BARNES & Noble customers could lose out on some cash if they miss a deadline within an updated policy.
The bookstore chain recently confirmed the decision, but it shouldn’t be too shocking to regular customers.
Barnes & Noble has updated a policy for holiday shoppers (stock image)[/caption]
Like many retailers, Barnes & Noble has extended its return window for the holiday season, something it has done in previous years.
Those customers who made or will make purchases from November 1 to December 31 can bring them back for a refund or exchange until January 31, 2025, per the policy.
This also applies to devices like NOOKs.
Additionally, NOOK Protect Plans can be added on by a customer no more than 60 days after any purchases made between November 1 and December 31.
Should the shopper miss the deadline, they will lose out on the ability to return the items and potential refunds or exchanges.
PROOF, PLEASE
A crucial aspect of the holiday return extension at Barnes & Noble is that customers must have proof of purchase.
The return will not be accepted if they do not have a gift receipt or another form of documentation.
The same goes for Barnes & Noble’s standard return policy.
Consumers should remember a few qualifications for returning merchandise to the bookstore chain.
First, those items returned new or unopened within the holiday extension period can get a full refund.
That refund will be made to the original form of payment.
If that form of payment isn’t available, an electronic gift card with Barnes & Noble credit will be provided.
Secondly, those with a gift receipt will also get store credit.
Barnes & Noble customers who also make purchases as part of a “Buy X, Get Y Free” deal format will only get exchanges if they return some items.
HOLIDAY RETURNS EXTENDED
Retailers who have switched up their return policies for Christmas include:
Amazon: The usual 30-day return window has been extended until January 31, 2025 for items bought from November 1 to December 31, 2024. The deadline for returning Apple products however, is January 15, 2025.
Walmart: Consumers have until January 31, 2025 to return goods purchased online or in store between October 1 and December 31, 2024.
Target: Shoppers have until January 24, 2025 to return most electronics and entertainment products purchased between November 7 and December 24. The deadline for mobile phones, Beat and Apple products however is January 8, 2025.
Best Buy: The deadline to return items bought from November 1 to December 31, 2024 is January 14, 2025 for many products. Consumers have 15 days in which to return holiday decorations, while for activatable devices such as cell phones it’s 15 days.
Check individual retailer websites for full details of return policies as deadlines can vary, depending on product.
They’d have to return all merchandise included in the deal to be eligible for a refund.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE
Customers should know that their purchases don’t have to be returned to the same Barnes & Noble store from which they were made.
The items can be returned at any of the bookstore chain’s around 600 locations nationwide within the extension window and with a receipt.
Several items sold at Barnes & Noble can also not be returned, no matter what — including magazines, newspapers, used books, and more.
Shoppers can find more specifics on Barnes & Noble’s website.
Barnes & Noble also recently shuttered all of its locations for 24 hours in a retail blackout, forcing shoppers to make other plans.
It also permanently closed a beloved store earlier this year in California.

THE tech worker accused of fatally stabbing CashApp founder Bob Lee has learned his fate over a year after the shocking murder.
CashApp founder Bob Lee was stabbed to death on April 2, 2023[/caption]
Nima Momeni, seen in court on May 2, 2023, was found guilty of second-degree murder in connection to the fatal stabbing of Cashapp founder Bob Lee[/caption]
The jury, which began deliberations on December 4, did not convict Momeni of first-degree murder.
A verdict was reached on Monday but was read in court on Tuesday.
Timothy Oliver Lee, the brother of the murdered CashApp founder, proclaimed that justice was served.
Lee’s ex-wife, Krista, described the trial length as “absolutely excruciating” but was not surprised the jury took seven days to reach a verdict.
When asked by KRON-TV if anything less than a first-degree murder conviction would be “injustice” to her, Krista responded, “In a way, yes, it would be. Absolutely.”
In the early hours of April 2, 2023, Momeni stabbed Lee three times with a kitchen knife near San Francisco’s Bay Bridge after a night of partying, prosecutors say.
Lee then stumbled to the nearby neighborhood of Rincon Hill, where he called 911 and was found screaming for help with some of his final breaths.
The CashApp founder was taken to the hospital but died on the surgery table.
