Ferne McCann reveals brutal Dancing On Ice injury that left her in tears during gruelling rehearsals

FERNE McCann has revealed tears were rolling down her face after a bad fall during Dancing On Ice training.

The Towie star revealed the painful reality of her training after The Sun revealed she had signed up earlier this year.

She said a brutal fall left her in tears on the ice – on her first day.

The reality star explained that she took a hard tumble minutes after stepping into her skates.

She said: “I fell on my first day, the bruise is gone now, but they were like, ‘that’s great, get the fall out.’”

However, the fall has only added to her fears about the challenge ahead.

She added: “I think that’s made me more scared. I know how hard it is!”

“I haven’t fallen like that since a kid, the tears were rolling down my face.”

The reality TV star will appear on Dancing On Ice 2025, but fans of Ferne will no longer see her on ITV’s First Time Mum after she revealed the heart breaking reason why she quit.

Ferne quit her First Time Mum reality TV show after seven years.

Opening up about why she came to the decision, Ferne told GMB that her six-year-old daughter had asked her if she “was famous”, and this troubled her.

“I know it sounds really contradictory, because we’ve had the reality show, and it’s all Sunday’s ever known, it’s actually…. normal for her to film the show, and it really just stopped me in my tracks, and it made me feel really uncomfortable.”

Ferne added that she made “the decision to be famous”, but her child didn’t and thought it best to take a break so she “does not have to come home from school and film”

Her eldest daughter, named Sunday, is the child of acid attack convict Arthur Collins.

Ferne revealed on March 6, 2023, that she was pregnant with her second child with fiancée Lorri Haynes.

Ferne participated in the 15th series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, appearing as one of the late arrivals and ultimately finishing in third place — after controversially swallowing a live spider.

In January 2016, she joined ITV’s This Morning as a showbiz reporter.

In 2022, she took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, where she nearly killed fellow contestant Calum Best, and both went on to pass the course.

Arsenal wonderkid’s substitute appearance delayed by wardrobe malfunction as fans say ‘his mum will be fuming’

ARSENAL wonderkid Myles Lewis-Skelly was left baffled after being temporarily blocked from entering the pitch during tonight’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 18-year-old was introduced to replace Riccardo Calafiori in the 72nd minute.

However, he was briefly stopped from entering the pitch by the fourth official due to an earring.

The official would not let him go on until he took the earring out – even though it was taped up.

Lewis-Skelly quickly resolved the issue before running on for his second-ever Champions League appearance.

Fans on social media found the mishap hilarious, with one person writing: “Myles Lewis-Skelly trying to come on for Arsenal with a brand new earring taped over. 4th official not having it 😂.”

Another commented: “They made Lewis-Skelly take out his fresh piercing 😂 He better hope that don’t heal up and close on him.”

While a third joked: “Lewis-Skelly’s mum is gonna be fuming 😭 his entry into a champions league game delayed because he has to take his earring off 🤣.”

Arsenal went on to win the match 1-0 thanks to an own-goal.

Gabriel Martinelli‘s 29th-minute strike was deflected in off the back of Shakhtar keeper Dmytro Riznyk.

The Gunners had plenty of chances to extend their lead but failed to make the most of them.

Leandro Trossard missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 from the penalty spot with 15 minutes left to play.

The Belgian fired his shot straight down the middle, making it relatively easy for Riznyk to save.

Arsenal now have seven points from three games in the Champions League.

Major bank giving away £180 in free cash in time for Christmas – are you eligible?

A MAJOR bank is giving away £180 in free cash – just in time for the expensive Christmas period.

The generous reward is available to any new or existing customer who switches their main current account to the bank’s reward account.

The offer from NatWest lasts for a limited time only – so those eyeing up the extra cash for Christmas should act fast.

To be eligible, customers must pay £1250 into their new Reward Account – through either single or multiple payments.

This must remain in the account for 24 hours.

Customers must also have the latest version of the NatWest mobile banking app.

If these conditions are met, £180 will be paid into the account within seven days.

