SURELY Cristiano Ronaldo playing at the Racecourse with Wrexham is a step too far – no matter how Hollywood they have become.
But William Gallas believes that the move is “possible”.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to make the blockbuster transfer to Wrexham[/caption]
Wrexham have been on a remarkable rise back up the football pyramid since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took ownership of the club in November 2020.
The American A-lister millionaires have regularly stated that their aim, however hopeful, is to get Wrexham playing in the Premier League.
The Welsh club sit second in League One after securing back-to-back promotions.
Despite that, the idea of Ronaldo signing for Wrexham does seem far-fetched.
But former Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea defender Gallas can see the potential move happening in the not-so-distant future.
“Footballers and football clubs are now obsessed with their brands too and their sponsors, you can make a lot of money and not just from your wages at your club.
“Now everything is about social media and having millions of followers, both Wrexham and Ronaldo have huge profiles so why not.
“I have spoken to my former team-mates about social media and everything that goes on now and it feels like a different world! So many things are now possible.
“Ronaldo is more than just a footballer, he’s a product and he’s also still scoring so many goals on the pitch, there will be so many clubs still happy to have him.”
But despite leaving many EFL sides envious of their near £2m spent in the summer window, Wrexham could never match Ronaldo’s wages.
George Evans’ £7,200 weekly wage makes him Wrexham’s highest paid star, while Ronaldo takes home £3.4 million every week.
The former Manchester United forward, 39, is currently plying his trade at Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

SHOPPERS have been racing to their nearest Aldi to snap up some discounted toys.
This comes after one mum spotted a bargain too good to miss in her local shop, and it’s perfect for storing away until Chritmas.
The bargain shop has loads of toys on offer right now[/caption]
One mum snapped up a scooter for under a quid from her local store[/caption]
Other shoppers have been going wild for the wooden toy range[/caption]
Taking to the popular money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, which has over 2.5 million members, one mum picked up a scooter for less than a quid.
“Popped into the Aldi toy event. Came out with a Gabby’s scooter for 99p,” she wrote in the group, alongside a snap of the bargain buy.
In the picture, the mum showed the cute scooter on the shelf with the price tag marking it at just 99p.
Unsurprisingly, other parents were left stunned by the mega cheap scooter and wanted to bag a deal of their own and the post currently has over 370 comments from other Aldi fans.
One commented on the post: “This is such a good find, well done you.”
“Love this, well done,” a second wrote.
And a third chimed in, tagging a friend: “This would be great for Xmas.”
Meanwhile, others pointed out that they hadn’t spotted the same scooter in their nearest Aldi yet.
The scooter isn’t the only toy parents have been loving though, the retailer has also released a range of wooden toys, perfect if you want something a little more classic for your little ones.
The BBC’s natural history boss Sreya Biswas yesterday announced the corporation’s first hi-tech nature programme, called Spy in the Troop.
AI computer learning techniques have been built into existing spy creature cameras, which are disguised animatronics that move among groups of animals.
The gadgets will examine a troop of monkeys’ calls and facial expressions in order to read their feelings and build a catalogue of footage.
It will replace the tireless work of camera crews, who wait for hours in tough conditions to capture the best action, as well as save costs.
Alex Vail, a cameraman on Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet, said: “I recently did a shoot where we waited six weeks from sunrise to sunset every day just waiting for this kill to happen in the jungle.
“You have to be listening carefully the whole time as you know this thing will only last for ten seconds and you simply can’t miss it.
“In the end, the event we’d waited all that time for sadly didn’t happen, which was pretty gutting to be honest, but that’s just part of the job.”
Biswas said the robot cameras will be the most advanced tech ever used in natural history.
She added: “Our landmarks are varied nowadays and we are trying to turn the wheel.”

