Tottenham fans protest ‘Levy out’ with black balloons as Spurs chairman akwardly watches on during Liverpool loss
TOTTENHAM fans protested against chairman Daniel Levy ahead of their defeat to Liverpool.
Spurs were outclassed by the league leaders, who inflicted a 6-3 defeat to leave Ange Postecoglou‘s side in the bottom half at Christmas.
Tottenham fans protested Daniel Levy ahead of the defeat to Liverpool[/caption] A small group of fans gathered outside of the ground[/caption] Levy Out balloons were supposed to be released during the match[/caption] The chairman watched on as his side were thrashed 6-3[/caption]The Tottenham boss has copped his fair share of flack this season, and he confronted the angry travelling support after an insipid defeat to Bournemouth.
But ahead of the Liverpool match a small group of supporters marched against Levy.
Banners were held up calling for the long-term club chief to leave his post, with supporters carrying black balloons bearing the words: “L£VI OUT”.
One banner read: “I don’t care about Levy and he don’t care about me.”
While another took a broader aim at the owners, saying: “To dare is too dear. ENIC out.”
Organisers planned to release the black balloons onto the pitch in the 24th minute, but few reached the grass.
Tottenham fans have put up with soaring prices since the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, yet results on the pitch have gone backwards.
They sit 11th going into Christmas having lost eight of their 17 Premier League games.

Their saving grace this season is their cup form, having progressed to the Carabao Cup semi-final this week following a win over Manchester United.
But Spurs have not qualified for the Champions League since 2022 and there has been little return on the more than £1billion spent on transfers since the club last won a trophy in 2008.
Exact location in your home to put your thermostat to avoid unnecessary heating bills
ENERGY experts have revealed the best place to put your thermostat if you want your heating to work most effectively this winter.
With money tight for many of us, it could really matter where you place the dial which monitors your home’s temperature.
The placement of your thermostat can affect bills[/caption]Ben Gallizzi, energy expert at Uswitch.com, said the placement of your thermostat is important because it determines how effectively your heating works, and when it turns itself on and off.
If you have it in the wrong place, you may find your heating comes on when you don’t need it to, wasting energy and money.
“The best place for it is in the room that you use the most, as this is where you want to have the greatest control over the temperature,” he explained.
This is likely to be your main living room, as it probably has the most stable temperature, rather than the kitchen where cooking can heat a room for a brief period.
“Try to avoid placing the thermostat in places that may distort the readings, such as close to a radiator or oven, or in direct sunlight,” Gallizzi advised.
He also said you should avoid putting a thermostat in your hallway, as the temperature can be skewed every time the front door opens.
“This can mean the heating turns on because the hallway is cold, even though the rest of the house is already warm,” he pointed out.
Another thing to think about is the airflow around the thermostat, to ensure that it gets an up-to-date reading of the current room temperature.
And by turning your thermostat down by just one degree, you can reduce your energy bill by up to 10%.
The Energy Saving Trust recommends heating your home to between 18 to 21 degrees during winter.
If you are worried about paying your energy bills this winter, you should contact your energy supplier, which can offer advice and support – see what help is available below.
What should I do if I can’t move my thermostat?
Make sure to double-check if your thermostat is permanently wired into the wall.
Many non-smart thermostats are battery-operated and in this case, they are just screwed into place, so they can be easily moved.
It may be worth considering upgrading to a wireless thermostat as it will give you more control over your heating.
What energy bill help is available?
There's a number of different ways to get help paying your energy bills if you're struggling to get by.
If you fall into debt, you can always approach your supplier to see if they can put you on a repayment plan before putting you on a prepayment meter.
This involves paying off what you owe in instalments over a set period.
If your supplier offers you a repayment plan you don’t think you can afford, speak to them again to see if you can negotiate a better deal.
Several energy firms have schemes available to customers struggling to cover their bills.
But eligibility criteria vary depending on the supplier and the amount you can get depends on your financial circumstances.
For example, British Gas or Scottish Gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills can get grants worth up to £2,000.
British Gas also offers help via its British Gas Energy Trust and Individuals Family Fund.
