Bride Wants to Capture ‘Unique’ Wedding Photo, Result Has Internet Stunned

There’s always a lot of pressure to capture the perfect shot of the happy couple at every wedding, and while one bride’s novel idea to use a mirror in her pictures initially worried her photographers, the stunning result is winning praise across the internet.

Photographers Jessica Donaldson, 29, and Matthew Donaldson, 31, of Focus First Studios were at a wedding in Maroochydore Botanical Gardens in Australia on October 5 when the bride told them about her unusual idea for the pictures.

Rather than the typical wedding photos of the happy couple standing beside their bridesmaids and groomsmen, she had a much better way of capturing the shot. As the bridal party stood around a large mirror, the bride and groom stood in front of it and could be seen kissing in the reflection.

Jessica Donaldson, of Brisbane, Australia, told Newsweek that she “hadn’t seen anything like it before” and she didn’t know how it would turn out. But when she saw the final result, she said she was amazed by how well it turned out.

“They said they’d have all the bridal party stand around the mirror and then have their reflection in the mirror. We prompted the couple to kiss, and it looked so cute,” she said. “We thought it was such a fun, creative idea. We didn’t think it would turn out so well, but we loved the finished results. It’s such a unique idea that we truly hadn’t seen before.”

The bride and groom were delighted with the outcome too, as Donaldson said they were extremely happy with how the photograph looked.

Although the idea sounds rather complicated, it seems it wasn’t actually that difficult to create. Donaldson joked that “everyone got the brief” and knew exactly what they were doing, so it didn’t take long to get them into place.

On October 11, the photographers shared a behind-the-scenes video of how they created the perfect shot on TikTok (@focusfirststudios) and it has amazed social media users. The clip had amassed more than 2.4 million views and over 213,400 likes at the time of writing.

The reaction to the video has been beyond anything Donaldson ever expected, but she hopes it might even inspire other couples to try something new on their big day too.

“All of the comments are super positive; with many people wishing they had tried it at their wedding. Thousands of people have shared it and saved the video, so we think it could definitely be a new wedding trend.

“We just started TikTok, so we are shocked at the response. We never ever expected to go this viral, I believe we went from 5 followers to over 500 in less than a week, all because of this video.”

With more than 290 comments on the viral TikTok post, many internet users have hailed the creative wedding photo idea and want to try it out themselves.

One comment reads: “I want a picture like this at my wedding, I am obsessed!”

Another TikToker wrote: “And just like that…she started a new 2025 wedding trend.”

“Great idea. Turned out so cute,” added another TikTok user.

While another commenter responded: “Freaking genius! What a great idea!”
