Sam’s Club to open first-ever all digital store and CEO promises members will see what it’s like to ‘shop in the future’

SAM’S Club is to open its first-ever all digital store, with the CEO promising members shoppers will see what it’s like to “shop in the future”.

Inside the club, set to open mid October, customers with have to use an app, Scan & Go, to keep track of their purchases as they stroll down the aisles.

Sam’s Club is to open its first-ever all digital store[/caption]

Instead of an area used for cash registers, the club will instead display online-only items.

Members can scan QR codes and then go straight to the items in the app.

Store workers will therefore have around a shocking four times more space for preparing customers’ e-commerce orders for pickup and home delivery, according to the company’s executives,

Sam’s Club CEO Chris Nicholas said: “It’s kind of the physical manifestation of a journey we’re trying to go on as a company.”

The CEO also added that upon its reopening, the location will become a hub for Sam’s Club‘s newest features and up-and-coming tech, hoping “it feels like what it’s like to shop in the future“.

Nicholas explained: “The idea is that over time, we will be 100 per cent digital engagement as a business, and you’ve got to prove that things work before you scale them.”

It comes as Sam’s Club has apologized to shoppers who have lashed out at the chain over the payment methods it offers.

Customers have called on the Costco rival to roll out a particular method in its warehouses.

Sam’s Club is one of the few retailers that doesn’t allow shoppers to pay for goods via Apple Pay.

Not all shoppers welcome the fact that they cannot use Apple Pay.

In an X post, one shopper urged the retailer to get with the times.

They claimed they were having payment issues at a café in the warehouse.

The shopper also complained they didn’t want to use the Walmart app.

Sam’s Club apologized to the shopper.

“We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused,” they said.

“We want to thank you for letting us know about the issues as well so that we may have this opportunity to improve this for the future of our clubs.”

Shoppers have blasted the retailer for not rolling out Apple Pay and Google Pay services.

In response to another customer, the company said it would pass on the shopper’s complaint to the relevant department.

Which benefits do Plus members at Sam's Club receive?

Sam's Club shoppers can choose between a $50-a-year Club membership or a $110-a-year Plus membership.

‘My Jake died here…it breaks my heart into a million pieces,’ says mum of victim at vigil a year on from Hamas massacre

A BRITISH couple poured out their heartbreak — and fury — as they joined families of October 7 victims at a remembrance vigil in Israel yesterday.

Michael and Lisa Marlowe were the only Britons among victims’ relatives at a gathering marking the first anniversary of the Hamas horror.

And their contrasting emotions laid bare the agony of hundreds of families struggling to process their pain a year on from the outrage which destroyed their lives.

Mum Lisa fought back tears as she recalled her 26-year-old son Jake — a happy-go-lucky boy “living his best life” who had everything to look forward to.

Lisa from Potters Bar, Herts, said: “I’m standing at the spot where my son spoke to me for the last time exactly a year ago and it breaks my heart into a million pieces.

“But I had to come here because this is the place where I feel closest to him now — it’s become sacred to me.

“It was 4.30am in the morning, UK time, when I last spoke to him. He just said, ‘There’s a lot of rockets and crazy stuff going on mum but I’ll be OK. I’ll call you later — I love you.’

“But he never called again and that was the last time I ever spoke to him. Four days later it was confirmed he was among the dead and was killed trying to help others to get away from the terrorists.

“That was just what he was like — he’d do anything for anyone.”

Lisa said she’d visited the desert festival site five times in the past year to feel close to her lost boy.

And she has formed a close bond with other victims’ relatives, who she hugged amid emotional scenes.

Carpenter and musician Jake was commemorated by a touching hand-painted stone next to his festival memorial’s candle yesterday which read simply, “Love You Son”.

But his dad Michael’s sorrow gave way to anger as he tended the memorial to the son killed by beasts he called “Hamas scum”.

