Chevrons thrash Kenya ending Sub Regional Qualifiers unbeaten

By Sport Reporter

ZIMBABWE senior men’s cricket team finished the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifier B unbeaten after registering a 62-run win over host Kenya on Thursday.

Player of the Match Ryan Burl was the hero for Zimbabwe as he attained 61 runs off 43 balls.

Coming on position five in the middle batting order, Burl rescued Zimbabwe from a determined Kenya fielding team which had eliminated the opening batting partner of Brian Bennett and Dion Myers within the first 3 overs.

Zimbabwe displayed a good fielding in the second innings, bowling out Kenya with 102 runs in 19.1 overs.

Despite the defeat, Kenya joined Zimbabwe as one of the two nations from Sub Regional Qualifier B to book a place at the Regional Qualifiers scheduled for next year.

Zimbabwe’s five victories were recorded against Seychelles (76 runs), Mozambique (9 wickets), Rwanda (149 runs), Gambia (290 runs) and Kenya (61 runs).

Chevrons’ 344-run win over Gambia saw them setting a new highest recorded score in T20I history, as Sikandar became the country’s first century in T20I history.
