Interim Arsenal Women’s boss Renee Slegers left ‘shocked’ by Jonas Eidevall resigning as head coach

RENEE SLEGERS admitted to being shocked by Jonas Eidevall’s resignation from his role as Arsenal Women’s boss.

The interim Gunners gaffer refused to be drawn on whether she is keen on doing the job permanently.

Slegers, whose past managerial experience includes leading Rosengard to back-to-back top-flight Swedish titles, was sharing her thoughts on Eidevall’s departure today.

The head coach resigned following a disappointing run of one win from four WSL games and a Champions League group stage opening loss.

The Gunners were trounced 5-2 by Bayern Munich away on October 9.

Former Chelsea midfielder Pernille Harder ran riot netting a 16-minute hat-trick after her team mounted a fightback from 2-0 down.

That defeat was followed by a 2-1 Arsenal loss to the Blues at the Emirates in the top tier last Saturday.

The result led to some Gunners fans taking to social media platform X calling for Eidevall to step down.

The former Arsenal chief coach came under more pressure with a painted “Jonas Out” sign spotted on a wall on a road in north London, just hours after the game.

Slegers, who was informed by Eidevall on Monday of his impending departure, said: “I was shocked by the news and very sad because he’s been a good leader for the staff.

“I’ve worked with him before in Sweden and we worked really well together.

“I’m very sad that it got to this point.”

Eidevall’s departure saw him become the first WSL boss to leave this term following an underwhelming run of results.

His former side are currently sixth and five points behind leaders Man City after four WSL fixtures so far this term.

The team, who are playing all their league home games at the Emirates this season, are currently winless at the stadium after three games there this term.

On whether there is more pressure than ever on women’s football bosses, Sleger adds: “I think especially coming to a big club like Arsenal it is definitely a change.

“Particularly compared to where I’ve come from (in the Netherlands) and in Sweden where I’ve worked before.

“I hadn’t worked in England for so long, but I’ve been following it (the game) from the outside.

“It comes with a lot of positives. It’s alive, it’s big now with lots of fans and supporters.

“A lot of people are involved and engaging which is very positive, but it comes with (situations like) this as well.”

Casey Stoney, 42, who managed Man United Women for three years from 2021, is among the figures rumoured to be linked to the role.

The ex-San Diego Wave chief, who guided the American side to an NWSL Shield and  Challenge Cup triumphs, was at the Emirates watching Arsenal last Saturday.

However, the former Red Devils boss is currently not thought to be a candidate, according to BBC Sport.

On whether she wants the job permanently, Slegers said: “Right now I’m just focused on these next two games that are ahead of us.”

Tomorrow Arsenal host Norwegian side Valerenga in at the Emirates in the Champions League.

The team are eager to return to winning ways ahead of a trip to West Ham on Sunday with their last win across all competitions occurring at Leicester on September 29.

Skipper Kim Little said: “Jonas had been our leader for the last few years and he’s made the choice to step away.

“We have a huge amount of respect for him and as a group of players and as a leadership group we have to get the players together.

“It’s a big change but we need to move forward now and change our focus to the game (against Valerenga).

“Ultimately our job is to get out there and play as players and that’s what we need to focus on.”

Diddy posts from jail for 1st time since his arrest as he wishes daughter happy birthday a day after latest rape claims

SEAN “Diddy” Combs has posted on Instagram for the first time since he was arrested and slammed with sex trafficking charges.

Combs wished his 2-year-old daughter Love a happy birthday just one day after more sick accusations surfaced in a new lawsuit.

On Tuesday, Combs shared several pictures of his little girl, who he fathered with cyber security specialist Dana Tran, and wrote out the lyrics to Happy Birthday in the caption.

One picture showed Combs laughing while he played with Love in the ocean, and other shots showed the toddler digging into a birthday cake while wearing a white dress.

“Happy Birthday @loveseancombs daddy loves you,” the post read.

A birthday post on the little girl’s Instagram account, which is run by her mom, said that Love can sing her ABCs, count to 50, cook, and sing.

The mom wrote, “2 years of life and love.”

Little is known about Tran, whose online presence centers around spending time with little Love.

Reports rang out that the two got married earlier this year, but this was never confirmed, and one source told Us Weekly that it wasn’t true.