We are used to seeing him as a quiz whiz on ITV teatime show The Chase.
But Paul Sinha, known to viewers as The Sinnerman, showed off his naughty side with X-rated and close-to-the-bone gags as he hosted the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards.
Paul Sinha, familiar to viewers as The Sinnerman, revealed his cheeky side with X-rated and edgy jokes while hosting the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards[/caption]
He was entertaining hundreds of guests at the Roundhouse in North London for the awards that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.
But it was his jokes on stage that really got people talking.
Paul, who works as a comedian when not showing off his general knowledge on telly, told the crowd: “A special welcome to those of you who are in full-time employment, because you won’t have a clue who I am. So allow me to introduce myself. Yes, my name is Paul Sinha but I’m better known as The Sinnerman.
“It’s a s**t nickname. It means nothing. I don’t mind, I feel I’ve dodged a bullet given the names of the other Chasers — The Governess, The Vixen, The Menace, The Beast and The Dark Destroyer.
“I’m the only Chaser who’s not named after a sex toy. I have to tell you that hours of research went into that joke.”
Dressed in a floral suit, he went on to talk about diversity and inclusion before making a joke about Sir Keir Starmer and the freebies scandal in the Labour Party.
Paul said: “There has been progress. Now, if you come out of the closet as a British Asian, you receive a telegram from the Prime Minister. It just says: ‘Can you buy me some clothes please?’.”
But there was one quip that probably won’t go down well with his employers at ITV. Signing off for the evening, Paul referenced the Phillip Schofield controversy.
On meeting his husband, he said: “In one fell swoop I kicked into touch the triple crown of gay relationships. He was younger than me, get in, he was better looking than me, get in, and his job was ITV runner.
“No! I’m only joking. Nobody heard me tell that joke this evening. His job was trainee solicitor.”
Awkward.
The annual awards ceremony is now in its 13th year, and there were loads of gay celebrities there, along with plenty of others keen to show their support.
I’m sure the prospect of a free dinner and getting sloshed at someone else’s expense helped, too.
Can’t say I blame them.

Although he’s not been in the best of health, quick-witted Elton still managed to crack jokes on stage after receiving his award, which is in the shape of the letter “a”.
He said: “I can think of many things that A stands for. A**ehole comes to mind. But let’s not talk about Elon Musk this evening. Let’s have a good time.”
Naughty.

Matt: No to more X Factor
Former X Factor winner Matt Terry said he does not want to see the show back on UK screens[/caption]
He may have won The X Factor in 2016 but Matt Terry doesn’t want to see it back on screens.
The singer said: “It’s not good for people and their mental health. I’m strong and I know how I dealt with it.
“You go in there and you’re built up. I was a waiter and I’d never done any of this stuff and you’re thrust in.
“If it comes back I just hope they put psychological care in.”
It was his first Attitude Awards since coming out in March and he will release an EP next month inspired by his first gay relationship, which has now ended.
On what his ex will think of the songs, he said: “There are some on there that I’m not sure he’ll be that happy with.
“But I want to tell my story and I hope it will help others.”
One former Strictly Come Dancing star was left a little miffed when someone ate their dessert at the bash.
They were busy chatting as the third course was brought around to guests, which led someone else on their table to think it was going spare.
Their tablemate took a second helping of the chocolate cake with pear compote and chocolate crisps, only for the star to return and throw a strop over the missing pudding.

“My tour starts on my birthday and somebody said to me, ‘Aw, that’s a shame’.
“I said, ‘No. At my age? It’s great that I can work’.”
Telly ho, Jordan
Jordan North skipped the after-party to stay fresh for filming a pilot for a new TV show[/caption]
Jordan North hasn’t been on TV much since he finished second on I’m A Celeb four years ago, but that’s about to change.
The broadcaster, who earlier this year left Radio 1 to take over the Capital Breakfast Show, is launching a telly career with pal William Hanson, his co-host on hit podcast Help I Sexted My Boss.
The pair were yesterday shooting a pilot episode for a new show so Jordan skipped the after-party to stay fresh.
He said of the pilot: “It’s something we’ve been working on for a while and we’re really happy with it. Hopefully it will get signed off. Things were a bit quiet because I’ve been focusing on Capital for the last six months – we launched the show in April and I’ve been focusing on that. So now I’m trying other stuff.”
He added: “I can’t act, can’t sing, can’t dance. But as long as I’m on the radio, I’m happy. I love being on the radio every day.”
Yet he reckons his radio gig is not unlike telly, with cameras often on him for live streams and social media.
He said: “They’re filming constantly. I put tinted moisturiser on every morning.”