You don’t need to be a British Gas customer to apply for the second fund.
EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy and Scottish Power all offer grants to struggling customers too.
Thousands of vulnerable households are missing out on extra help and protections by not signing up to the Priority Services Register (PSR).
The service helps support vulnerable households, such as those who are elderly or ill.
Some of the perks include being given advance warning of blackouts, free gas safety checks and extra support if you’re struggling.
Get in touch with your energy firm to see if you can apply.
The cost of a new smart thermostat can range from £120 to £220, according to Checkatrade.
But this doesn’t factor in the thermostat’s installation cost, which is usually around £30 to £80 depending on how long it takes and how complicated it is.
What else can I do to keep energy costs down?
There are also other ways of saving money, such as moving to a fixed energy tariff.
“There is a good range of fixed deals on the market right now which could save the average household around £130 per year,” Gallizzi said.
It is also worth thinking about when you actually need the house to be warm – for example when you are getting up in the morning.
In this case, it would be better to set the heating to come on an hour or two before you get up and then go off before you leave the house for the day, so the building is at its warmest while you are at home.
You should also make sure you turn off the radiators in the rooms you’re not using to cut costs.
There are other ways of staying warm without using your heating.
Layering up, using blankets or buying a thick winter duvet will all help keep the chill out.
Consider buying an electric blanket, they are another great way to keep warm and most cost around 3p an hour to run.
Or hot water bottles are always great for a cost-free way of keeping warm and they are perfect for snuggling up in bed.
Make sure you buy a new one as they can perish with use, and never fill with boiling water.
You should also check whether you qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment, which is paid to older people and people receiving certain benefits.
Some energy companies are even giving people free heating on Christmas Day.
Three Emmerdale favourites will be left fighting for their lives in ‘heart-stopping’ new storyline
EMMERDALE bosses are to stage a massive stunt which will see three soap favourites trapped in a car after it plunges into a frozen lake.
In horrifying scenes filmed last week, Leyla Harding, played by Roxy Shahidi, is one of three women who will be seen fighting for their life as the vehicle sinks.
Leyla Harding, played by Roxy Shahidi, will be seen fighting for her life on the soap[/caption]And sources told how ITV bosses pulled out all the stops to make the storyline as dramatic as possible.
Measures included dispatching a crew to cover an entire field with thick candle-wax, replicating the ice on the surface of a lake.
One soap insider said: “The bosses want viewers to have their hearts in their mouths when they see the car career off the road and into the water.
“It’s a nightmare scenario and everything was done to make sure this was a scene with real impact. Hours were spent creating a layer of ice, then the actors spent hours out on the frozen field in the pitch black trying to do the storyline justice.
“It will be a real heartstopper moment when it airs in January.”
The Sun on Sunday revealed earlier this year that Emmerdale favourite Roxy, 41, was being killed off after 16 years on the ITV soap.
Until now, the explosive circumstances of her exit had been kept secret.
Our revelation comes after Emmerdale bosses announced earlier this month that January will see a special episode of the soap, following Leyla’s son Jacob Gallagher on shift in a busy A&E ward.
They went on to add that Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) will be “pushed to his limits” as he deals with crises involving Emmerdale villagers.
And the news has sparked fan speculation that Jacob will be tasked with saving his mother as she fights for life.
Actress Roxy, who filmed her first scenes in Emmerdale in 2008, is the third star confirmed to leave the soap this year as bosses cut their cast down.
Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda Walker, is also due to leave the Dales.
And viewers will have to wait to learn if the two characters trapped in the sinking car with Leyla survive the accident or not.
TOOTH HURTS, JOEL
WHAT is better than Joel Dommett?
Two Joel Dommetts, of course.
Joel with Turkey Crown on the Christmas special[/caption]At least that is what the creative minds at The Masked Singer think.
Joel will unwrap the huge surprise on the ITV show’s Christmas special, on Boxing Day at 7.30pm.
Hidden inside Giant Joel is a celebrity, but viewers will have to wait until series six kicks off on January 4 to find out who it is.