The couple spoke to The Sun at the dawn observance yesterday — next to the spot where Jake was killed by a volley of nine bullets.

Exactly a year earlier, he had been working at the Negev Desert festival site as a part-time unarmed security assistant.

It was 4.30am in the morning, UK time, when I last spoke to him. He just said, ‘There’s a lot of rockets and crazy stuff going on mum but I’ll be OK. I’ll call you later — I love you’

Consumed by rage

Carefree young revellers had been raving to a high-energy dance track called Pixel by Space Cat when rockets and terrorists aboard paragliders filled the sky at 6.29am.

Yesterday, the same track was played on a sound stage then cut short at exactly 6.29am — before an overcome woman’s screams cut through the silence.

Dad Michael, 53, told how his life has been destroyed by Jake’s death as Hamas thugs from Gaza killed 1,200 and kidnapped 251.

But he has also found himself consumed by rage towards his son’s savage killers — and British Foreign Office mandarins whom he says have offered no support.

This was a festival dedicated to peace where young people came to celebrate life

Jake's dad Michael

Michael told The Sun yesterday: “We haven’t lost Jake — he was taken from us by evil Hamas scum.

“This was a festival dedicated to peace where young people came to celebrate life.

“But these worthless, subhuman animals from Gaza came to kill them. They won’t talk or negotiate — all they want to do is kill.

“A year on, we are still in terrible pain and I can’t tell you how much I miss my boy. I miss everything about him — his smile, his sense of humour, everything.

“He had met the beautiful girl of his dreams in Israel and told me he wanted to marry her.

“He had gone to work with security on the site to earn extra cash as he prepared for a new chapter in his life.

“He told me about his plans to propose to her in Jerusalem in December but his life ended on October 7 and that never happened.

“Now his girlfriend is heartbroken like the rest of us — all of our lives have been decimated by Hamas.”

‘Everything changed for us’

Michael and Lisa revealed their most heartbreaking task has been explaining to their autistic daughter Natasha, 25, that her big brother will never come home.

Michael said: “She was very close to Jake and still struggles with the fact that she won’t see him again.

“Everything changed for all of us on October 7.”

The vigil at the Nova Music Festival site at Re’im, just three miles from Gaza, was the biggest memorial event staged yesterday.

Hundreds of armed Hamas savages had stormed the site and killed 365 people.

Many of their families began gathering before dawn yesterday to remember lost loved ones and console each other amid heartbreaking scenes.

Each of the festival victims was commemorated by a photograph above memorials adorned with flickering flames and stones.

Families — many in t-shirts with pictures of their lost loved ones — wept and hugged each other tightly in the pre-dawn glow.

The sad commemoration was punctuated by the boom of outgoing Israeli artillery rounds blasting into Gaza and the rattle of heavy machine gun fire in the distance.

A massive security operation was launched to protect the site.

An Apache helicopter gunship hovered overhead, backed by drones scouring potential threats, and troops and police manned checkpoints leading to the venue.

A year on, we are still in terrible pain and I can’t tell you how much I miss my boy. I miss everything about him

Jake's dad Michael

The huge security presence was stepped up further to shield the arrival of Israeli president Isaac Herzog, who appeared on the stroke of 6.29am to console families.

Israel military chiefs later confirmed they’d been forced to take action after detecting threats to the anniversary events

Hamas fired 4,000 rockets on October 7 last year, but managed to launch little more than a handful yesterday.

They targeted Tel Aviv in a five-rocket salvo and also hit Sderot.

Most were intercepted but one of the Tel Aviv projectiles smashed a factory yards from a school in the east of the Israeli coastal city, injuring two women and leaving others in shock.

Israel remained on maximum alert while its forces battled Hamas’s allies Hezbollah across the Lebanese border.

Israeli warplanes continued to blast Hezbollah targets in the group’s stronghold’s in southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut as ground troops battled terrorist militia further south.

