AN award-winning reality show has been axed after a whopping 23 series on air.
One of the show’s leading stars has admitted the programme has “run its course” after 12 years and countless spin-offs.
The programme follows various different people living in remote parts of Alaska as they survive off the beaten track.
In the show, fans keep up to date with the cast’s personal lives as well as seeing the struggles of life in tough terrain and an unforgiving environment.
Among the cast are married could Chip and Agnes Hailstone who live with their seven children on the Kobuk River.
Agnes is one of the longest-serving residents of Alaska, having spent her entire life there and family ties to land that dates back thousands of years.
However, after 12 years, the duo confirmed that they show, which airs on Disney+ and National Geographic, would not be returning after its 23rd season.
Confirming its fate online, Chip said: “Well, folks, it’s official; Life Below Zero has run its course.
“No contract, No Life Below Zero.
“It was a fun 12 years and the show won 9 Emmy Awards, and we were on the first to the last episodes. Now onto a sharp and profitable future.”
The news that the show had been brought to an end left many viewers devastated as they expressed their sorrow online.
One fan wrote underneath Chip’s post: “We will miss seeing you and everyone else on the program. You have been a fixture in our lives.”
Another added: “I’m so disappointed by this news. I can’t wait for the final season to air.”
Before a third penned: “We will miss your family. I never missed a show … Thank you for letting us into your lives.”
However, Chip appeared to be open to the show being revived in the future but hinted it was unlikely as he added in a further post on X: “Never know, they occasionally revive shows from the grave, so theres a small chance we will get resurrected….”
Both of the show’s spin-off series have also been given the boot with select cast members from those editions being moved to the main programme for its 23rd and final season.
Produced by BBC Studios, production has already fully wrapped on the once-popular spin-offs, Life Below Zero: Next Generation and Life Below Zero: First Alaskans.

A CIRCLE symbol that lights up on your vehicle’s dashboard is a sign you must pull over right away and get a mechanic to fix it otherwise you could find yourself stranded.
As technology has advanced the warning lights that can pop up from time to time has also evolved and every driver needs to know about them.
Fortunately the experts at the RAC have complied all you need to know to keep you safe on the road.
Generally speaking, the warning lights on your dashboard follow a traffic light colour system.
Green – everything is working correctly or is currently being used.
Yellow – something is not working correctly and you should take extra care and get it checked out as soon as possible.
Red – there is a serious and possibly dangerous problem. Drivers should stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
One key symbol you need to be aware of is a round steering wheel symbol with an exclamation mark next to it.
This is a warning about the power steering and is also known as the EPS or EPAS warning light.
This tells the motorist there is an issue with the power steering.
For electric vehicles this could actually be something simple to fix such as rebooting the car’s computer.
Or it could be something much more serious.
The motoring experts at the RAC say you should find a safe place to stop and try turning the car off, waiting 30 seconds and then turn it back on again.
If the light goes out, all well and good.
But if the light remains on, the RAC warns: “You need to take your car to get checked as soon as possible”.
It also warns: “If the power steering system fails you will notice that the car is harder to manoeuvre, and you should take extra care – it could be dangerous to drive at high motorway speeds without power steering assistance.”
Another key warning light is the airbag warning light which is indicated by a sitting person with a seat belt on and a large circle in front of them.
This is also known as the supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning light.
If the light comes up read it means that at least one element of the airbag safety system is not working correctly.
This could be either the airbag system itself; the front passenger occupant classification system (which detects the front passenger’s weight and position in order to safely deploy the airbag); or the seat belt pretensioner system, which tightens the belt in the event of a crash.
If the safety system is not working properly, it may not go off in a crash or even it might deploy unexpectedly and cause a crash.
The RAC says that either way though the airbag system is an “incredibly important” safety feature and you should get it checked out immediately.
Another key warning symbol is indicated by a car with squiggly lines in front of it.
This is the electronic stability problem (ESP) warning light which is also known as the electronic stability control (ESC).
If this lights up, it indicates an issue with the traction control.
If it flashes, this tells the driver the ESP system is intervening, such as when you are driving on a slippery road.
Should the light though remain on this means the ESP system is not working properly.
The ESP light will light up with the word ‘OFF’ if the system has been deactivated, in which case you may have inadvertently turned it off.
At first, try stopping and starting the engine to see if this clears the issue.
If the light remains on after restarting, the RAC advises to get it checked at a garage because “the ESP system is an important safety feature”.
THIS Morning descended into chaos today as Sam Thompson broke a second Guinness World Record live on the show.
The Made In Chelsea favourite smashed made his way into the record book in January when the boundlessly enthusiastic telly star dished out the most hugs in one minute, with a huge 88.
He was delighted to see his smiling face in the latest edition of the famous book upon its release last month.
Today, Sam was roped in to do another, more seasonal, challenge that saw him try and hit more than 25 conkers in 60 seconds.
He duly succeeded, racking up 31, and upon hearing the adjudicator confirm his record-breaking feat he leaped into host Ben Shephard‘s arms.
Screaming in joy and jumping around full of excitement, Sam managed to break his microphone in the process.
He was very apologetic, telling co-star Ben: “I’m so sorry, they’re really expensive.”
But the calm host reassured Sam it was OK and gave him a spare.
Sam set his first record in the coastal town of Shoreham-by-Sea and was full of praise for its residents as he reacted to his inclusion in the book.
He said last month: “It feels so good. Can I just say, Shoreham-by-Sea is one of the nicest places I’ve ever been, the people are so lovely.
“We had a massive line and everyone was running at me. To get the record you had to tap their back as they came into your chest, it was so fun.”
He added: “I’m over the moon with it.”
