Creepy robots begin taking human jobs at world’s biggest electric car maker… and they could fill MILLIONS of vacancies

EERIE robot workers are beginning to takeover at the world’s biggest electric car maker.

Chinese motors giant BYD Auto have implemented a creepy 500-strong robot workforce with fears growing that the programmed bots could soon fill up millions of vacant job roles.

Fascinating footage shows a number of humanoid robots dubbed “Walker S1” parading around factories in China.

The army of bots can be seen inspecting BYD cars as they are being built and carrying heavy boxes around the giant warehouses – with no humans in sight.

Chinese industrial giant UBTech has designed the robots to specialise in manual labour so they can be used in the workplace.

UBTech has already received over 500 orders for the humanoids, reports Interesting Engineering.

With the major robot roll-out set to fix China’s manufacturing labour shortage.

Car-making companies in the Far East are projected to face a worrying shortage of around 30 million workers by 2025, according to a 2017 report by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

Meaning many feel the introduction of robots will be a quick fix to the ever-growing problem as they can be programmed to work in the huge warehouses.

Many global companies are also looking to streamline their operations by introducing a robotic workforce.

They hope to see a more efficient workday which is affected much less by human error, injuries and even days off.

UBTech – China’s leading robot manufacturers – are said to be looking to reduce human labour in factories to just 10 per cent in the future.

UBTech’s chief brand officer, Tan Min, says this will allow humans to focus on the more difficult tasks such as planning, collaboration and tool management.

Inside the Walker S1 robots

The UBTech Walker S1 is the latest humanoid robot to be unveiled in recent years.

Designed to replace people in manual labour workplaces the bots stand at an impressive 5ft 6in and weigh a hefty 76kg.

Each one is designed to handle a number of tasks typically undertaken inside a factory.

This includes visual quality inspections, carrying heavy equipment, tightening screws and even assembling and sorting.

Prototype footage released by UBTech shows the robots carrying 16.3kg boxes on a treadmill.

Other eerie clips demonstrate how they can bend over and grab onto shipments before transporting them across buildings.

They are programmed to understand the intention behind various tasks and have the correct set up to carry them out efficiently.

Along with the 500 bots shipped to BYD, the Walker S1 tech has also been ordered by state-owned Dongfeng Motor, FAW-Volkswagen, and Geely.

UBTech is the first company in the world to launch mass-scale robot operations, say South China Morning Post.

They hope to have a successful run inside Chinese warehouses before taking the robot workforce global in a few years time.

Elon Musk is also vying to be the first to crack global robot workers through his creepy faceless Optimus bots.

The tech billionaire is due to unleash the humanoids into his Tesla factories next year before they’re made available to other companies in 2026.

Musk boasts that they can do almost anything including babysit children, walk a dog, mow lawns, get the groceries or be a friend.

In footage shared online, the faceless bot, dubbed an “autonomous assistant” or a “humanoid friend” by Tesla, can be seen picking up a parcel at the doorstep.

Before going on to water plants as a human family enjoys their time together.

It can then be seen joining in on the fun and playing games with a dad and his children before it goes on to help mum in the kitchen.

They have been labelled “personal R2-D2 [or] C3-PO’s”.

SPOT CHECK The 6 early signs of prostate cancer all men MUST know – after Sir Chris Hoy’s terminal diagnosis

PROSTATE cancer is one of the biggest killers of men in the UK, with one dying from the disease every 45 minutes.

And it’s thought that one in eight men will get prostate cancer at some point in their lifetime.

What prostate cancer looks like

Sir Chris Hoy, 48, recently revealed that he he has just four years to live after being diagnosed with the cancer.

The six-time Olympic gold medallist first announced in February that he was being “treated for cancer”.

Sir Chris made his diagnosis public this month, sharing that the cancer had spread from his prostate to his  bones – including his shoulder, pelvis, ribs, and spine.

Heartbreakingly, Sir Chris’ wife Sarra was told she had incurable and degenerative MS just weeks before his cancer news.

The prostate is walnut-sized gland that sits under the bladder and surrounds the urethra.

Its job is so help make semen and it grows bigger as you get older.

Prostate cancer can develop when cells in the prostate start to grow in an uncontrolled way.

More than 52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year on average – making it the most common form of cancer in men – and 12,000 Brits die from the disease.

Despite being the third deadliest form of cancer, prostate can be beaten if it’s caught early.

In most cases, prostate cancer doesn’t have symptoms in the early stages.

But some men are more at risk of the disease, including those over the age 50 and people with a family history of cancer.