IDF chiefs said they had ordered the evacuation of 25 southern Lebanese towns and villages to expand ground operations and smash terror tunnels.

Hezbollah has continued to fire rockets at Israel, causing injuries in Haifa and Tiberias in the north of the country overnight.

‘BAN IRAN’S AGENTS’

By Noa Hoffman

LABOUR MPs yesterday urged Sir Keir Starmer to honour his vow to crack down on Iranian agents radicalising Brits.

They joined Tories telling him to proscribe the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The IRGC is the main supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah, both banned in the UK.

Its agents spread jihadi propaganda in the West.

Labour MP Jon Pearce, said: “Tehran’s army of fanatical antisemites is a threat to Israel. But its tentacles stretch way beyond the region — to Ukraine, where its missiles aid Putin’s slaughter of civilians, and to our shores where the IRGC plots to murder enemies on the streets of the UK.”

Labour MP Mike Tapp said: “By banning the IRGC Britain can strike a blow against Iranian-sponsored terror.”

In opposition, Sir Keir vowed to proscribe the IRGC if he won the election.

But yesterday he dodged questions over when he will fulfill his promise.

Marking the aniversary of Hamas’ October 7 slaughter, the PM added: “Fifteen British citizens were brutally slain that day, another has since died in captivity.

NFL fans fear Josh Allen retirement in worrying echoes of Tua Tagovailoa after concussion injury test in Bills-Texans

FANS are concerned for Josh Allen after he took a nasty hit on Sunday.

During the Buffalo Bills’ game against the Houston Texans, Josh Allen was forced out of the game briefly.

AP

CBS
Allen appeared to be unconscious momentarily[/caption]

On a play late in the fourth quarter, Allen was forced out of the pocket and started running away from pressure.

He was able to get his throw off, but a tackler wrapped his ankles and was able to force him down.

During that tackle, Allen went down hard and his head bounced off the turf in a scary scene.

For a moment it appeared that the Bills quarterback might have been unconscious, and medical staff tended to him for multiple minutes before picking him up and getting him off the field.

Allen went into the blue medical tent for evaluations, but quickly came out and put his helmet back on and went back into the game.

This sequence of events left many fans questioning how Allen was allowed back into the game.

There are NFL concussion evaluators for both teams that are meant to check players’ health and see if they can go back into the game.

If Allen was knocked out on the field, he probably should not have been allowed in the game.

Fans took to social media to share their concerns and question if Allen is okay.

“Josh Allen skipping the concussion protocol has become too regular of a thing,” one fan said.

“Completely wrong that he came back in the game. I hope he recovers with good health,” another fan said.

“With what we know about head trauma now, this looks bad” a third fan said.

“Man, he was out. Yikes…” a fourth fan said.

“Shame on the NFL, for real,” a fifth fan said.

Allen shared in his postgame press conference that he was flagged for taking a hit to the head, but didn’t share anything about the evaluation process.

NFL important dates

August 1 - Hall of Fame Game - Houston Texans vs Chicago Bears

August 8 – Pre-season begins

August 27 – Deadline for 53-man rosters

September 1 – Final day of pre-season

September 5 – Season opener – Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs

November 5 – Trade deadline

January 5 – Week 18 of regular-season

January 11 – Playoffs begin

February 9 – Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana

“They flagged me for hitting my head, but [I] felt good enough to go back into the game,” he said.

No official diagnosis has come out about Allen’s health from the play, but sports medicine expert Dr. Jesse Morse shared that he thinks Allen was concussed.

“Josh Allen appears to have SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, they gave him SMELLING SALTS then allowed him to return to the game,” he wrote on X.

“This should be a HUGE PENALTY and VERY risky for Josh Allen’s health.

“He could have suffered another concussion which could have caused second impact syndrome, which can be deadly.”

Despite Allen returning to the game, the Bills still lost to the Texans 20-23 and fell to 3-2 on the season.

