Chief Hwenje Speaks Out: Praise Singer Thanks Mnangagwa for Life-Saving India Trip

Renowned Zanu-PF praise singer and supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Chief Hwenje, has spoken publicly for the first time since receiving medical treatment in India after he was diagnosed with blood cancer.

The 37-year-old musician made his first public appearance last Thursday at Mkandapi Business Centre in Shurugwi, where President Mnangagwa commissioned the resurfaced 43-kilometre Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road. Chief Hwenje’s energetic performance and lively dances captivated the crowd, making it hard to believe he had recently undergone a medical procedure.

Chief Hwenje revealed that he was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that impacts the lymphatic and immune systems.

Chief Hwenje Thanks President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF After Treatment in India

Speaking to The Herald on the sidelines of the event, Chief Hwenje expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Mnangagwa and his family for facilitating his trip to India and offering support during his treatment.

“I want to thank the First Family for ensuring that I went to India. The President ensured that I got all the treatment and attention that I needed, including the medical procedure that I went through. They would constantly check on me to hear about my progress,” he said.

He also acknowledged support from Zanu-PF leadership in the Midlands Province, as well as Gutu West legislator John Paradza, for helping take care of his family while he was away.

“I also thank Zanu PF and its leadership in the Midlands Province, Gutu West legislator, Cde John Paradza, among others. They assisted a lot, particularly in taking care of my family as I was away. I had a medical procedure done and I am now feeling better,” said Chief Hwenje.

New Album Plans Put on Hold

When asked about his upcoming album, Chief Hwenje explained that his medical team has advised him to rest and take a break from work.

“For now I will not be pursuing the new album. My medical team strongly advised me to rest and I am duty bound to do as they have directed. Until they say I can resume my work, I will be resting at my rural home,” he said.