You can find your chance of developing the disease using Prostate Cancer UK’s risk checker here.

Symptoms only usually emerge when the growth is big enough to put pressure on the urethra – the tube you pee through – according to NHS.

Common early symptoms of prostate cancer

Prostate cancer that’s contained inside the prostate doesn’t usually cause any symptoms, which is why it’s important to know about your risk of developing the disease.

But some men might have start experiencing urinary problems that start off mild and and develop over many years.

They may be a sign of a benign prostate problem, rather than prostate cancer but it’s worth getting them checked out.

According to the NHS, the six most common early signs of prostate cancer include:

  1. Needing to urinate more often, especially at night
  2. Needing to rush to the toilet
  3. Difficulty in starting to pee
  4. Weak flow
  5. Straining and taking a long time while peeing
  6. Feeling that your bladder hasn’t emptied fully

If prostate cancer spreads to other parts of the body or breaks away from the prostate , it can cause other symptoms.

According to Prostate Cancer UK, these include:

  • Back pain, hip pain or pelvis pain
  • Problems getting or keeping an erection
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Unexplained weight loss

The cancer mainly affects men over 50, and your risk increases with age.

If you suspect you might have prostate cancer, speak to your GP.

Signs of prostate cancer to know

It comes after NHS figures showed that cancer diagnoses hit an all-time high in 2022, with prostate cancer being the most common type.

Ex Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, 72, has been living with an aggressive form of prostate cancer since 2021 and recently shared an update on his treatment.

It was also revealed in November last year that Brookside star Dean Sullivan had passed away, after being diagnosed with the condition in 2018.

The Jimmy Corkhill actor’s agent announced that the 68-year-old actor had died peacefully following a short illness.

The soap opera icon revealed he did not struggle with many symptoms usually associated with prostate cancer.

But he did notice a reduced flow and decided to get checked after listening to his gut.

The first medical professional Dean saw told to monitor it, but a second doctor gave him a 30-second examination, which revealed his prostate was enlarged.

Sir Chris's terminal diagnosis

Sir Chris first announced in February he was being “treated for cancer” and claimed it was going well – though knew in reality it was just “management”.

The star went to the doctor in late September last year after feeling a strain in his shoulder.

He described how his world “fell apart in one sentence”.

Speaking of the appointment, he told the Sunday Times he thought: “I’m just getting a bit old for lifting heavy weights”.

Referred by his physiotherapist for a scan, he went to hospital alone, expecting to be told to lay off upper-body work in the gym for a few weeks.

“I’m really sorry,” the doctor told him. “There’s a tumour in your shoulder.”

A second scan discovered primary cancer in his prostate.

The cancer has metastasised to Sir Chris’s bones – including his shoulder, pelvis, ribs, and spine – meaning his diagnosis is terminal.

Read more on the Olympic legend’s health battle here.

Further tests uncovered the cancer.

Dean urged people to push for the same level of investigation if they feel something is wrong.

“Sometimes people think they’re bothering the doctor unnecessarily but we shouldn’t be embarrassed to go back,” he told Prostate Cancer UK.

“If I’d have listened to the first doctor, it might have been a different story so always trust your gut.

“Eleven times out of 10, you’re right; we’ve still got that fight or flight instinct.”

Dean was confident his early diagnosis helped lead to successful treatment and warned others to get checked as soon as they notice any changes.

Treatment usually involves active surveillance, surgery or radiotherapy.

More than 95 per cent of people survive a year following diagnosis, and 85 per cent survive their cancer for five years or more.

The outlook depends on when it was caught. The earlier, the better.

Scientists recently claimed “breakthrough” blood test was able to diagnose men with prostate cancer with 90 per cent accuracy in 15 minutes or less.

However, it was nothing to do with MVG’s efforts at the oche with the Dutchman playing some superb darts himself.

In fact, Van Gerwen‘s 112.19 average is the highest losing average in the history of the PDC European Tour.

The pair traded 11 maximums between them and put on a show for the fans in Prague.

Although some fans watching on seemed sickened by the incredible display of darts, scratching their heads at how MVG could put in such a solid performance and still get smashed.

Taking to social media, one wrote: “Silly darts and to be quite honest it makes me feel sick to the stomach.”

While another added: “Getting pumped 6-1 with a 112 average is criminal.”

A third posted: “Probably the best Euro Tour game of the year. Unreal standard from both. 112 average to lose 6-1 is some effort.”

And a fourth asked: “Can someone explain how MVG lost 6-1 with a 112 average?”.

