High street discounter slashes price of Celebrations to just £2 and they’re the cheapest around
BARGAIN hunters have been going wild after a high street discounter dropped the price of Celebrations pouches to just £2.
The 325g pouches have caught the eye of savvy shoppers, with many pointing out that two pouches cost just £4 for a total of 650g.
That’s 100g more than the standard Celebrations tubs sold elsewhere for around £4.
One delighted shopper shared the find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, writing: “We all know the Christmas tubs are getting smaller every year, but Poundland at the moment are doing a pouch for £2.
“So, buying two bags for £4 will be 650g when the tubs are £4 plus everywhere for only 550g.”
Poundland’s deal has sparked excitement among chocoholics, with one shopper saying: “The pouches are fantastic.”
While another added: “These pouches are just too good.”
If you’re looking for alternatives, other retailers are offering similar deals.
Morrisons is selling two tubs of Celebrations for £7 – which works out at £3.50 per 550g tub.
Meanwhile, Tesco and Sainsbury’s have tubs priced at £4 each.
For those keen to stick to pouches, they’re priced at £2.50 at Sainsbury’s and £2.75 at Tesco, making Poundland’s £2 deal the standout bargain.
As Christmas approaches, prices on festive treats often drop as supermarkets compete for shoppers’ attention. Comparing the price can help you spot the best deals.
You can compare prices of certain products across the major supermarkets through trolley.co.uk.
Price Spy and Price Runner are worth a go to get a cross-section across a wider range of retailers too.
Prices are always subject to change and these prices are reflective of today, 16th December 2024.
It seems the Celebrations pouch is sold out online, but shoppers can still purchase them in stores.
It’s always worth calling your local store to find out if the product is in stock before making a trip.
You can find your local Poundland using the store locator tool.
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
- Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
What other savings can you get on chocolate?
If you’re looking for more savings on chocolate, three retailers have started selling Quality Street tins even bigger and cheaper.
Home Bargains is selling the 813g metal tin for just £7.99 – the equivalent of 98p per 100g of chocolate.
Asda and Sainsbury’s are selling them for a penny more at £8, much lower than the typical retail price of £12.
These are better value than the £6 600g plastic tubs sold at Tesco and Aldi, which are the equivalent of £1 per 100g.
To get the deal at Sainsbury’s, you will need to have a Nectar card – otherwise, the tin will set you back £12 instead.
You don’t need a loyalty card for the Home Bargains or Asda deals.
Another great deal can be found at Morrisons, where you can get two 600g Quality Street tubs for £7 – working out at just 58p per 100g.
To take advantage of the savings, you will need to be a Morrisons More card member.
Elsewhere, Lidl is currently offering Lidl Plus members the chance to pick up Quality Street, Roses or Heroes tubs for £4.49 each, or two for £8.
It’s always worth shopping around first to get the best deals ahead of Christmas.
Supermarkets will often battle it out to offer the best deals on household staples and Christmas favourites in the run-up to the big day.
With Christmas just around the corner, stocking up on festive chocolates could save you money – but keep an eye out for last-minute price drops as shops race to attract customers.
How to save money on chocolate
We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…
Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

