Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing makes cut-throat move as he launches bid to crack America

THEY say you must be cut-throat to get to the top – just ask Jamie Laing.

The ex-reality star, who made his TV debut on Made In Chelsea in 2011, has ditched his entire team of two years in a bid to go global.

Jamie Laing has ditched his entire team of two years in a bid to go global

Jamie has split from UK talent management heavyweight YMU, which looks after some of the leading names in UK TV, including Davina McCall, Emma Willis and Stacey Solomon.

The agency helped guide Jamie to new showbiz heights and a prime-time slot co-hosting BBC Radio 1’s Drivetime show alongside Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton.

But that hasn’t been enough to keep him on its books.

I’m told Jamie, co-founder of sweet brand Candy Kittens, is keen to follow in Mark Wright‘s footsteps and bidding to crack America.

Hit podcast

Former Towie star Mark moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to pursue his Hollywood dream, after securing a slot on US telly presenting entertainment news and gossip show Extra.

Now Jamie has signed to leading LA- based managers United Talent Agency.

A source said: “Jamie had been with YMU for years, and on a personal level he gets on with the team.

“But in recent months things have become more and more complicated and strained, in terms of the direction he thinks he should go and the direction they think would work for him.

“Ultimately Jamie wants to go global and YMU isn’t the best fit for that.

“His deal with UTA is really exciting but many of his old team are gutted to see him go.”

UTA has also snapped up Jamie’s wife Sophie Habboo, his co-host on hit podcast NewlyWeds.

Jamie and Sophie met while filming E4’s Made In Chelsea before tying the knot in Spain in May last year.

Good luck to him with his new move.

But just make sure you don’t forget those people who helped you on your way to the top, Jamie.

The fighting game comes just as a new Dragon Ball anime series begins[/caption]

The game was expected to be a hit, but even die-hard fans of the franchise couldn’t predict the numbers we are seeing.

Stats on PC’s biggest digital store Steam, reveal that the game is the best-selling title on the platform.

With a peak of 122,554 concurrent players on Steam, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero managed to beat other big releases this week, like Metaphor: ReFantazio and the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Sparking! Zero’s player count is impressive even when compared with the same stats of other fighting games, like the recent Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6.

Mortal Kombat 1 peaked at 38,129 players 13 months ago, while Street Fighter 6 amassed 70,573 players around launch in June last year.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero marks the first game in this subseries since Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was released in 2007.

It is also the first time a Budokai Tenkaichi game has been released with its Japanese title “Sparking!” worldwide.

Sparking! Zero is a 3D arena fighter with more than 180 playable characters from the Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT series.

On review aggregator Metacritic, the game boasts an 83 rating for its Xbox version, and after more than 23,000 user reviews on Steam, players are “Very Positive”.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero launched on October 11, 2024, for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at a high point for the Dragon Ball franchise.

The new Dragon Ball Daima anime series starts on October 18, 2024, and will be streamed by Netflix in the West.

Princess Kate ‘sends love, strength and hope’ to anyone who’s felt the ‘devastation’ of baby loss in touching message

At 7pm on Tuesday, people around the world who have suffered pregnancy or baby loss will light a candle to remember the little lives.

In a message of support for families affected by the tragedy of losing a baby, Kensington Palace shared Kate’s emotional note alongside an image of a candle.

The heartfelt post read: “Baby Loss Awareness Week is such an important moment to support those who have experienced the devastation of baby loss.

“Sending love, strength and hope to anyone affected. #WaveofLight C.”

Baby Loss Awareness Week is an annual event that takes place from October 9 until October 15.

Last year, the palace shared links to organisations offering support to those affected.

They will do the same again following The Princess’ message.

Last week, Kate joined husband Prince William to meet with victims of the Southport attack.

Bebe King, six, was killed along with Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the Merseyside town on July 29.

In her first public engagement with Wills since her cancer diagnosis, Kate met privately with the families of the three tragic children, and dance teacher Leanne Lucas who was present when the attack happened.

Leanne, 35, nearly died after being stabbed in the neck, back and arms as she bravely fought to protect her class.

Will and Kate also met with the fire, ambulance, air ambulance and police services at the Southport Community Centre.

The Princess of Wales was seen hugging tearful emergency service workers as they told her of their ordeal responding to the Southport stabbings.

And she was so moved by their traumatic experience that she broke off from the engagement to go back and hug crews who had told of their anxiety and the toll on their mental health since that day.

The Prince and Princess then greeted mental health practitioners who have been working to deliver long term support to the blue light community.

Emergency crews also asked the couple how the families of the three slain little girls were coping, after their private meeting with the victims just minutes before.