Even MVG and Littler were aware of just how insane their match was with the pair sharing a lighthearted snap on social media of The Green Machine strangling the teen sensation.

Van Gerwen posted the snap alongside the caption: “This is not gonna happen again. Fantastic game by @LukeTheNuke180 what a talent. All the best.”

While Littler reacted to the clash in his post-match interview.

He said: “The first leg was very slow, Michael obviously won that leg. But after it I just switched the gears and I’ve done another 110-plus average.

“I had to pick my shots everything I could because I know Michael was right behind me.

“If I had finished it he would have punished me. I think that’s the most (180s) I’ve ever been involved with. People can obviously check my past games. I think that was the most.”

Littler’s efforts in the Czech Darts Open saw him string together three consecutive 110 averages.

However, after reaching the semi-final he was unable to go all the way – ultimately losing to Luke Humphries in his final-four matchup.

The Nuke lost 7-4 in the semi-final, before Humphries stormed his way to his TENTH title in just over a year with a 8-1 trashing of Kim Huybrechts in the final.

Rarely-seen couple Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara pose on red carpet at Academy Gala after ‘secretly getting married’

JOAQUIN Phoenix and Rooney Mara posed for snaps at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles last night after ‘secretly getting married’.

Rarely-seen couple Joaquin, 49, and Rooney, 39, put on a loved-up display at the fourth annual ceremony – with the Joker star even fixing his fiancée’s dress in front of photographers.

It comes after the actor sparked marriage speculation by calling Rooney his “wife”[/caption]

The actress looked stunning in a sheer, cream gown with floral embellishments that flashed her underwear.

She elevated her height with coordinating heels and wore her brunette locks in a tight bun – wearing a band on her ring finger.

She laughed as Joaquin went down on one knee to ensure her dress was displayed just right for the cameras

Joaquin, meanwhile, put on a dapper display in a black tuxedo.

It comes just weeks after he sparked marriage speculation when he referred to Rooney as his “wife” on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast.

While discussing how he crafted his 2020 Oscars speech, the Napoleon lead revealed that the inspiration for his moving words came during a conversation with “his mum and his wife”.

The pair got engaged in July 2019 after three years of dating.

That same year, the To Die For actor opened up about their relationship to Vanity Fair.

“She’s the only girl I ever looked up on the internet,” he admitted at the time.

“We were just friends, email friends. I’d never done that. Never looked up a girl online.”

The couple initially met while working on the film Her in 2013.

However, the pair started dating after they reunited on the set of the Mary Magdalene film in 2016.

The two made their red carpet debut at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

THEIR CHILDREN

The couple share their firstborn son River, whom they welcomed in September 2020.

They named their child after Joaquin’s late brother, River Phoenix, who died at age 23 in October 1993.

The Stand By Me star died of a drug overdose at the notorious Viper Room, a Los Angeles nightclub previously owned by Johnny Depp.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star revealed her second pregnancy earlier this year at the 74th Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany.

She has since given birth, in June.

In February 2020, Joaquin paid tribute to his late sibling when he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Todd Philips’ Joker.

“I’ve been a scoundrel in my life. I’ve been selfish, I’ve been cruel at times, hard to work with,” he said towards the end of his lengthy speech.

“I’m grateful, so many of you in this room have given me a second chance and I think that’s when we’re at our best, when we support each other, not when we cancel each other out for past mistakes, but when we help each other to grow, when we educate each other, when we guide each other toward redemption. That is the best of humanity.”

“I just want to… when he was 17, my brother wrote this lyric. He said, ‘Run to the rescue with love and peace will follow,'” Joaquin shared.

In 2020, director Viktor Kossakovsky announced the baby news while promoting his film Gunda at the Zurich Film Festival.

During an interview, Viktor explained the star’s absence at the festival.

“He just got a baby, by the way, his name was… a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote it now,” he shared.

Joaquin served as executive producer on the animal documentary.

What is the I love your daughter TikTok trend?

This viral craze has used a sound from a short film by the Gilmore Girls actor Sean Gunn.

Sean appeared in a short film titled A Film by Kirk.

A scene from the two-minute-long film has provided the sound used by several men on TikTok.

“I love you daughter,” Sean Gunn’s character said in the film.

“Nothing, only this,” Sean’s character said before he broke out into contemporary dance.

How did this trend start?

A TikToker (@clozvr) discovered this obscure clip and circled it online in September 2024.

These videos start with the TikTokers lipsyncing along with Sean Gunn’s lines from the short film.