Chick-fil-A employee leaks winter menu weeks ahead release date – but fans swear chain keeps ‘pushing’ back the day

WINTER is coming to Chick-fil-A, but not without some controversy.

A Chick-fil-A employee has leaked details of the chain’s upcoming winter menu weeks before its official release, sparking excitement — and confusion — among fans.

The leaked menu, posted to Instagram, reveals the return of beloved seasonal items, but customers are noticing something strange: the release dates seem to keep getting delayed.

According to the leak, two fan favorites are making a return next month: the Peppermint Chip Milkshake and the Chicken Tortilla Soup.

Both items have become staples of Chick-fil-A’s winter offerings, with many customers eagerly anticipating their arrival as soon as the temperatures drop.

The Peppermint Chip Milkshake, made with the chain’s signature Icedream dessert and peppermint bark chips, is a sweet indulgence that’s been described as the perfect holiday treat.

The Chicken Tortilla Soup, a creamy, savory blend of chicken, beans, and vegetables, is also a seasonal must-have for many.

MENU MIXUP

But while the menu items are a hit, some fans are frustrated by what they perceive as shifting release dates.

The leak claims the Chicken Tortilla Soup will be available starting November 13, with the Peppermint Chip Milkshake following on November 18.

However, several longtime customers have pointed out that these items used to be available earlier in the year, with some even claiming they’ve seen the soup hit stores as early as October in previous years.

Fans took to social media to express their confusion.

“They keep pushing the soup back..or am I trippin?

“Cause I could’ve sworn one year it was released in October!”

Another chimed in, “I could’ve sworn last year it was like the first week of November.”

This isn’t the first time fans have raised concerns about changing release dates.

Chick-fil-A’s seasonal menu has a loyal following, and any slight change in timing can cause a stir among its dedicated customers.

CHICK FIL A WINTER MENU OFFERINGS LEAK

Here are the leaked release dates:

  • Chicken Tortilla Soup: November 13
  • Peppermint Chip Milkshake: November 18

Whether the chain is adjusting its calendar or whether the perceived delays are simply a result of excited anticipation, the conversation is heating up just in time for the winter season.

Despite the confusion, fans are still excited about the return of their favorite winter items.

The Peppermint Chip Milkshake and Chicken Tortilla Soup have become as much a part of the season as holiday shopping and cozy sweaters.

As long as the treats make it to stores next month, many customers are likely to forgive the timing discrepancies.

For now, fans will just have to wait and see if the leak holds true—and whether Chick-fil-A will address the claims of delayed releases.

Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs’ ‘frosty’ interaction spotted by NFL fans after Bills-Texans with ex-pals ‘feud’ escalating

NFL fans noticed Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs’ awkward hug after the Week 5 game between the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans.

The four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DiggsTexans defeated his former team Bills 23-20 on Sunday.

Allen and Diggs were teammates in Buffalo for four seasons before the latter was traded to the Texans in the offseason[/caption]

There were rumors of tension between Diggs and the two-time Pro Bowler Allen during their days as Bills teammates during the 2023 season.

Buffalo traded Diggs to the Texans after he spent four seasons with the Bills.

So after Sunday’s contest, Allen searched the field for Diggs and embraced his ex-teammate.

The clip of the sequence went viral but for seemingly the wrong reasons.

After the hug, Diggs stared at Allen, who was looking elsewhere.

The pair also didn’t have too much to say to one another while embracing.

Social media users believe that the “feud” has continued between Allen and Diggs after spotting the latter’s side-eye stare.

“The side eyeiest side eye of all time,” one commented.

“Diabolical side eye,” another wrote.

“Diggs wanted to say better not look my way,” a third added.

“How you look at a kid you can’t stand at school as you both walk down the hallway,” a fourth said.

Allen put together one of his worst games as an NFL signal-caller, completing just 30 percent of his passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.

Diggs, meanwhile, recorded six receptions for 82 yards.