Joel said: “When I first saw Giant Joel, I thought, ‘Is my nose really that shape?’ Then everyone confirmed it is and said ‘your teeth are that big’!
“My wife has said that I’m not allowed to keep it because we don’t have space, so I have told her that we need to buy a marginally bigger house.
“Maybe we can turn it upside down and turn it into a really cool laundry bin or something.”
I reckon Joel’s lovely wife Hannah Cooper-Dommett would rather bin it . . .
FANS of The Split will be wondering if the legal drama is set for a return after next week’s two-part special drops.
They already feared it was over when the third and final series ended in 2022.
But then the BBC announced the Barcelona spin-off, which will air on December 29 and 30, and appear on iPlayer too.
Writer Abi Morgan said of the series, starring Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan: “I’d love to write for it again. I just want to make sure the story’s there. I hope it will go forward in some way.”
Abi should set up a crowdfunding site – I’m sure devotees would chip in to bankroll a return.
MARTIN’S MASTER PLAN
FINANCIAL whizz Martin Lewis reckons he is ready for battle on Taskmaster’s annual New Year Treat.
The Money Saving Expert enlisted help ahead of filming the Channel 4 show, hosted by comic Greg Davies and Alex Horne.
Martin Lewis reckons he is ready for battle on Taskmaster’s annual New Year Treat[/caption]Martin said: “I probably shouldn’t admit this but I have an amazing research team on Money Saving Expert with about seven or eight seriously die-hard Taskmaster fans.
“I said to them, ‘Can you write me a briefing?’, because I’m the boss! I mean, I’m not some kind of tyrant, they loved doing it.
“So they made me this amazing Taskmaster briefing pack, which is like a lot of the research packs I normally work with, which included all this information on the way it works and tips on how to do it.”
Pretty sure that sucks the joy out of bumbling your way through Taskmaster’s challenges while viewers are all laughing at home.
Keira Knightley and her rocker husband’s surprise role in kids’ Christmas nativity revealed
MY school nativity plays were theatrical car crashes, with the wise men forgetting their lines and Mary dropping baby Jesus.
But when your parents are Keira Knightley and Klaxons rocker James Righton, the production turns out to be far more special.
Mums and dads who sent their kids to the same posh London school as the showbiz couple told me that James had pulled out all the stops for this year’s nativity after taking a starring role in last year’s carol concert.
They added: “James is absolutely brilliant and was really involved with the nativity this year.
“Last year, he got up on stage and performed during the service, which was amazing. None of us could quite believe it, and Keira was in the audience cheering him on.
“This year, he has sprinkled some magic over the nativity, but let the kids take centre stage. It was magical and so special to see.”
Keira has been on the promotional trail for her new hit Netflix series Black Doves, which is phenomenal if you haven’t yet seen it.
‘Banter is important’
But now she’s finished for Christmas and has opened up about her festive plans during a chat with Nick Grimshaw on BBC 6 Music.
“I am hibernating and drinking nice wine and doing all the festive things,” Keira said. “We did some wreath-making the other day.
“I got two children to make wreaths and they’re not that bad.
“I’m not cooking — my husband cooks and he is very good.
“He is a little bit OCD, so as long as that stays in the kitchen, the marriage survives. It means Christmas dinner will be very good.”
Opening up about her role in her gripping spy thriller, Keira went on to reveal she had formed a close friendship with co-star Ben Whishaw.
She added: “He is one of the nicest men in the world.
“We just laughed. Which is all you can do when you’re a spy.
“We met just before filming and, luckily, we really got on.
“The centre of the story is a platonic relationship between me and Ben. It’s about two best mates.
“One happens to be a spy and the other is an assassin. So the banter between them is so important and we really got on.”
Vin the mood to party
NOT since Wimbledon won the FA Cup in 1988 has Vinnie Jones celebrated this wildly.
The former football hardman’s stage debut in Only Fools And Horses: The Musical has gone down a storm with fans who thought he was excellent – or “bonnet de douche”, as Del Boy would say.
And Vinnie lapped up the cheers from the audience inside the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith.