SHOCKING footage shows the moment an out-of-control driver smashes into a barrier after leading cops on a 70mph chase.
Billy Ronchi, 22, was was spotted by officers driving erratically on Derby Road in Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, just after 9pm on January 18.
Billy Ronchi smashed into a safety barrier after leading cops on a 70mph chase through 20mph zone[/caption]
Ronchi accelerated away from cops after they pulled him over[/caption]
After a high speed chase he lost ontrol of the car leaving it a smoking wreck[/caption]
An unmarked police vehicle began following Ronchi’s red Seat Toledo, at which point he turned into a 20mph side road and pulled over when indicated to.
But as one cop left the car to speak to Ronchi, he sped away.
The officer ran back to his vehicle and turned on the emergency sirens, engaging in a pursuit with the rogue motorist.
Ronchi hit speeds of more than 70mph in roads with both 20mph and 40mph limits and almost collided with a van and an oncoming car.
The reckless driver went through red lights and over a roundabout before braking to avoid colliding with an HGV.
He then proceeded to speed down the wrong side of the carriageway on Coventry Lane.
Here, Ronchi lost control of the car, causing it to bounce off a metal barrier and spin in the carriageway multiple times before coming to a stop.
The collision caused a significant amount of damage to the front of the car and debris was left strewn across the road.
Officers pulled Ronchi from the smoking vehicle and arrested him.
Ronchi admitted dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without a licence or insurance.
The defendant appeared at Nottingham Crown Court, sitting at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on Tuesday, October 8.
Recorder Michael Stephens handed him a 16-month sentence suspended for two years.
Ronchi was also disqualified from driving for three years, ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and ordered to attend 14 days of rehabilitation.
He was also ordered to pay £150 costs and a victim surcharge.
Ronchi, of Baker Street, Alvaston, Derby, had been disqualified from driving in early 2023 after being caught driving while over the legal alcohol limit.
He later told police he thought this disqualification had expired after six months.
Ronchi claimed that he hadn’t realised it was a 14-month long disqualification.
The court heard how Ronchi had allegedly also only bought the car that night an hour earlier and had a 15-year-old passenger in the car.
His lack of licence also meant he was not insured to drive, and the icy weather conditions on the night meant his actions were even more dangerous than they would’ve been otherwise.
‘STUPID AND IMPULSIVE’
Mr Stephens told Ronchi: “At the age of 22 you have already got one conviction under your belt. That’s not a good start to anyone’s criminal career.
“It seems you are lucky to find yourself with only a dangerous driving charge.
“From the way you were driving, you could’ve ended up with a charge of causing serious injury or even death. You went at extraordinary speed.
“How no one else was involved in the collision is only thanks to good fortune, it seems to me.
“This was a stupid, wrong and impulsive piece of behaviour.”
Sergeant James Skeats, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Ronchi demonstrated a complete disregard for the safety of other road users when he sped through a built-up residential area in such a reckless manner.
“Thankfully no one was injured by his display of driving that night, but that is no thanks to him.
“Ronchi avoided colliding with another vehicle through sheer luck as he drove at excessive speed and along the wrong side of the carriageway for a significant distance.
“He was very fortunate not to suffer serious injury when he lost control of the car and crashed into a safety barrier.
“The message from the force is clear. We will not tolerate people who break the law by driving vehicles in a manner that puts other road users, and themselves, at risk of serious injury or death.”