DISTURBING ALLEGATIONS

It’s been one month since Combs was arrested, and a federal indictment accused him of sex trafficking for his perverse parties called freak-offs.

At the parties, Combs would allegedly film high-profile guests as they had sex with prostitutes who he flew out from around the country and use the video as blackmail.

In the past several weeks, Combs has been hit with a flurry of sexual assault lawsuits, as former employees and complete strangers accuse him of rape, violence, and manipulation.

Six of the suits were filed on Monday, and the accusers consist of two women and four men.

One of the recent suits alleges that Combs orally raped a male Macy’s store worker in an Ecko stockroom at a flagship location in New York City.

Combs and three bodyguards stormed the room and hit the worker on the back of the neck before the mega-producer started “brutally” assaulting him, the suit claims.

The rapper allegedly spewed insults and called the victim “Ecko” before walking back out to the salesfloor and promoting his new clothing line as if nothing happened.

Another lawsuit claims Combs groped a 16-year-old boy and said, “don’t you want to break into the business?”

Diddy's downfall

By The U.S. Sun's Senior Reporter Forrest McFarland, who has been reporting on Diddy's legal battles for years

BEFORE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest in September, it was highly speculated that the rap star would find himself in custody after he was repeatedly hit with disturbing accusations – and had two of his mansions raided by the feds.

His mounting legal troubles finally came to a head on September 17, when he was charged with three federal counts, including sex trafficking, for allegedly forcing victims to take part in drug-fueled sex parties he called “Freak Offs.”

Hours before his arrest, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed the feds investigating Combs were secretly liaising with Tupac Shakur murder prosecutors on gangland activities.

The development also came after Combs was named 77 times in documents submitted by prosecutors in the Tupac murder case.

Aside from the Tupac probe, Combs was already facing a slew of lawsuits, including one he settled with his ex, Cassie Ventura, after she accused him of rape and abuse.

Disturbing hotel surveillance video from 2016 showed Combs chasing Cassie down and then punching, kicking, and beating her in a hallway.

Two months earlier, in March 2024, two of Combs’ mansions were raided by federal investigators, who seized three AR-15s, drugs, and 1,000 bottles of lube which were part of his “Freak Off” supplies.

In addition to his federal criminal charges, Combs also faces a handful of lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking dating back to the early 1990s.

Music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed one suit in February 2024, claiming Combs forced him to hire sex workers and participate in sex acts while he worked on his latest album.

Combs has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the federal sex trafficking charges against him, but his battle is far from over.

He faces life in prison if he’s convicted on all counts.

Jerry Jones in wild live radio rant over Dallas Cowboys chaos and rages ‘I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions’

DALLAS Cowboys owner Jerry Jones went on a fiery tirade on the radio after the team’s disastrous loss to the Detroit Lions.

The longtime NFL owner, 82, scolded radio hosts during his regular weekly interview in Dallas on Tuesday.

Jones appeared on Shan & Ray on Audacy’s 105.3 The Fan two days after the Cowboys‘ 47-9 home defeat to the Lions.

During the interview, he snapped after being asked a question regarding the team’s lack of offseason additions to the roster.

“This is not your job. Your job isn’t to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it. That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding,” Jones said to the show’s hosts Shan Sharrif, R.J. Choppy and Bobby Belt.

“You’re not going to figure out what the team is doing right or wrong.

“If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this [NFL] meeting I’m going to today with 32 teams here, you’re geniuses.”

“You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong without going over the rights?”

Jones did send a message to America’s Team’s fans, saying he’s “very sorry for what happened” in Sunday’s game.

The Cowboys didn’t make significant upgrades after Jones said in the offseason that the team was “all in” on 2024.

He did bring up Tuesday that the Cowboys extensions to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb did meet the definition of going “all in.”

Jones also called out the criticisms of the team’s offseason, saying that he heard the same noise when he bought the Cowboys in 1989 for $140 million.

“One of the stupidest things I’ve ever done, that anybody had ever analyzed was buy the Cowboys. It was an idiot that did that,” Jones said on the radio show.

“So idiot things can turn into good decisions. Smart things can turn into bad decisions.

