CBS broadcaster Charles Davis takes shot at Dallas Cowboys on Chargers-Texans after ‘wide receivers were chipping in’

CBS analyst Charles Davis aimed a shot at the Dallas Cowboys as sunlight streaked across the field during the Houston Texans’ playoff win.

During the first quarter, sunlight could be seen streaming into the Texans‘ stadium towards the sideline where Los Angeles Chargers players and coaches were standing.

The sunlight had a huge impact on a Dallas Cowboys game against the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this season

On the broadcast, lead commentator Ian Eagle said: “Sun spots have moved now towards the sideline.

“I feel like I just want to chip in for some blinds, help them out.”

Davis then quipped: “You know, I think they’re making some in Dallas…”

Eagle responded: “Yea, that was an issue.”

And Davis quipped again: “I heard the wide receivers there are chipping in on that.”

Dallas Cowboys fans will know exactly what Davis was referencing.

But to those who don’t, the unique design of the AT&T Stadium come back to haunt them.

The $1.3 billion stadium has had huge issues with sunlight streaming onto the field.

The stadium was built with an east-west orientation with huge large glass windows behind both endzones – the majority of NFL stadiums are built north-south to avoid glare from the sun.

Despite being a dome and having curtains to keep out the glare, the curtains are never closed for Cowboys games, although they have been for concerts and other events.

Dallas receivers have complained about the situation numerous times over the years and earlier this season, the sunlight appeared to cost the Cowboys a game.

In week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Ceedee Lamb completely MISSED a potential touchdown throw from Cooper Rush.

After the game, Lamb said: “I couldn’t see the ball.

“Couldn’t see the all, at all. The sun.

“Lamb was then asked if he was in favor of using curtains and replied he would be “one thousand percent.”

But Lamb’s comments sparked a furious reaction from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who said: “We do know where the damn sun’s going to be at our own stadium.”

Asked about potentially closing curtains, he said: “Well, let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one?

“You kidding me? Everybody’s got the same thing… every team that comes in here has the same issues.

“They know where the sun’s going to be. Every team has the same thing.”

Jones later said the sunlight in the stadium has been an advantage to the Cowboys more times than not over the years.
