Born on May 6, 2002 in Maryland, Angel Reese is a popular player in the WNBA due to her stellar college history and professional league play.

The basketball star was drafted for the Chicago Sky in 2024, and was their seventh pick.

Since then Reese has been riding high in the WNBA, and in June 2024 was named Rookie of the Month.

Away from the court and she is also a popular social media star, and boasts 4.4M Instagram followers (as of October 2024).

Money talks

In October 2024, during an Instagram Live chat with her fans, Reese opened up about her WNBA salary.

She revealed she earns $74,000 a year for playing in the league.

She also talked about her rent and other expenses, plus her business endeavors which help fund her lifestyle.

Reese also admitted that her WNBA paycheck doesn’t “pay her bills.”

Addressing fans, the sports star said: “Hating pays them bills, baby.

“I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all.

“I don’t even think that pays one of my bills.

“Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at.

“Let me do the math real quick.

“I don’t even know my [WNBA] salary. $74,000?”

Salary doesn’t pay the rent

Reese also spoke candidly about how her salary doesn’t cover her $8,000 rent.

She told fans: “I living above my means!

“Babe, if y’all thought… That WNBA check don’t pay a thing. Did that even pay my car note?

“I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with that.

Reese’s other ventures

Reese earns the bulk of her cash from her lucrative sponsorship deals.

She also has her own hit podcast, called Unapologetically Angel, which brings in cash.

The show launched in September 2024 and has brought on multiple celebrity guests.

Another big deal for Reese was when she was named on Sports Illustrated’s list of the 50 Most Influential Athletes of 2024.

Wardley, 29, is now a bonafide player in the division following his desert demolition job of Clarke – who suffered a broken jaw and damaged cheekbone.

And the Ipswich Town superfan is now eyeing some of the big names in the division, including former long-reigning WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder.

When asked about potentially fighting The Bronze Bomber next, he told Box Nation: “I’d happily back myself against him.

“Because ultimately it’s a battle of the bombs and it’s who can land first.

When quizzed about facing either Wilder or Agit Kabayel next, he told The Boxing Show: “Honestly I don’t know.

“It’s not about I want to fight you, it’s about who‘s going to set me up to be in the best position.”

He continued: “Now is the right time to sit with the likes of Frank Warren and my team who have been and put people in world title positions.”

Wilder, 38, is at the tale end of his career having suffered four crushing defeats in his last five outings.

Retirement has been mooted for the once-devastating knockout artist, although his coach Malik Scott insists he wants to fight again.

Wardley knows he’s now a force to be reckoned with in the division but doesn’t want to get too big for his boots.

And he was brought back down to Earth after arriving home from Riyadh when he was forced to get rid of rotting food in his fridge.

In an exclusive interview with SunSport, he said: “Nothing changes for me.

“Even though my missus and mum keep trying to tell me that things have changed now.

“I went to the same old lunch spot with my old friends on Tuesday that I have been going to for years.

“I even had to run to the Co-Op at about 9pm for bread and milk and bits and bobs that I needed for the house because everything had gone off while I was away.

“Tuesday night was bin day so I was out in the garden wheeling them out, nothing changes.

“I don’t have a butler, I am the same old normal guy and I will be at the football at the weekend and crack on with the lads like I usually do.

“I will keep it like this for as long as humanly possible.”

HOSTESS have lifted the lid on the mysterious Twinkies flavor which had fans’ heads scratching for months.

The limited-edition gooey treat was launched exclusively in Walmart in July.

Lip-licking customers were invited to share their guesses as part of a national contest to bag a year’s supply of Twinkies cakes.

On Wednesday, Hostess put fans out of their misery by revealing the flavor.

“If you guessed Blue Raspberry, then you guessed right,” the company said in an Instagram post.

They added: “Avaliable only at Walmart. Try them today.”

However, shoppers should shake a leg if they want to sink their teeth into the treat, as they will only be available in stores until the end of this month.

GHOULISH GOODIES

It comes after Hostess announced several autumn and spooky season offerings for customers as summer comes to a close.

