Nicola King makes a chilling discovery about Tom King and her son Carl in Emmerdale
NICOLA King is set to make a chilling discovery about her nephew-in-law Tom King after seeing the way he interacts with her stepson Carl Holliday.
Emmerdale villain Tom (James Chase) has been hiding his abusive ways and manipulation of his estranged wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) from the King family – but is the truth finally about to come out?
In scenes airing next week, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) will pick up on some tension between Carl (Charlie Joyce) and Tom.
Spoilers for Thursday’s episode (October 24) confirm that Nicola will become unsettled when she observes how Carl seems to be afraid of Tom, sensing something isn’t right.
But will this actually lead to the truth coming out?
As Emmerdale viewers know, Carl is terrified of Tom after he witnessed him smashing up his iPad and then bribed him not to tell anyone about it.
After being arrested for attacking Tom with an axe in self defence, Belle realised she needed to find evidence of his ongoing abuse.
Realising that there would likely be proof on the iPad, Belle tried to get her hands on it, but Tom got there first and stopped the police from finding it.
Tom found it in the hands of his young cousin Carl and took it back before smashing it to pieces to hide incriminating evidence about himself from Belle and the police.
But unbeknownst to Tom, Carl saw the whole thing and was left terrified.
When Tom noticed Carl was acting weird in the latest episode and believed he’d scared him after having a go at him recently.
Carl admitted this was the case, but didn’t reveal that he saw him break the iPad.
Later, Tom returned from the shops with a gift for his cousin in the form of a remote controlled toy car. Carl was amazed, but Tom had one condition before handing over the toy.
He asked Carl to promise that the issues with the iPad were over, making him repeat the words: “iPad? What iPad?”
Carl did what he was told and agreed to stay quiet, meaning the only witness to the smashing up of the iPad and where it could be now is not going to spill the beans… for now.
But if Nicola asks Carl about her suspicions, will he tell her the truth about what happened, or will he continue to protect Tom with his silence?

LAUREN Bolton is set to make a shock confession after Joel Deering’s funeral is confirmed in Coronation Street.
The teen was previously pursued and groomed by the corrupt lawyer, which led to devastating circumstances.
The police were circling in on Joel (Callum Lil) after his double life was revealed to the residents of Weatherfield.
He previously tried to cause a termination of Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) pregnancy with his child as he spiked her soup with hidden medication.
She gave birth prematurely to a son, Frankie, and Joel supposedly committed suicide in a panic.
After he failed to appear at his scheduled court hearing, a warrant was issued for his arrest before his body surfaced in a river.
A post mortem revealed that he was in fact dead before he entered the water, which launched a huge whodunnit storyline.
Viewers are set to watch his funeral in upcoming scenes as Lauren gets closer to Joel’s former fiancee Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown).
She gives Dee-Dee flowers as a gesture of gratitude for giving her and Frankie a home on Coronation Street.
Lauren’s social worker will look in at the flat to check in on her progress.
However, Dee-Dee will become panicked as she finds an old love note from Joel, just as she will start to make the tea.
She will be overcome with shock by what she sees in the cupboard and will flee the flat in a fit of devastation.
Elsewhere, Bobby (Jack Carroll) will visit number eight to ask why Max (Paddy Bever) is avoiding him.
Lauren will also be with her pal, as they will both insist that they are not ghosting him.
He will demand to know what they are hiding, but Lauren has other events on her mind.
She will need to try and distract herself from Joel’s funeral which is set to take place.

The pair have found themselves frequently at odds in the aftermath of August’s club crush at Peggy’s.
In scenes yet to air, Penny and love interest Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) are set to blackmail her police inspector dad Jack (Scott Maslen).
Before too long though, Jack heads to The Arches to demand answers.
It comes as Penny’s relationship with her father took another downward turn after a shocking betrayal.
Her stepsister Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) confessed to being responsible for the club crush.
This was something Penny, as manager at Peggy’s, had received blame for.
A furious Jack demanded Chelsea go to the police and admit what happened.
Along the way, however, she made a stop at the hospital to see a young man who’d been left in intensive care after the crush.
Upon learning the man was not only awake but recovering, Jack rethought everything.
He called a family meeting at No.27, asking those present to vote between Chelsea and Penny.
He reasoned Penny is unlikely to face prison time – and charges would be downgraded as there were no deaths.
Jack added: “As for Chelsea, if she confesses she might get granted bail but there’s aggravated circumstances.”
This included intentionally raising ticket numbers and having not handed herself in.
Ultimately, both women were tied with three votes each.
This meant Jack had the final say – and he opted for the “least worst option” by siding with Chelsea.