The Lock, Stock legend plays Peckham gangster Danny Driscoll – one half of the show’s notorious Driscoll brothers.
And there was more than a nod to his breakthrough Brit flick role, namely him repeatedly smashing in some poor sod’s head with the Trotter van door and uttering his famous catchphrase: “It’s been emotional.”
He also has a scrap with Del Boy (Sam Lupton), and even a dust-up with Uncle Albert, brilliantly portrayed by co-writer Paul Whitehouse.
With Tom Major as Rodney, Vinnie’s run at Hammersmith goes on until January 5 before the show heads out on tour.
You’d be a plonker to miss it.
Jack’s booze blues
JACK WHITEHALL has admitted his co-star dad Michael is guilty of drinking away the profits during their recent comedy tour.
Revealing his old man’s expensive tastes, Jack said: “He just needs four bottles of champagne and a defibrillator, just in case.
Jack Whitehall says his co-star dad Michael is guilty of drinking away the profits during their recent comedy tour[/caption]“He genuinely wants four bottles in the dressing room for every show.
“And he says he wants the champagne in case he has to entertain guests – but he doesn’t have any friends.
“He didn’t invite anyone to the shows. He just wanted to get p***ed himself. We didn’t sell a lot of tickets. We ended up losing money as we were just paying to prop up my dad’s drinking habits.”
All to play for, Tom
TOM GRENNAN was beaten to the Christmas No1 spot by WHAM!’s Last Christmas on Friday, but he could still top the charts before the year is out.
His song It Can’t Be Christmas hit No4 last week, but has taken a narrow early lead in this week’s singles rundown.
It is now 500 sales ahead of George Michael’s timeless classic, after vinyl versions of Tom’s tune came out on Friday.
It’s all to play for.
Feast your pies on Jason

The ex-Fifth Harmony star dropped her new album C,XOXO in the summer and belted out hits from the record, including old favourites such as Havana.
Watching clips of Camila’s energetic set reminded me of her stellar moment on stage at Glastonbury in June, when she rode in on a BMX bike – repeating a similar stunt here – and later rubbed ice lollies all over herself.
She knows how to put on a show.

IT sounds like Paul Chuckle is just as much of a laugh off screen as he is on it, because he’s revealed he’s a secret party animal.
The comic, who is best known for starring in ChuckleVision with late brother Barry, has revealed he loves nothing more than hitting a nightclub, at the age of 77.
Paul Chuckle has revealed he’s a secret party animal[/caption]He is currently in panto in Nottingham, playing Starkey in Peter Pan, and says he hopes to enjoy some wild nights in the city.
During a TikTok live chat, Paul – who occasionally DJs at clubs, too – said: “I will be out clubbing again.
“I doubt I’ll be playing, but I’ll certainly be out clubbing.
“I just love clubbing. Don’t we all?”
I hope I have the same party spirit as him when I’m in my seventies, although given I get sleepy when I’m at a gig past 9.30pm, I’m not so sure.
It sounds like he is always up for taking things to the max, though, after a tough start in life.
Speaking about growing up in Rotherham, he said: “I had a great childhood. But it was on a council estate. We didn’t have any money.
‘Enjoying life’
“I had nothing until I was 23 years in the business – me and Barry – from the 1960s to 1986.
“Then we got our own series, The ChuckleHounds, followed by Chuckle- Vision and our life changed. I’ve never been a rich person. Comfortable, very comfortable, and I’m not complaining.
“It was a hard life up until 1986, and it’s not been so bad since.
“But I’m still here, still working, still out there and still enjoying life.”
Good on him.
Jedward’s festive Gem
YOU might think Christmas at Gemma Collins’ house would be over the top as it is.
But now she has invited Jedward to spend the big day with her, too.
Gemma Collins has invited Jedward to spend Christmas with her[/caption]The Irish twins, who have released a festive single called Lovemas, have become close pals with the reality star in recent years – so much so that they are planning to head to her Essex mansion on Wednesday.
In an exclusive catch-up, John told me: “Gemma has asked us to be with her for this Christmas. She’s already ordered cookies. We are always there in spirit with Gemma. She is such a vibe and such a great human – Gemma is literally our family.