Kate, 42, told them: “They’re OK. They’re managing it differently. All the families are so different. Individually too they are managing it and processing this tragic event in very different ways but they’re getting support from families and officers and things like that.

She added: “I can’t underestimate how grateful they all are for the support you provided on the day.

“On behalf of them, thank you.”

In a heartwarming post on X, formerly Twitter, the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote: “We continue to stand with everyone in Southport.

“Meeting the community today has been a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting one another in the wake of unimaginable tragedy.

“You will remain in our thoughts and prayers. W & C.”

The moving post was accompanied by a picture of William and Kate speaking with those involved in the Southport tragedy.

It comes after Kate last month announced she is now “cancer free”.

The Princess announced she had finished her chemotherapy course in a heartfelt video on September 9.

Kate, 42, said she was entering “this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life”.

Who is Dominick Dunne, how did his daughter Dominque die and what was his involvement in Erik and Lyle Menendez’s trial?

DOMINICK Dunne is one of America’s most famous journalists and writers, who covered some of the biggest trials in American history for Vanity Fair.

He documented the Menendez brothers’ infamous trial, which saw them accused and eventually convicted, in 1996, for killing their parents Kitty and Jose.

Friends and colleagues in high places

Dominick was born on October 29, 1925, in Connecticut and grew up in a wealthy Irish Catholic family.

His younger brother John Gregory Dunne shared his passion for writing and the pair began to write a column for The Saturday Evening Post.

They would later collaborate on the film The Panic in Needle Park, with Dominick as a producer and John as a co-writer alongside his wife Joan Didion

Joan is widely considered to be one of the most important writers and journalists in American history.

When Dominick moved to New York City in 1949, he began to socialize with Hollywood’s elite and was friends with Elizabeth Taylor and Elizabeth Montgomery.

He married Ellen Beatriz Griffin in 1954 and they went on to have three children together, including Griffin Dunne and Dominique Dunne who both became actors.

Dominick divorced Ellen in 1965 and described himself decades later as a “closeted bisexual celibate”.

Death in the family

In November 1982, his daughter Dominique was murdered at the age of 22 by her ex-boyfriend John Thomas Sweeney.

John strangled her on the driveway of her home in Hollywood, which caused her to slip into a five-day coma.

Sadly, she couldn’t be revived by doctors and she passed away.

Dominique had rocketed to fame that same year when she starred in the horror film Poltergeist.

Her father kept a journal throughout the trial, which was later published in a 1984 Vanity Fair article named  “Justice: A Father’s Account of the Trial of his Daughter’s Killer”.

The article was a huge success and he began to write regularly for the magazine, covering the trials of O.J. Simpson, Claus von Bulow, Michael Skakel, William Kennedy Smith, and the Menendez brothers.

Nightmare on Elm Drive

Dominick’s account of the Menendez Trial in Vanity Fair was named Nightmare on Elm Drive.

The account was so comprehensive that it was entered into the Library of America’s two-century retrospective of American true crime writing.

During the trial, the Menendez brothers alleged that they had murdered their parents as a result of sexual abuse perpetrated by their father, José.

Eventually, they were sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Dominick spoke to as many people involved in the case as he could and regularly sat in court to take notes.

He talked at length with the Menendez brothers’ defense lawyer Leslie Abramson, who he said waved a middle finger at a reporter.

Dominick described the attorney as “fierce”, “fearless” and “funny”, but added that her hair reminded him of “Orphan Annie”.

His younger brother John based a character named Leah Kaye in his 1987 novel The Red White and Blue on Leslie.

Dominick reported Leslie as describing the brothers as the “very best clients I’ve ever had” and as “two foundlings”, adding “You want to take them home with you”.

His account is the most intimate and revealing record of the case, outside of the Court TV recording.

In the article, Dominick never decides whether the brothers are guilty or innocent.

Instead, he finishes by reflecting on how much the brother’s therapist knew, how much he told his mistress and what was in the recordings that were not used in court.

He wrote: “She said that last December, almost two months after the October 31 confession to Oziel, which was not taped, the boys, feeling that the police were beginning to suspect them, voluntarily made a tape in which they confessed to the crime.

“In it, they spoke of their remorse.

“In it, apparently, they told of psychological abuse.

“But sexual abuse?

“Judalon Smyth did not hear this tape, and by that time Dr. Oziel was no longer confiding in her.”

Bradshaw joked that Stafford only calls him every few years[/caption]

Stafford and the Rams were on a bye during Week 6, giving him time to break down some of the week’s action with the Fox crew.

Very quickly, Terry Bradshaw made it known that he was a big fan of Stafford’s.

“You’ve got a fan there,” Jimmy Johnson said while pointing at Bradshaw.