And it’s not the only reward available for switching to the NatWest Reward Account.

Customers can also receive a further £60 in rewards a year by signing up – as well as money off at a range of retailers.

However, the account does charge a £2 monthly fee.

Other banks are also offering cash incentives for switching bank accounts in the runup to Christmas.

Lloyds is offering £200 to customers who switch to the Club Lloyds account before December 10.

Those who open a 1st Account with First Direct can enjoy a payment of £175.

Nationwide has launched a new offer of £175 to switch to its FlexDirect, FlexPlus or FlexAccount current accounts.

And Co-op Bank has announced that customers could receive £75 for switching to the bank – plus three monthly installments of £75.

Aside from the Reward Account, NatWest also has some other tempting offers for customers.

These include a 6% interest rate with the Digital Regular Saver account, prepaid “Rooster” debit cards for kids, and 1% back in rewards on the Travel Reward Credit Card.

These rewards can be exchanged for Amazon vouchers as well as cash.

To change your bank account, you should go through the Current Account Switch Service (CASS).

This automatically moves all your direct debits to your new account.

How do I switch bank accounts?

SWITCHING bank accounts is a simple process and can usually be done through the Current Account Switch Service (CASS).

Dozens of high street banks and building societies are signed up – there’s a full list on CASS’ website.

Under the switching service, swapping banks should take seven working days.

You don’t have to remember to move direct debits across when moving, as this is done for you.

All you have to do is apply for the new account you want, and the new bank will tell your existing one you’re moving.

There are a few things you can do before switching though, including choosing your switch date and transferring any old bank statements to your new account.

You should get in touch with your existing bank for any old statements.

When switching current accounts, consider what other perks might come with joining a specific bank or building society.

Some banks offer 0% overdrafts up to a certain limit, and others might offer better rates on savings accounts.

And some banks offer free travel or mobile phone insurance with their current accounts – but these accounts might come with a monthly fee.

‘I blame myself and I blame Sir Alex Ferguson for Man Utd’s chaos – this is not the same club it used to be’

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Patrice Evra has surprisingly blamed himself and Sir Alex Ferguson for the club’s disastrous decade.

Since the legendary boss retired, Man Utd have not won the Premier League title and their fifth permanent manager Erik ten Hag is in danger of losing job.

Evra even blamed Sir Alex Ferguson for the club’s decline[/caption]

The Red Devils crashed out the Champions League group stages and finished eighth in the Premier League with a negative goal difference last term.

Evra departed Old Trafford in 2014 – a year after Sir Alex quit the club.

And the outspoken Frenchman bizarrely blamed himself and his former gaffer for the club’s recent downfall.

He told the BBC with a smile: “I blame myself, I blame Sir Alex Ferguson.”

Evra continued: “It’s always tough to talk about United right now because back in the day we used to play for the fans, for the badge, for the history.

“When we left, we left too early and it’s difficult for the players because they don’t have any example.

“I’m not inside, I don’t know what the problem is. The manager Ten Hag is trying to do his best – it’s not good enough.

“But it’s not just about this season, it’s since we won the last league in 2013, the club has been in chaos.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

“I’m a positive man, but it’s tough. Our rivals are getting better than us, play a better style of football. The future is not bright. It’s a tough moment.

“Liverpool waited 30 years to win the Premier League again, now it’s been 11 years [since United’s last title]. I don’t want to wait that long.

“No matter what, I will be a United fan forever, but it’s quite tough to watch United play.”

Ten Hag has often claimed success in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup means he should keep his job.

But Evra says two trophies is “not enough” for a club like United, explaining: “I’m a straightforward guy. Even if you put the chef as a manager, I will support any manager.

“Three years [Ten Hag has] been at the club and, yes, he’s won two trophies.

“When you’re the manager of United, what people expect from you is to win the league every year.

“We need to stop talking about the past. This is not the United it used to be. We have to rebuild it.”

Ancient Greek disease that causes fatal bleeding and horror rash ‘re-emerges’ amid cost-of-living crisis

A DISEASE first reported in Ancient Greek and Egyptian times is making a comeback, doctors have warned.