“We’ve got so many memories together. I was upset when I lost my phone recently because I had so many pictures.”
But the pair also revealed that they have discovered an unlikely hobby with the glam former Towie star.
Edward added: “Me and Gemma are loving having a fire. We’ve been making a campfire in the back yard. Literally, we are experts now.”
I’ll take their word for it.
Let’s hope she has good insurance.
The two sunglasses mistakes people always make on holiday that could prove dangerous for your vision
THESE two sunglasses mistakes that people always make on holiday could prove dangerous for your vision, experts warn.
The sun is one of the biggest threats to your eyes and a lack of proper care could cause serious damage.
It’s particularly easy to burn your eyes when travelling because of their overexposure to UV light, Wanderlust reports.
Experts have warned holiday goers to take precautions to avoid symptoms such as redness, pain and even blurred vision.
These include not mistaking anti-glare lenses for sun protection.
Whilst polarised sunglasses are increasingly popular, they don’t necessarily provide higher levels of UV protection.
It’s advisable too to travel with eye drops such as TheraTears, to provide instant relief for dry, irritated eyes.
This is particularly useful when taking a long-haul flight, where the air lacks humidity because of the pressure-controlled cabin.
Sore eyes are often caused by a lack of moisture, exposure to sunlight, or disrupted sleep.
It’s also important to remember that UV exposure isn’t just limited to the beach, as sunlight reflecting off snow is just as dangerous, they added.
Snow blindness – red eyes, tearing, light sensitivity – tends to develop within 12 hours of sun exposure.
Though symptoms are usually temporary, experts warn it can cause long term damage so it’s vital to wear the right sunglasses.
One in four adults in the UK buy sunglasses based on style, according to a study by Specsavers.
Whilst 37 per cent aren’t aware that sunglasses have different levels of UV protection.
Experts have advised Brits to opt for wraparound glasses because they offer better coverage.
They added lenses should have the CE mark and have a value of UV 400 to ensure they provide full proof protection.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Maya first shared a snippet of her little black dress outfit as she zoomed in on her effortless looking makeup.
In another clip she posed in front of the camera as she continued getting ready in her hotel room. whilst showing off the figure hugging black dress.
Maya later shared clips from her night out with pals, as she attended The Sanctuary Eco Retreat in Rome.
The venue is described on its website as “a tranquil haven where ancient history and modern rhythms coexist, creating unforgettable nights filled with energy, connection, and the magic of music.”
Maya, who regularly fronts Love Island for ITV, will be heading to South Africa ready to start filming Love Island All Stars next month when it returns to screens.
The star is so committed to her presenting role that she’s now thought to be making Cape Town her home-away-from-home.
An insider exclusively told The Sun: “Maya puts everything she has into Love Island – it’s so important to her so she’s moving out to South Africa again this year.
“She’ll be there the whole four weeks All Stars is on and can’t wait.
“The place she’s staying is really luxe!”
Whilst she’s thought to be excited for the All Stars series, it’s rumoured that she could step away from the main show next year.
The model took over from Irish star Laura Whitmore in 2023 but is keen to leave ‘on a high’.
A source said: “Maya adores hosting Love Island and thinks it’s a great fit for now.
“But she’s keen to leave on a high and keep her career moving forward on the right tracks.
“She is incredibly ambitious and would like to keep focusing on primetime presenting opportunities. She also has hopes of working in America and doesn’t want to be tied down.”

MICHAEL OWEN’S bold Premier League top-four prediction resurfaced and has led to immense praise for the England legend.
Owen, 45, left football fans stunned in August when he claimed reigning Premier League champions Manchester City would finish FOURTH after winning a record four titles in a row.
https://twitter.com/themichaelowen/status/1870464444758958337The ex-Liverpool and Manchester United star even suggested that City could struggle to make the top four, especially if they endure a rough start to the campaign.
Owen told Casino Hawks last summer: “Arsenal and Manchester City will go in virtually everybody’s top-four predictions and I think Liverpool will probably be in there as well despite there being some questions over how well Arne Slot will fit in.
