Bentley creates custom paint job that changes at touch of a button and it’s a look into the future of cars

LUXURY manufacturer Bentley has created a custom paint job that changes at the touch of a button – in a radical look at the future of cars.

At this year’s Miami Art Week, the British automaker unveiled its incredible collaboration with New York-based tattoo artist Keith McCurdy, known as Bang Bang.

Known for tattooing the likes of Rihanna and LeBron James, McCurdy has developed an ink that can be turned on, off, or erased with different wavelengths of light.

Bentley has used this idea to create a special art car, based on the stylish Bentley Bentayga, and unveiled it at the recent Miami Art Show.

Along with their customisation division Mulliner, McCurdy designed a patented ultraviolet print for the car’s extra special wrap.

The design, which changes from harsh shapes on the bonnet to fluid patterns on the sides, it said to symbolise the journey from stress to calm.

Bentley now plans to allow at least one customer to create a unique UV-painted vehicle with McCurdy, with a new collaboration expected sometime in 2025.

This comes as Bentley looks to highlight the Bentayga as it goes up against rivals such as the newer Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Ferrari Purosangue.

Bentley’s collaboration with Bang Bang was overshadowed at the Florida-based Art Week by Jaguar.

The famous car brand unveiled their Type 00 concept at the “avant-garde” art event in Miami last month, with a deliberate emphasis away from the traditional auto show setting.

Jaguar also riled up gearheads after the iconic car maker axed its famous big cat logo.

Unveiling the change in a glossy new advert – which failed to show any cars – the sports car brand of 89 years entered their long-promised new era with bright colours and catwalk models.

The 30-second ad displayed a number of slogans, including “live vivid”, “delete ordinary” and “copy nothing”, but has seemingly alienated old school fans.

Elsewhere, an iconic Porsche driven by three-time Formula One champion Niki Lauda is set to go under the hammer for a jaw-dropping price.

This beautiful 1966 Porsche 910 is the first of its kind ever produced and is in immaculate condition for such a legendary race car.

F1 stalwart Helmut Marko has even taken the car for a spin back in his glory days meaning the lucky buyer is getting their hands on a piece of racing royalty.

The pristine white motor is truly a thing of beauty after it underwent a complete restoration that has returned it to its former glory days.

Complete with the sleek Porsche logo along the side of the car and real racing stickers on the front and side, the first edition 910 is sure to fetch a high price at auction.

This particular model – with the chassis number 910-001 – is one of just 12 varieties ever made with a “short tail” body style.

It also boasts the accolade of being one of just six 910s registered for road use.

Its incredible legacy and amazing condition is set to see it sell for over £1.7million when it goes under the hammer next month.
