The genocide kills dreams, not just people

Over the past 20-odd years, I have written a series of poems. I have kept them locked away in a folder, dreaming of publishing them accompanied by illustrations that would bring each poem to life. I needed someone to help transform my words into powerful images. One October evening, earlier this year, I was scrolling […]

Man City vs Man Utd LIVE SCORE: Premier League updates as Amorim gets first taste of Manchester derby – latest

A HUGE derby awaits in Manchester as City and United go head-to-head in a colossal Premier League clash at the Etihad this afternoon.

The Red Devils will be looking to pounce on their local rivals, with Pep Guardiola‘s side claiming just one win from their last 10 games in all competitions.

But United don’t exactly go into today’s blockbuster clash in scintillating form after back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

That said, new boss Ruben Amorim has got the better of Guardiola once already this season, with his Sporting side smashing City 4-1 in the Champions League back in November.

One of the world’s best hotels is in a UK national park with lakeside cabin, woodland cottages and annual festival

THE world’s best hotels have been revealed – and one in the UK has been named.

Lime Wood is a sprawling hotel in a the New Forest National Park, which opened back in 2009 although the building dates back to 1750.

And Conde Nast Traveller named it in their Best Hotels in the World: The Gold List 2025.

They praised the country house hotel for its “utilising its surroundings to put nature, relaxation, and nourishment front and centre”. as well as its quaint rooms and spa.

They wrote: “The real star of the show is the New Forest, the venue for bike rides and guided forages among trees, heathland, and wild horses.

“Here, families, couples and women on girls’ trips take restorative country walks before kicking off their wellies for high-quality meals and spa treatments in lushly vegetated surroundings.

“[For kids,] Lime Wood provides bicycles for all ages for rides in the forest and wellies for walks and foraging expeditions while Hartnett Holder & Co restaurant offers a children’s menu, and the hotel provides cots, baby monitors and a babysitting service if required.”

A number of celebs have been spotted at the hotel over the years.

Noel Gallagher held his wedding to to then-wife Sara back in 2011, while Ewan McGregor was spotted there with his now-wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

And in 2022, Katie Price stayed at the hotel with her son Harvey after splitting from ex Carl Woods.

The hotel, which underwent a huge £30million revamp in 2019, has 33 rooms, including 16 in the main house as well as a lakeside cabin and woodland cottages.

Each one comes with its own stocked pantry and super king-size beds, with some having roll top baths.

Families can choose the forest cabin, tucked away from the house with bunk beds and kitchenettes.

Or the lake cabin is like being on “your own private little island” with it floating over the water.

When it comes to food, the hotel has its Hartnett Holder & Co restaurant, with an Italian-inspired menu including risottos, gnocchi and fresh fish and meat dishes.

The Herb House was named spa of the year 2024 by The Times, with treatments, forest hydropool and even a sauna.

And every year it hosts the Smoked & Uncut festival, with food and music.

Celebrating it’s 10th anniversary in 2023, headliners have included Kelis, Sister Sledge and Razorlight, although it was suspended this year to allow for a break.

Its around 1hr30 by London, or 20 minutes from the coast.

The New Forest was named the most popular destination in the UK for an out-of-season holiday.

Looking at criteria such as cost and number of activities, holidaycottages.co.uk found that the Hampshire national park was the best.

The New Forest National Park is the perfect place for walking as there’s over 140 miles of trails and footpaths.

Most paths are signposted with wooden posts, and you might even spot some free-roaming ponies along the way.

Little-known way to always avoid being ‘catfished’ by fancy hotels before booking a holiday

HERE is a little-known way to ensure you always avoid being “catfished” by fancy hotels before booking a holiday.

Travel expert, Bryony Deery, 32, says holidaymakers shouldn’t trust everything they see on social media – but reveals how to use it to your advantage.

A travel expert says she finds holiday inspiration via social media

Bryony, founder of Pilates by Bryony, leads workout classes around the globe.

As Dior Beauty’s wellness expert, she also hosts retreats with Belmond’s Eastern & Oriental Express trains in Malaysia and the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in France.

When it comes to booking a holiday or a hotel, she recommends looking at tagged photos on social media apps such as Instagram.

She says: “I make sure to look at tagged pictures of hotels on Instagram to see if they actually match what the hotel is advertising on their website and branded accounts, to avoid being catfished by overly flattering photos.”

Bryony admits she does “find inspiration on social media”.

Say someone posts tips on cities on Instagram throughout the year, she’ll save them in her travel file and come back to them when the time is right.

She adds: “The algorithm on TikTok is also so good that it serves you all the inspiration you need.”

When it comes to flights, Bryony, who’s also the co-founder of Cloudcha matcha, says she’s usually loyal to British Airways.

But for trips further abroad she’ll opt for Emirates.

She says: “It’s just on another level. The seats and service are amazing.”

This goes for the food too, she explains: “I don’t normally eat when I fly.

“I’ll bring my own food instead. But the quality on Emirates for the food is so much better.”

It comes as two holiday makers were left “mortified” after their luxury break to Greece turned out to be a fluke, LADbible reports.

Friends Lewis Stacey and Christopher Smith forked out £750 each on the islands four-star boutique Porto Demo hotel.

They booked through loveholidays which promised them a “luxury” stay, close to the beach, with entertainment, an all-inclusive buffet and much more.

However, when they arrived they realised their trip to paradise had been “AI or computer generated” online.

Lewis told LADbible: “It was mortifying, like, my stomach completely sank.”

He added: “None of it looked like what was advertised online. That was a huge part of the problem.”