“I had a thought about Newcastle but Aston Villa are solid and look to be still improving.
“In terms of the order, my thought process is if City are not gonna win it, they could actually drop away a little bit.
“It’s almost like if City are not gonna be really in the race after 10 games then their priority could go elsewhere – I think there could be a big surprise this season.
“I’m going to go for Arsenal first, Liverpool second, Aston Villa third and Manchester City fourth.”
After Owen‘s prediction City experienced a shocking collapse that saw them dropping to seventh place in the table and losing a staggering nine out of their last 12 matches across all competitions.
And fans took to social media to resurface the legendary striker’s bold prediction, that would see Man City manager Pep Guardiola enduring his worst ever finish if it comes true.

Owen caught wind and tweeted: “Glad you noticed.”
And fans stormed Twitter to praise the pundit’s brave call at a time when many continued to back the Citizens for a fifth straight Premier League title before their unbelievable breakdown.
One fan tweeted: “He’s probably the only person in football that saw this coming.”
Another commented: “He got slated for this, but fair play. He saw their struggles before a lot of us.”
A third wrote: “The king is back.”
This fan said: “Best pundit in town.”
And that one stated: “You saw it coming bro.”
Huge blow for Bluey fans as star QUITS world’s most popular kids show – as future of the hit is revealed
BLUEY fans have been dealt a huge blow as a star on the world’s most popular kids show has quit.
The Australian animated series, which first launched in 2018, follows the titular character, a Blue Heeler puppy, and her family – Dad Bandit, Mum Chilli and younger sister Bingo.
Joe Brumm told fans he will turn his attention to the highly-anticipated movie, which is set to release in 2027[/caption]Bluey has gained worldwide attention and praise from critics for its depiction of a modern family and its constructive parenting messages.
It officially landed in the UK on CBeebies in 2021 and has been a household favourite ever since.
However, after Disney confirmed a feature movie is officially in the works, Bluey’s creator Joe Blumm has quit.
Addressing fans, he said: “I’m writing this to share some Bluey news – some good, some trifficult.
“Let’s start with the good – after some time spent away from the series, working on another project, an old idea resurfaced and before I knew it, I’d written a Bluey feature script that I really love. Fast forward through a tonne of contracting and we’re about to embark on making an animated Bluey movie!
“Now, for the trifficult. I always said I wouldn’t keep making the show if I thought I couldn’t make any new season as good as the last. This would have been the case for me with a potential season four, so I’ve decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series.
“In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, The Sign will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such.”
Joe reassured fans his departure from the television series to focus on the movie does not mean the end of the show.
Bluey’s feature film is currently in development, with Disney set to release the movie worldwide in 2027.
Since the beloved children’s TV show landed on screens in 2018, various episodes have been changed, censored, or banned for several reasons.
These include episodes showing or depicting farting, vomiting or pooing and discussions about vasectomies being changed for international viewers.
Previously the show’s creators revealed they were asked to change the character’s Australian accents, but they refused.
What is Bluey and why are kids obsessed with it?
BLUEY has become a fan-favourite series across the globe. Created and released on ABC in Australia, it also airs internationally on Disney+.
The series follows the Heelers, an adorable dog family living in Australia. Bluey takes the lead alongside her mum Chilli, dad Bandit and sister Bingo.
Bluey has become essential viewing for preschoolers and their parents.
Shown in 60 countries across the world, it was the most-streamed series in January and February and the second most viewed programme in the US in 2023.
It has even attracted a host of famous fans.
Hollywood actresses Natalie Portman and Eva Mendes have made cameos and Aussie stars Kylie and Dannii Minogue have voiced a spin-off audiobook.
On why the family show is so popular, Dannii has said: “There is life before Bluey, and life after. Once you know Bluey . . . you are hooked.
“It is fun for so many ages, as we can all relate to different members of Bluey’s family.”
Its success has also spawned a theme park in Australia, its own land at Alton Towers and stage show spin-offs.
Podcast couple Chris and Rosie Ramsey admitted being in tears at the end of the extra-long one-off episode.
