Strictly judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse break down in tears after Chris McCausland’s moving show dance
STRICTLY judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse broke down in tears this evening as they watched Chris McCausland’s show dance.
The comedian, who is the first blind contestant to appear on the show, wowed the audience and those watching at home with his high energy performance to New Radicals’ 1998 hit You Get What You Give.
Head judge Shirley struggled to hold back her tears and told him how emotional she was by it.
Shirley praised him for “breaking new ground” and said that “things don’t need to be perfect to be special”.
Judge Anton Du Beke said that he is probably the “most extraordinary” person in the 20 years of the show, but admitted he was not a perfect dancer.
The pair were given 38 points by the judges.
Chris thanked the public “for voting for him”, as he admitted he would not be in the final without them.
Earlier in the evening, Chris recreated his “blackout moment” as he did his couple’s choice routine – to Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) by John Lennon.
Shirley told him it was a “genuine improvement” after they performed the dance in week eight.
Motsi said “watching you dance is so, so incredible”, noting that he does not have the “orientation” to see that he is spinning Dianne around on his shoulders in the dark.
In the routine, Chris can be seen placing his hands over Dianne’s eyes as the room faded to black, before the ballroom went dark and then the light comes back on with pyrotechnics flaring in the background.