Lee’s death shocked the tech industry, as he had thrived in top-tier software positions.
He worked for successful brands like Square and SpaceX and, when he died, was the chief product officer of the cryptocurrency platform MobileCoin.
However, investigations into the murder revealed he was allegedly tied up in the underground drug-fueled party scene called The Lifestyle – which was favored by new money socialites.
Prosecutors say Momeni went into a murderous rage after Lee introduced his sister, Khazar Elyassnia, to one of his drug dealers, who slipped her date rape drug GHB and sexually assaulted her.
Defense attorneys refuted the prosection’s claims, arguing that Lee sparked the attack and that Momeni, using his Krav Maga martial arts skills, disarmed the tech giant.
Elyassnia also claimed in court that the alleged assault by the drug dealer never happened.
Momeni confronted Lee about the assault the day before his murder, but the tech mogul denied everything, prosecutors say.
The next day, Lee and Momeni went to the enviable Millennium Tower, where Elyassnia and her plastic surgeon husband live, for a party.
Disturbing surveillance footage showed the pair appearing to argue with one another in the elevator.
At about 2 am, the CashApp founder was seen getting into Momeni’s car to keep the night going, prosecutors said.
Additional video captured Lee and Momeni outside his car near the Bay Bridge. Momeni appeared to be violently thrusting toward Lee’s shadowy figure.
An autopsy found Lee had three clean stab wounds, which prosecutors argued was proof there was no struggle.
He also had a mix of alcohol and a cocaine blend called cocaethylene in his system when he died.
During the trial, Momeni testified, “I was scared for my life,” as he sparred with prosecutors in a rambling cross-examination.
He claimed that Lee pulled a knife after he cracked a “bad joke,” suggesting he should be spending his night in the city with his family instead of going to a strip club.
Momeni faces 26 years to life if convicted.

6 days agoUSA UpdateComments Off on ‘What did I say?’ Jimmy Johnson fumes at Fox NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee after bold Kansas City Chiefs playoff claim
FOX NFL analyst Jimmy Johnson snapped at Curt Menefee after revealing a strong opinion on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Johnson predicted that the Chiefs, who entered Week 15 with a 12-1 record and a two-game lead as the AFC’s top seed, will lose in their first playoff contest.
His colleagues questioned him but the 81-year-old was having none of it.
“I’m sorry, Kansas City, but I think they’re gonna lose their first playoff game,” Johnson said. “They’ll win the division, but they’ll lose their first playoff game.”
And Menefee decided to challenge Johnson, saying that Kansas City’s first playoff contest will likely be at GEHA Field at Arrowhead due to the fact they’re on their way to secure home-field advantage.
“That first playoff game will be at home. You sure they’re gonna lose?” Menefee attempted to clarify.
Johnson quickly threw his hands up and told him, “What did I say?! Did I say they were going to lose their first playoff game?”
The panel proceeded to laugh and Strahan playfully put his hands in the air while standing next to Johnson.
The Chiefs have only lost two home playoff games since 2019.
Both losses came in the AFC Championship – one to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019 and the other to the New England Patriots in 2019.
During Johnson’s argument, he explained that Kansas City’s wins have come due to luck rather than dominance.
The back-to-back Super Bowl defending champions have escaped with narrow victories on numerous occasions.
During Week 13, the Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders by just two points after a botched snap during a potential game-winning field goal drive.
The week prior, they beat the three-win Carolina Panthers by just three points.
And in November, Kansas City defeated the Broncos Broncos by two teams after the squad blocked a 35-yard game-winning field goal attempt from Wil Lutz.
Johnson thinks that the results of those games could’ve gone the other way.
The Chiefs must have heard his commentary as they earned their highest point differential of the campaign after winning in Week 15 to the Cleveland Browns by a score of 21-7.
However, Patrick Mahomes suffered a mild high-ankle sprain during the game, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The 29-year-old three-time MVP suffered the injury during the second half of the contest after multiple Browns defenders hit him high and low while he let go of an incomplete pass.
Carson Wentz replaced him and played in the rest of the game.
Wentz is expected to start against the Houston Texans on Saturday as Mahomes’ injury is considered week-to-week.