2 weeks agoUSA UpdateComments Off on Four reasons why your PIP payments could be STOPPED – and checks to make to avoid losing cash
MILLIONS suffering from long-term health conditions or disabilities get extra help through Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
The payments can be worth as much as £108.55 a week, so if you don’t claim it already, it could be a good idea to check if you’re eligible.
People with long-term health conditions can get help through PIP[/caption]
PIP is available to those aged 16 or over but have not yet reached the state pension age.
Crucially, you must also have a health condition or disability where you either have had difficulties with daily living or getting around – or both- for three months.
You should also expect these difficulties to continue for at least nine months (unless you’re terminally ill with less than 12 months to live).
But even if you’ve got an active claim for PIP, there are some scenarios where they can be stopped.
Tom Farquhar, benefits information specialist at disabilitycharity Scope, has shed light on four of them.
He said last year: “When it comes to your PIP there are certain changes that you might need to report to stop your benefit being cut off by the DWP.
“There are risks associated with not reporting a change in your situation, including overpayment or even prosecution.
“That’s why it’s important to report the following changes to DWP as soon as possible.”
Going into hospital
If you have to go into hospital for more than 28 days, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will pause your PIP.
However, if you are under 18 or paying for a private hospital stay, payments won’t be stopped.
It’s worth noting if you leave the hospital before the 28 days is up, you can still have payments stopped if you go back.
Tom said: “If you go back to hospital within 28 days of leaving, it will count as the same stay and add up.”
As an example, someone might go to hospital for 20 days and then go home.
After 10 days at home, they might go back into hospital.
The DWP would stop paying this person PIP if they were in hospital for more than eight days.
The same 28-day rule applies if you go into a care home.
Again, if you are paying for the care home privately this rule won’t affect you.
Going to prison
The DWP will stop PIP payments if you are in prison or held in custody for 28 days or longer.
Once you are no longer in prison or custody it is your responsibility to contact the DWP and tell them you are out.
Tom said: “Once you are no longer in prison or custody you’ll need to contact the them and they’ll start payments up again.”
You go abroad
If you leave England, Scotland or Wales, for more than 13 weeks the DWP will stop any PIP payments.
If you leave these same countries because you need medical treatment, you have longer until you stop receiving payments.
Tom said: “If you leave Great Britain for longer than 13 weeks, or 26 weeks if you go for medical treatment, the DWP will stop your PIP payment.”
Your personal circumstances change
If your personal details change, such as name or address, or your doctor changes you could see PIP payments stop.
So you should tell the DWP as soon as possible about any changes to avoid this.
Any changes to your personal circumstances might impact what elements of PIP you can receive too.
Tom said: “It’s important to report these changes so that you can get the correct amount of PIP for your needs, and to avoid being cut off or prosecution for not relaying updates.”
You can update the DWP on any change in circumstances via their enquiry line – 0800 121 4433.
If your PIP payments have stopped and you don’t know why, you can call Scope for help on 0808 800 3333.
The helpline is open seven days a week, Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm, and 10am to 6pm at the weekends.
Alternatively, you can email helpline@scope.org.uk.
What is PIP?
PIP is a benefit given to people suffering from a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.
This condition might make it hard for you to carry out certain everyday tasks or get around.
You can get the benefit even if you’re working, have savings or are getting most other benefits.
There are two parts to PIP – the daily living part and the mobility part.
You might be entitled to the daily living part of PIP if you need help with:
PIP is made up of two parts and whether you get one or both of these depends on how severely your condition affects you.
How much you get also depends on how your condition affects you.
You may get the mobility part of PIP if you need help going out or moving around. The weekly rate for this is either £26.90 or £71.
While on the daily living part of PIP, the weekly rate is either £68.10 or £101.75 – and you could get both elements, so up to £172.75 in total.
You’ll be assessed by a health professional to work out the level of help you can get and your rate will be regularly reviewed to make sure you’re getting the right support.
Who is eligible?
PIP is available to people aged 16 or over but not yet at the state pension age.
You must have lived in England or Wales for at least two of the last three years, and be in one of these countries when you apply.
The process is different in Northern Ireland, and there are additional rules if you live abroad or if you’re not a British citizen.
In Scotland, you will need to apply for Adult Disability Payment (ADP) instead.
Crucially, you must also have a health condition or disability where you either have had difficulties with daily living or getting around (or both) for three months, and you expect these difficulties to continue for at least nine months (unless you’re terminally ill with less than six months to live).
You can claim PIP at the same time as other benefits, except the armed forces independence payment.
If you receive constant attendance allowance you will receive less of the daily living part of PIP.
If you get war pensioners‘ mobility supplement you will not get the mobility part of PIP.