“Well, he knows that,” Bradshaw replied.

The statement made Stafford smile, and he turned to shake Bradshaw’s hand after the admission.

“Terry is my guy,” Stafford said.

“We are buddies, we are,” Bradshaw replied.

After claiming they were friends, Howie Long wondered if Stafford ever calls Bradshaw, and the Pittsburgh Steelers legend made a hilarious joke about it.

“He calls me once every four years,” Bradshaw said.

The joke left the entire cast of Fox NFL Sunday in a fit of laughter before they could move on to the next segment.

NFL fans enjoyed the segment, and many shared how much they enjoyed having Stafford on the show.

“My man Matthew Stafford auditioning for his Fox NFL Sunday post retirement career!!” one fan said.

“Don’t change @NFLonFOX#FOXNFLSunday, don’t change!” another fan said.

“Fox nfl Sunday is toxic lol Stafford was like a new dog to them,” a third fan said.

“Fox NFL Sunday just had they funniest segment ever idk how that’s gon go over but that was hilarious,” a fourth fan said.

London calling

The New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings kick off the NFL's annual run of London fixtures.

New York and Minnesota face off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday October 6 at 2.30pm local time – 9.30am ET for fans back home in America.

It is the first of three straight NFL Sundays that begin with an early game live from London.

The following week, Tottenham also plays host to the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Chicago Bears.

And on October 20, the Jags will head across town to Wembley Stadium to take on the New England Patriots.

After the crew got their laughs out, Stafford went on to talk about how he throws the football.

Stafford is a good person to learn from, as he currently has over 57,000 passing yards in his NFL career.

While he isn’t having a spectacular season this year, Stafford has still thrown 360 touchdowns in his 16-year career and won the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021.

Stafford has two years left on his contract with the Rams after this season, and he is getting close to retirement.

After his performance on Fox NFL Sunday this week, he could find himself on the cast once he hangs up his cleats.

Teenagers dressed as furry animals and crawling on all-fours are ATTACKING passersby in bizarre new viral craze

TEENAGERS dressed as furry animals and crawling on all fours have been attacking people on the streets in a bizarre new viral trend.

Wearing costumes of dogs and cats, kids pretending to be animals are growling, barking and meowing in a bid to mimic animal behaviour – and are even bitting and scratching passersby.

Bizzare footage shows a group of people dressed up as furry animals crawling on the streets of Uzbekistan.

Other pictures show a teenage girl wearing a cat costume goading a dog.

A third clip shows a young kid, dressed up as a black cat and tied to a leash, walking on all fours on a public street.

The woman holding the leash can be seen petting the person as if it were a real cat.

Called the quadrobers, these people copy animal behaviour, such as movements and sounds, while wearing clothing elements like animal masks, paws and tails.

It has become a viral trend in many parts of Russia and the former Soviet Union.

Cops are now hunting for one teenager who bit at least one passerby after pretending to be a dog in Uzbekistan, the Telegraph reports.

The government has also threatened to fine the parents of such kids who are found to be quadrobing out in public.

A spokesperson said in a statement: “Experts believe that quadrobics can lead to the child taking on the aggressive actions of animals, injuring himself and others, and can lead to damage to the child’s not yet fully formed psyche, as well as to his isolation from society.”

Russian lawmakers are also working to introduce a legal ban on the trend that has gone viral this year among the youth.

They say it can “seriously harm” teenagers and affect other people around them.

Natalia Kosikhina, a Russian senator, said: “I believe that we need to make sure that children are more interested in sports and educational activities that would not harm the psyche and health of others.”

Quadrobics: a social media trend or a vicious anomaly?

Quadrobics is believed to have been invented by Japanese sprint runner Kenichi Ito, who set a world record in running on four limbs in an imitation of a monkey.

Teenagers have now turned it into a viral trend where they roleplay as various animals by wearing costumes and mimicking their behaviour.

The trend is said to have migrated from Japan to many parts of Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

While some teenagers increasingly take part in the viral trend as a pastime hobby, others claim they are fascinated by animals with human characteristics.

People who follow therianthropes – another subculture in the trend – believe that they have the souls of animals and were accidentally born as human beings.

Many experts believe the trend can have long-lasting negative effects on children’s mental health.

However, some psychologists claim that sport does not have any negative effects on society.

Vera Sukhikh, a psychotherapist and research fellow at Moscow State University, said: “Quadrobics is an advanced imaginative game that migrated from preschool age to early adolescence.

“In this sense, I do not see anything asocial…in quadrobics,” said Sukhikh.

“The game stays with a person for life as a way to have fun, distract himself, and unload emotionally.”