A NOUGHTIES pop star is in ‘advanced talks’ to take part in the next series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, The Sun can exclusively reveal.
The most recent series of the SAS: Who Dares Wins celebrity spin-off was won by Love Island star Georgia Harrison and boxer Lani Daniels.
Georgia and Lani won the most recent series of Celeb SAS: Who Dares Wins[/caption]Filming for the 2025 series of Channel 4’s gruelling reality show started earlier this year.
And sources have told The Sun bosses are already in talks with famous faces for the 2026 celebrity series.
One person who looks likely to end up on the show is N-Dubz singer Fazer, real name Richard Rawson.
A telly insider told us: “Fazer is really keen to have a go on SAS: Who Dares Wins and has had some promising conversations so far.
“There’s no denying the popularity of N-Dubz and Tulisa‘s recent appearance on I’m a Celebrity proves that.
“Fazer joining the line-up would be good for both him and the show and it’s lookling like a done deal at the moment.”
Tulisa, Fazer and bandmate Dappy reunited in 2022 after a hiatus of more than a decade and hit the road a year later for a sell-out arena tour.
The tour was so popular with fans that N-Dubz had to later add seven extra dates after tickets sold out in an hour.
Fazer recently gave an update on Tulisa after she was rumoured to be struggling following her time in the I’m a Celeb jungle.
After she was voted out, he told the MailOnline: “She’s good.
“She’s happy, she’s happy to be home. She’s getting ready for Christmas, ordering her turkey and stuff so all good.”
In April this year Fazer became a dad for the fourth time when his girlfriend Ashley Havelin gave birth to a baby boy just months after they welcomed twins.
The musician is also dad to a nine-year-old daughter from a previous realtionship.
Was Harry’s absence from polo doc a call by Meghan or Netflix? It would’ve been less dull with him
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle’s new documentary on Polo landed on Netflix this week but are largely absent from the five-part series.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are executive producers of the show, which is shot primarily in Florida, but royal experts are hailing it as “dull” without them starring in it.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s documentary about polo has been released on Netflix[/caption] Despite being a polo player, Prince Harry only briefly appears in the five-part series[/caption]Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Ingrid Seward said: “I have seen the five-part series, and I think unless you’re knowledgeable a bit about polo, it would be very dull.
“There was a bit of him playing polo and a bit of him talking to people.
“And Meghan appeared and spoke to Cambiaso, this amazing Argentine player, in Spanish, and sort of did a lot of wiggling about that.
“And then he asked ‘does Harry speak Spanish?’ And Meghan said ‘yes’, and Harry said ‘no’, so I mean, quite honestly, it wasn’t exciting.”
Ingrid, who is the Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, added: “It’s dull, you know, I just can’t see that the Netflix viewing figures are going to be huge on that at all.”
Legendary Sun photographer Arthur Edwards chimed in: “It’s a shame because I think Harry’s great orator.
“When he worked here, when he worked for the royal family here, he was always interesting.
“And I say it was Netflix, probably, didn’t want him?”
Ingrid theorised: “Maybe Meghan had a bigger hand in it, because she obviously knows very little about it?”
Arthur joked: “Are you saying? Meghan tells Harry what to do?”
Ingrid laughed: “No, I’m not saying that, Arthur.”
The Sussexes make an appearance in episode five with the pair shown sharing a kiss on the podium.
The series by Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Productions is their fourth output with Netflix as part of their multi-million pound deal with the streaming giant.
It follows elite global players on and off the field, with the “sexy” sport billed in the trailer as showcasing “dirty, sweaty boys…riding”.

The documentary is the Sussexes’ first since Heart Of Invictus, which aired some 16 months ago.
It followed Live To Lead, about leaders who have dedicated themselves to social justice, in 2022, and before that, the couple’s controversial six-part Harry & Meghan documentary.

In Harry & Meghan, the duke and duchess shed light on their troubled life within the royal family, accusing Kensington Palace of lying to protect William, and Charles, now King, of lying at the Megxit summit.
While some fans enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at their lives, many took issue with their criticism of the royal family.
Another non-fiction series for Netflix, produced by Meghan, on “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship” is in production.

Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said fans care more about their royal drama than polo or their woke projects.
The royal expert explained: “How interested are people in polo?”
She added: “I just think the problem is that getting bums on seats in the wake of the Harry and Meghan docuseries, which was such compelling viewing because it was about them leaving.
“It was about their new lives.
“People wanted to tune in and watch that.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and have set up a new life for themselves in California with Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
Why did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step back as senior working royals?
PRINCE Harry has always wanted out of the Royal Family and the repercussions will be felt for years, an expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex has lived in California with his wife Meghan Markle since 2020 after they dramatically quit their jobs as working royals and moved across the pond.
Katie Nicholl, who is Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show that Megxit did not come as a surprise to her.
Speaking to The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, the commentator explained: “Anyone who knows Harry is aware he’s always wanted a way out of the Royal Family.
“He’s said multiple times on the record that he wished he’d never been born a prince.
“I think he really is living the life he wants to now. It’s very, very sad that it’s played out the way it has.”
In a statement made on the Sussexes’ Instagram account as they stepped back in 2020, the pair wrote: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.
“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”
Google ‘has proven we’re living in a parallel universe’ with new mindbendingly powerful chip Willow, physicists theorise
GOOGLE claims a breakthrough quantum chip called Willow may prove the existence of parallel universes.
The gob-smacking theory came as Willow took just five minutes to solve a computational problem so hard it would have taken today’s super-computers around 10 septillion years to crack.
Google’s quantum chip Willow[/caption] Hartmut Neven (L) and Anthony Megrant (R) examine a cryostat refrigerator[/caption] A logo of Google’s quantum chip Willow[/caption]The quantum chip’s performance has been labelled as “astonishing” by the leader and founder of Google’s Quantum AI team Hartmut Neven.
He said the ultra-high-speed result – that would have taken another super-computer more than the age of the universe to crack – “lends credence to the notion that quantum computation occurs in many parallel universes”.
Oxford University’s David Deutsch was also credited for proposing the theory that the breakthrough development of quantum computing would affirm the “many worlds interpretation” of quantum mechanics.
This includes the baffling – and terrifying – existence of a multiverse.
Unlike traditional computers that employ 0s and 1s, quantum computers rely on infinitely smaller bits called qubits, TechCrunch reports.
These process information at lightning speeds, therefore allowing them to potentially solve unbelievably complex problems.
The issues that Willow could solve would push beyond the capabilities of traditional computation machines.
Leader and founder Neven also claims that Willow is less error-prone than other quantum computers.
This is because experts have found a paradoxical way to reduce the likelihood of glitches.
More qubits are added in, which, traditionally, would increase the probability of errors.
Science writer Ethan Siegel has blasted Google’s claims on parallel universes, saying that the success of quantum computers doesn’t necessarily prove the existence of a multiverse.
In his essay for Big Think, Siegel wrote: “You can have quantum mechanics work just fine, both physically and mathematically, without introducing even one parallel universe.”
Despite this, Siegel did say he was impressed by Google’s unbelievable technological achievement, which he said is “a truly excellent step forward in the world of quantum computation”.
Other experts feel the same way, with many believing Willow and its capabilities could reach incredible heights.
At a minimum, Google’s breakthrough quantum computer could likely help the world craft a new one, aiding scientists in solutions to some of Earth’s most pressing problems.
Neven explained in a Google blog post: “This includes helping us discover new medicines, designing more efficient batteries for electric cars, and accelerating progress in fusion and new energy alternatives.
“Many of these future game-changing applications won’t be feasible on classical computers; they’re waiting to be unlocked with quantum computing.”
Professor Winfried Hensinger from the Sussex Centre for Quantum Technologies called Willow’s achievement a “very important milestone” in the field of quantum computers.
He told the Daily Mail: “This result increases our confidence further that humanity will be able to build practical quantum computers enabling some of the highly impactful applications quantum computers are known for.”

FOX NFL color commentator Greg Olsen criticized an officiating call against a Carolina Panthers player in the team’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
The former NFL star tight end reacted to the sequence late in the second quarter of the Week 15 game.

The tackle appeared to be a clean hit on Lamb, but the refs gathered to decide whether the play was worth a penalty.
Olsen shared his opinion on what the tackle looked like.
“In live action, it looked like Woods hit him with his shoulder. Remember, it has to be enforceable contact to the head or neck area. It’s hard in live action to see where the contact is,” Olsen said.
Olsen then added that he believed that the tackle was “clean”, but the refs ended up throwing the flag and handing an unnecessary roughness penalty on Woods, giving Dallas an extra 15 yards on the play and a first down.
It’s safe to say the he former Panthers legend was not pleased with the decision.
“Listen, if we’re going to outlaw this in the NFL then we just have to tell our defensive backs you gotta let ’em just catch it because it’s just not a penalty,” Olsen said.
Play-by-play announcer Joe Davis agreed with his colleague as Olsen added that the hit looked bad in real time but the replay appeared to show that Woods made the proper tackle.
Fortunately for Carolina, the call didn’t cost the team any damage to the scoreboard during the drive.
Dallas’ drive ended with a red zone fumble by Rush.
And on the next play, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young threw an 83-yard touchdown to wide receiver Jalen Coker, making it a Cowboys 10-7 lead that stayed at halftime.
Still, the Cowboys would go on to claim the 30-14 victory.
Rush completed 18 of 29 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns.
Running back Rico Dowdle recorded over 100 rushing for the third straight game.
The win pushed Dallas to a 6-8 record for the season.
As for the Panthers, they fell to 3-11.
Young turned the ball over four times and was sacked six times.
Cowboys defensive linemen Marist Liufau and Osa Odighizuwa forced fumbles, and Marshawn Kneeland and Chauncey Golston recovered both.
Eric Kendricks and Israel Mukama came away with interceptions of Young.
Dallas will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16 while Carolina will play the road team Arizona Cardinals.