His new quarterback, C.J. Stroud, completed 28 of 38 passes for 331 yards along with one touchdown and one interception.

The Bills have a two-game losing streak after starting the season 3-0.

The first-place squad will travel to play versus the New York Jets on Monday Night Football next week.

As for the Texans, they have a 4-1 record and sit atop the AFC South.

They will go up against the 1-4 New England Patriots next Sunday.

The Patriots have lost four straight after winning its Week 1 matchup over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Miami Dolphins needs to make move and target $245m NFL rival’s quarterback after Tua Tagovailoa retirement decision

THE Miami Dolphins have a quarterback problem, and the solution may be sitting on another team’s bench.

Tua Tagovailoa has been sidelined since week two with a concussion, and the Dolphins’ attempts at quarterback without him have been less than ideal.

Getty
The Miami Dolphins are still without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa[/caption]
Getty
The Dolphins could trade for Russell Wilson from the Pittsburgh Steelers[/caption]

Originally, the Dolphins tried Skylar Thompson, but he only managed 187 yards in two games, and he didn’t manage a single touchdown.

Tim Boyle also got a shot at quarterback, but he threw just 13 passes and only managed 79 passing yards before the team moved on.

The Dolphins’ current option is five-year veteran Tyler Huntley, who made a Pro Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens.

Huntley is known for being a good running quarterback, but he has struggled as a passer for the team.

In two games he has thrown for just 290 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.

He does have 47 yards and a touchdown as a rusher, but it isn’t making up for his lack of production through the air.

Tua will be eligible to return from Injured Reserve when the Dolphins come off their bye in Week 7, but there is no word on whether or not he will actually play.

He suffered his third concussion since 2022 this year, and all three were devastating injuries.

The second of his concussions caused him to miss the remainder of the season in 2022 and the most recent has him out for five weeks at a minimum.

There is no guarantee that Tua even comes back to the team, and the Dolphins need to be prepared for that possibility.

Even if Tua does return to the team later in the year, Miami needs competent quarterback play to keep them in contention for a playoff spot.

Who could give them that kind of production? Current Pittsburgh Steelers backup Russell Wilson.

Wilson was meant to enter this year as the Steelers’ starting quarterback, but a preseason injury has seen him sidelined for the first five games of the season.

While players usually don’t lose a starting job due to injury, it is going to be hard for the Steelers to bench Justin Fields, who has been balling out ever since getting the starting job.

Wilson is likely going to remain on the Steelers bench, but they could swing a trade with the Dolphins to gain some draft capital and give Miami a chance to compete.

NFL important dates

August 1 - Hall of Fame Game - Houston Texans vs Chicago Bears

August 8 – Pre-season begins

August 27 – Deadline for 53-man rosters

September 1 – Final day of pre-season

September 5 – Season opener – Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs

November 5 – Trade deadline

January 5 – Week 18 of regular-season

January 11 – Playoffs begin

February 9 – Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana

While Wilson’s last two years of football were less than ideal, he still put up solid numbers.

In 2023 he passed for 3,070 yards with 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 15 games.

Wilson is also proven to be a good competitor, making eight Pro Bowls in his 12 NFL seasons.

In his career he has over 43,000 passing yards with 334 touchdowns and only 106 interceptions.

Trading for Wilson would be a no-brainer for the Dolphins if they want to save their season with Tua out.

Tiny houses have gained significant popularity recently, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional homes.

Among the various options available on Amazon, the Emonia two-bedroom foldable tiny home stands out as a fantastic deal at just $17,999.

Each state has its own rules about tiny homes, but, generally, they are not subject to the same taxes as regular homes.

However, Alaska, Iowa, Louisiana, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin, and West Virginia have made tiny homes illegal as permanent dwellings.

Customers have praised the spacious layout and high-quality materials, making this tiny home a smart investment for those seeking a minimalist lifestyle.