“The facts are that when you make one, you don’t really know if it’s going to be good or not at the time. So let’s go ahead, I’m trying to answer your questions, man.

“You want some conversation this morning, you’re getting it.”

AP

Jones also didn’t let a question get finished about a potential head coaching change with Mike McCarthy.

He revealed his regret about letting go of Wade Phillips in favor of Jason Garrett during the 2010 campaign.

“And I won’t be making any others during the season,” he said.

The Cowboys were 1-7 at the time of Phillips’ dissmissal and Phillips went on to win a Super Bowl as the Denver Broncos‘ defensive coordinator.

Jones said he has no plans to fire McCarthy during the season, saying he’ll never make another in-season coaching move.

The Cowboys have yet to win a home this year and will not play in Week 7 due to the bye.

The owner and general manager Jones has plenty of time to analyze the Cowboys as they will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.

‘It doesn’t make sense,’ new homeowner cries over staggering $9,700 water bill – company claims he used 355,000 gallons

A NEW homeowner has been left shocked after he was slapped with a water bill costing nearly $10,000.

Seth Priestner thought there’d been a mistake when he first opened the August water bill for his new home in San Antonio, Texas.

Priestner’s water bill costing over $9,700[/caption]

After his family moved into the new house in April, they were charged a typical monthly water bill of around $115 a month.

But just five months later, the bill was $9,707, stating the family used 355,000 gallons of water that month.

“At first we thought they sent us the wrong bill. Like maybe they sent us a commercial bill,” Priestner told CBS affiliate KENS.

“But upon calling SAWS they said ‘No, that is your bill.'”

The San Antonio Water System suggested that Priestner might have had a leak in his house, causing the homeowner to hire a plumber.

However, the plumber couldn’t find a leak in the home.

To make matters even more confusing, the family had a leak repaired in June.

After the plumber’s visit, Priestner asked SAWS to reduce the bill amount since there wasn’t any explanation for the extreme charge.

SAWS reduced the bill – but only to around $6,500.

The charged amount still included a Stage 3 Drought Surcharge fee that cost nearly $3,500.

The surcharge is applied to SAWS customers who use excessive water during drought conditions in the area.

San Antonio experienced a drought this summer, only getting .38 inches of rain in August.

The Stage 3 charge costs $10.37 per thousand gallons for customers who use over 20,000 gallons per month, according to SAWS’ website.

“That is strictly there to discourage people from using excessive water,” Priestner said about the charge.

Timeline of events

  • April 2024: Seth Priestner and his family move into a new San Antonio home
  • April 2024 – July 2024: Water bills cost around $115
  • June 2024 – Leak fixed in Priestner’s home
  • August 2024 – San Antonio Water System bill costs $9,709.93, Priestner finds no more leaks and asks for a deduction, then contacts KENS when he still owes money. KENS gets SAWS to take away the drought fine that Priestner was charged
  • September 2024 – SAWS monitors Priestner’s water use with the utility’s ConnectH2O meter

“I don’t think that’s the case here. It doesn’t make sense to fine someone.”

Priestner then reached out to KENS, who reported that 355,000 gallons of water is about half the amount needed to fill an Olympic swimming pool.

MONEY BACK

After reaching out to SAWS, the outlet found the utility service didn’t physically check the family’s water meter in June or July.

SAWS spokesperson Anne Hayden told KENS the company “estimated” the family’s usage in the summer months – meaning it was unclear when the 355,000 gallons of water went through the meter.

“Because there were two estimated reads we couldn’t be sure when that water use was happening in those two months, so we did give him a partial credit,” Hayden told KENS.

NEW METER

However, Priestner and the outlet still pushed to understand why the surcharge was applied – eventually leading the utility to drop the fine.

“We decided, just to be careful, to give him credit back on the surcharge,” Hayden said.

The company then swapped out Priestner’s analog water meter with SAWS’ new ConnectH2O meter, which can be monitored electronically by the utility and the homeowner via an app.

With the new meter, SAWS was even able to alert Priestner’s family with a “continuous leak alert” after they left a hose running in September.

“This is going to be a wonderful thing to use and we are looking forward to all our customers having access to it,” Hayden said.

Priestner told KENS he was just appreciative that the utility dropped the fine.

The U.S. Sun reached out to SAWS for comment.