They include the Pumpkin Spice Twinkies, Iced Pumpkin Cupcakes, and Maple Glazed Donettes.

The Pumpkin Spice Twinkies features a creme in the middle with pumpkin spice flavoring and its classic “fluffy cake” exterior.

TWINKIES TRIVIA

Many people would be surprised to learn that Twinkies, a popular junk food snack, wasn’t always packed with so much sugar.

Its original recipe still wasn’t the healthiest, but it contained more natural ingredients and a surprising flavor compared to what’s often sold today.

The Twinkie was invented in April 1930 by the Continental Baking Company.

According to an article by News Nation, the Twinkie was not always just a tasty treat with vanilla-flavored cream inside.

At this point in time, the company’s signature product was a strawberry shortcake-style delight filled with fresh strawberries and cream.

In a 2010 article, Hostess explained that many of the company’s machines were going unused due to strawberries being a seasonal delicacy.

Manager James Dewar sought out a way to boost productivity at the Chicago-area plant by introducing bananas into the recipe, which were available year-round.

As the then-owner of the Hostess brand, he called them Twinkies, after seeing a billboard for Twinkle Toe Shoes.

The recipe lasted only for about a decade before war-time rationing caused Hostess to swap bananas for vanilla-flavored crème.

This helped Twinkies remain on the shelves with the banana-flavored variety periodically returning to production many times over the next 80 years.

The dairy-based recipe from the past now differs from the current ingredients, which contain preservatives, less dairy, and other additives probably as a way to increase shelf life.

The Hostess brand is no longer owned by the same people, but the crème-filled popular snack is still a staple.

The banana-flavored Twinkie is also permanently offered on the official Hostess site.

Creator James Dewar once said to the Chicago Tribune: “Twinkies were the best darn tootin’ idea I ever had. I still eat at least three of them a day.”

THE judge who sentenced Daniel Green to life in prison for the murder of Michael Jordan’s father has petitioned for his release.

James Jordan was murdered aged 56 in July 1993 as he slept in his car in Lumberton, North Carolina.

His body was subsequently found on August 3, in a swamp in McColl, South Carolina.

Green was arrested alongside Larry Demery after the duo made calls from Jordan Sr’s cell phone.

Demery’s subsequent testimony claimed that Green pulled the trigger.

Both men were sentenced to life in prison in 1996, but Demery was granted parole in 2020 – although this has since been revoked.

Meanwhile, Green has been seeking a retrial, having told WRAL News in 2018, “I’ve never killed anybody. I didn’t kill James Jordan. I’m innocent. I’m innocent of murder.”

As per ABC News, judge Gregory Weeks, who presided over the 1996 trial, petitioned for Green’s release in front of North Carolina’s parole commission on Tuesday.

At the time, prosecutors believed that the murder had been committed following a “robbery gone wrong”.

Weeks’ major concern is said to stem from the result of blood tests from Jordan Sr’s car.

He claimed in the petition that an analyst at the time did not disclose that blood tests from a substance found in the car came back inconclusive. These results could have drastically changed the outcome of the trial.

Weeks has not since commented publicly on the case.

But criminal justice advocate Rev. Thomas Jones, who has also been campaigning for Green’s release, told ABC News, “When I heard the judge speak on his behalf, I was weeping. I was flabbergasted.”

He then claimed that Weeks told the commission that he “had never been haunted in such a manner as he was haunted by this case”.

Green, now 49, claims that he had been attending a cookout with Demery, who then left to make a drug deal.

He then alleges that hours later when he returned, a “shaken” Demery asked him to help dispose of the body.

‘REGRET’

Green claims that, while he did agree to do so, he was not involved in the murder itself.

“Every day I live with the remorse and the pain and the suffering caused by my youthful decisions,” he wrote in a letter to the commission. “I regret the harm my actions inflicted on the Jordan family.”

The commission is expected to deliberate for a month before coming to their final decision.

Green has spoken to ABC from prison amid Weeks’ appearance in front of the commission.

He said that the fact that the man who “presided over my trial asked that I be paroled is significant.”

“It speaks volumes about this case, and I’m overwhelmingly grateful.”
