’s a lie because we all want you here. We love you here,” Strahan said.
Long agreed with Strahan as Bradshaw comically continued his words about Wilson.
“Anyway, America…” Bradshaw said as Strahan and the Fox NFL Sunday cast laughed at him changing the subject.
He then continued to rave about Wilson, who’s helped the Steelers reach and the playoffs and entered the weekend with 13 touchdowns against three interceptions.
“The humiliation has had an effect on him as a man,” Bradshaw said about Wilson.
“No more private offices for himself.
“He’s there with Mike Tomlin and he’s doing a great job playing Steeler football.”
Unfortunately for the Steelers, they lost to the Ravens by a score of 34-17.
Baltimore clinched a playoff berth with the victory.
Wilson completed 22 of 33 passes for 217 yards and threw two touchdowns against one interception.
The Steelers will have a quick turnaround as they will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.
And the Ravens are in the same predicament as they will travel to face the Houston Texans on that same day.

A WOMAN has been left stunned after learning she had been filling her car with gas incorrectly the entire time.
A TikTok user was left amazed after finally discovering how useful the little clip on the gas nozzle could be.

Kate Steiner, who’s on the social media platform under the name k8steiner, posted her confession under the caption: “Only took 34 years to figure this out”.
In the video, which quickly went viral and racked up over a million views, Steiner reveals that she finally worked out what the little clip on the gas pump nozzle was for.
In it, she shows a gas pump that pans over to the nozzle, which is running using the hold-open clip.
For drivers across the US, this handy clip can be found on virtually all gas pump nozzles, and works by allowing customers to pump the gas without holding down the hand lever.
Many viewers couldn’t believe Steiner took so long to figure out how to use it.
One wrote: “I had to come to the comments to even figure out what you meant by ‘this’.”
Another commented: “I can’t imagine not doing this, I’ve been driving for 10 years and don’t think I’ve ever stood at the car holding the thing.”
And a third added: “I’ve never not used it. How do you know when to stop if you’re pumping manually?”
TikTok user Earl, who’s part of Texas-based rock band Earlshreds, took a break from posting about music to reveal what he described as “one of the biggest scams in the automotive industry.”
In the video, Earl reveals he took his Toyota to a dealership in Humble, Texas, after it started “shifting rough” and displaying the check engine warning.
Hoping to get the issue fixed, he took the Toyota truck to a local dealership, but was horrified by the price of $8,600 for the repairs.
This is when it appears Earl decided to take matters into his own hands, managing to fix the problem himself – spending just $50 “in fluid and parts” and manually changing out the car’s transmission fluid.
Residents living in Knoxville, Tennessee, will see a number of citations increase from January 2025, and rise further if they fail to pay them after 10 days.
According to Knox News, violations such as parking in a fire lane or near a hydrant will now increase from $25 to $35, and rise further to $44 if left unpaid within 10 days.
Furthermore, fines for all other violations, such as not feeding a meter or parking in a no-parking zone, will now be $25, rising to $34 if they are not paid within 10 days.
First announced last month, it comes as the city is working to cover the deficit it incurs on downtown garages and street parking,.
Raising citations is just one of several suggestions made by a firm the city hired.
