CHELSEA have reportedly frozen out a highly-rated academy teenager until he signs a new contract.
It is claimed the Blues told defender Josh Acheampong he will not play for the first team or the development squad while he stalls over the fresh terms.
Acheampong, 18, is currently tied down at Stamford Bridge until 2026.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea are said to have opened talks over an extension to secure his long-term future at the club.
But with negotiations stalling, he has been exiled from competitive action.
Acheampong established himself as the third-choice right-back during pre-season under Enzo Maresca – after making his senior debut for Mauricio Pochettino in May, three days before his 18th birthday.
Captain Reece James and Malo Gusto are the recognised top two.
Although the club showed interest in Pedro Lima from Sport Recife – who eventually joined Wolves – Acheampong looked set to be around the first-team set-up with Maresca in charge.
However, his only appearance of the season came as a second-half substitute against Barrow in the Carabao Cup on September 24.
Notably, though, he was not included in the matchday squads for the games against Bournemouth and West Ham last month when both James and Gusto were unavailable.

Maresca, instead, opted for centre-backs Axel Disasi and Wesley Fofana to fill in.
Even more alarmingly, Acheampong has not played for the Under-21s since September 15.
That is despite starting four of their first five games of the season.
Acheampong was left out of the squad for the Premier League Cup clash at Bournemouth on Monday.
But he is not injured – and even featured twice for England U20s during the October international break.
The report claims the situation will not be resolved unless he puts pen to paper on a new deal.
But Chelsea are hopeful of tying their highly-rated youngster down, especially amid interest from other clubs.
The likes of fellow right-backs Tariq Lamptey and Tino Livramento ended up leaving Chelsea to advance their careers.
Academy graduates Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher, meanwhile, were allowed to depart after entering the final year of their contracts.
Chelsea declined to comment when approached by SunSport.

LIVERPOOL held on to beat Chelsea 2-1 in a thriller as they moved to the top of the Premier League table.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring against his former club from the penalty spot after Levi Colwill tripped Curtis Jones in the box.
Chelsea went into the break trailing and it was nearly worse, only for VAR to overturn a second Liverpool penalty after Robert Sanchez’s lunge on Jones.
The Blues came out from the break flying and Nicolas Jackson equalised.
But they failed to hold on with star of the show Jones netting the winner just minutes later.

MANCHESTER UNITED allegedly sent a representative to watch two Serie A stars in action at the weekend – but fans are not satisfied.
The scout flew to Italy on Sunday for Napoli‘s clash with Empoli.
Antonio Conte‘s side clinched a 1-0 win thanks to a penalty from Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The 23-year-old was one of two players on United’s radar during the match, Italian outlet Tutto Mercato claims.
Centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno was also being watched by the scout.
However, several Man Utd fans are not excited by the prospect of potentially signing both stars – especially Kvaratskhelia.
One person took to social media to write: “Watching the wrong players.”
Another commented: “Stop this! United don’t need another LW!”

Kanye has denied the claims.
Alexandra was seen looking tense after the sex claims were revealed.

Bianca and Alexandra’s relationship was put under the spotlight after the musician’s sordid comments were revealed.

CHRISTIAN McCaffrey’s wife has given fans an update on the star running back’s condition.
McCaffrey has yet to play a single snap during the 2024 NFL season.
McCaffrey was originally on track to start the season with the San Francisco 49ers, but an injury setback forced him out Week 1.
At first it was thought to only be a minor setback, but McCaffrey was soon placed on injured reserve.
Concern only grew further when the superstar running back flew to Germany to seek out treatment on his injured Achilles.
Now, seven weeks into the season, McCaffrey has yet to play a snap while the 49ers struggle to start the season.
San Francisco is hosting the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8, and they could use some reinforcements to ensure that they don’t fall even further below .500.
At 3-4, the 49ers are already one loss away from matching their loss total from the 2023 season, and their Super Bowl hopes could be fading fast.
With a bye week coming up, the Niners will be desperate to return to .500 before getting some rest.
It is possible that McCaffrey could come back for this game to give the 49ers a boost, but they could also hold him out until they return from bye on November. 10.
The team hasn’t given much of an indication either way, but McCaffrey’s wife, Olivia Culpo, may have given 49ers fans the update they are looking for.
On her Instagram Story, Culpo posted a picture of McCaffrey swimming in a pool with a caption saying he is back.
“Flipper boy is back,” the caption said.
While Culpo shared her opinion on social media, the 49ers might not feel the same way.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that he would be “surprised” if McCaffrey returned to the team for the Cowboys game.
He indicated that it would be more likely for the running back to return after the bye against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Video obtained by The Sun shows a speedboat-full of police pulling up to the side of a flotilla of the billionaire Facebook chief’s vessels in San Diego.
Officers swooped on suspect Christopher Gerritt, 40 after he was spotted throwing objects into the water.
Gerritt is a known sex offender and was believed to have been on meth at the time of the break-in, US TV reports.
Three of Meta CEO Zuckerberg’s boats – including the £250million mega-yacht dubbed Launchpad – were moored near the California city’s Broadway Pier last Saturday afternoon.
Brit tourist Jonathan Carr, 35, revealed to The Sun: “The police intercepted him, tied up the man’s boat and arrested him.
“Police were fully armed and had guns pointed at him throughout.”
Jonathan, from Brighton, saw armed cops on a boat with their weapons drawn as the suspect approached the yacht in San Diego Marina.
Cops later said that Gerritt had been arrested at the scene for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for violations related to his status as a registered sex offender.
Jon, who works in recruitment and was in San Diego on a business trip, shot video of the dramatic scene on his phone.
He added: “I was taking pictures of his new boat when armed police were called out to stop a man on a small boat trying to gain access unlawfully.
“He pulled up alongside the yacht, but he was seen by bystanders, and police were called out.”
Another witness said locals had spotted Zuckerberg’s collection of luxury ships, which had been in the harbour since September 26.
Pointing at the Launchpad superyacht and a smaller support vessel – called Wingman – Lawrence Cerna said: “It’s nice to see wealth from the outside! I will never attain anything like that.”
The tech tycoon’s main yacht is 387ft long and can accommodate 49 crew plus 24 guests in lavish cabins.
The yacht – one of the most expensive ever built and made by Dutch firm Feadship – includes a tennis court, helicopter deck, private cinema, a gym, and a deck jacuzzi.
It was originally commissioned by Russian oligarch Vladimir Potanin in 2018, before being sold to a mystery American – later revealed to be Zuckerberg – earlier this year.
It was unclear if Zuckerberg, 40 – one of the world’s richest men with a fortune of more than £150billion – was in San Diego at the time.

A spokeswoman for San Diego Harbor Police said: “On October 19, 2024 at approximately 2:30 p.m. the Port of San Diego Harbor Police received reports of an individual trespassing on a vessel and throwing items into San Diego Bay.
“Harbor Police officers arrived at the scene and made verbal contact with the suspect, identified as Christopher Gerritt.
“Gerritt was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for violations related to his status as a registered sex offender.
“Fortunately, there were no injuries reported to either the officers or the suspect during the incident.
“This investigation is ongoing. Further details will be released once the investigation is completed.”
Gerritt was still in custody as of today with his bail set at US$20,000 (£15,400).
Zuckerberg hasn’t commented on the situation.