The cost of living crisis and a rise in weight loss surgeries could be factors in its return.

Scurvy is a severe lack of vitamin C found in fruit and vegetables[/caption]

Swollen, bleeding gums is one of the symptoms of scurvy to look out for[/caption]

Scurvy is a condition caused by a lack of vitamin C found in fresh fruit and veg.

The condition is typically associated with sailors enduring long voyages during the Middles Ages.

But doctors in the journal BMJ Case Reports have suggested it’s now re-emerging.

Doctors say it’s “eminently” treatable, but because it’s a disease associated with the past, it could be mistaken for other conditions.

For example, it can be confused with inflamed blood vessels (vasculitis), putting people at risk of fatal bleeding if left untreated.

Signs can appear as early as a month after a daily intake of less than 10mg of vitamin C.

According to the NHS, scurvy symptoms include:

  • feeling very tired and weak all the time
  • feeling irritable and sad all the time
  • joint, muscle or leg pain
  • swollen, bleeding gums (sometimes teeth can fall out)
  • developing red or blue spots on the skin, usually on the legs and feet, although this may be less noticeable on brown or black skin
  • skin that bruises easily

Recent case of scurvy

The warnings come as doctors in Australia recently treated a man in his early 50s with the condition.

They said his legs were covered with tiny painful red-brown pinpoints, resembling a rash.

Blood was also present in his urine and he was anaemic.

He tested negative for inflammatory, autoimmune and blood disorders, and scans revealed no evidence of internal bleeding.

A skin biopsy also returned no diagnostic clues. But his rash continued to spread while he was in hospital.

Dr Andrew Dermawan, of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Nedlands, Western Australia, said: “Further questioning revealed that he was short of cash and neglected his diet, eating little in the way of fruit and vegetables.

“He said that he sometimes skipped meals altogether.

“He had also stopped taking the nutritional supplements prescribed for him after previous weight loss surgery, because he said he couldn’t afford them.”

Blood tests to assess his general nutritional status indicated no detectable levels of vitamin C and very low levels of other key nutrients.

He was diagnosed with scurvy and treated with daily vitamin C (1000 mg), vitamin D3, folic acid and multivitamin supplements, after which his painful rash and other symptoms cleared up.

Dr Dermawan said it was just one case, and while it’s not clear what the current prevalence of scurvy is, it’s still relatively rare.

He said: “Scurvy is still seen as a disease of the past, especially in developed countries.

“The rising cost of living also makes it harder for families to afford good quality nutritious foods, while there have been numerous reports of scurvy arising from complications following bariatric surgery.”

Other risk factors

Dr Dermawan said other risk factors for scurvy include alcoholism, smoking, eating disorders, low household income, obesity, kidney dialysis, and drugs that interfere with vitamin C absorption, such as steroids and those that curb stomach acid production, known as proton pump inhibitors.

He added: “Our patient had multiple risk factors, namely poor dietary habits, obesity, previous bariatric surgery, use of proton pump inhibitors and low-income status.

“His history of iron, vitamin D and folate deficiencies were also clues to his underlying nutritional deficiency.”

What is scurvy and are you at risk?

Scurvy describes severe vitamin C deficiency, and until now has been considered rare.

The condition is caused by not having enough vitamin C in your diet over a long period of time, with vitamin C mainly found in fruit and vegetables.

The NHS says you could be at risk of scurvy if:

  • have no fresh fruits or vegetables in your diet for a while
  • eat very little food at all – possible reasons include treatments that make you feel very sick all the time (such as chemotherapy) or an eating disorder such as anorexia
  • smoke, as smoking reduces how much vitamin C your body gets from food
  • have a long-term dependency on drugs or alcohol that affects your diet
  • have a poor diet while pregnant or breastfeeding, because the body needs more vitamin C at these times

Babies, children and older people who find it hard to have a healthy diet may also be more at risk of scurvy.

If you think you or your child is at risk of scurvy, see a GP.
