Pandey had plans to go out last Saturday, August 24, for her birthday party with friends, but never showed up.
Her friends grew concerned when she stopped replying to messages.
Pandey’s manager also noticed she had stopped responding to texts on Saturday, according to court documents reviewed by local outlet KHOU News.
The leasing manager of Pandey’s complex then received a chilling call on Saturday night that a dead body was in one of the units, per Houston Police.
The police also received a 911 call about a dead body and responded to Pandey’s home – only to find her with multiple gunshot wounds to her stomach.
She was found lying in her bed and suffered an additional gunshot wound to the back of her head.
MOMENTS BEFORE THE ATTACK
Footage captured before Pandey’s murder showed an older man standing outside her door with a gun by his side.
Police released a screen grab of the video to the public for help in identifying the suspect.
After five days of investigating, authorities were able to identify the suspect as a 51-year-old man named Bobby Sing Shah.
A friend of Pandey’s told detectives that he helped her install a camera above her door since she lived alone, according to KHOU.
He added that Pandey had dealt with a stalker last year.
Once investigators were able to access the recordings, they found footage of the night she was killed.
One video showed Pandey seen near the door to her apartment with a shoe box, a shopping bag, a jacket, and a purse.
Shah had a gun by his side and Pandey could be heard asking him what he was planning on doing.
He then racked the slide of the gun and asked her to open the door.
She eventually agreed and footage showed the two walking into her apartment.
After an hour, Shah left her apartment with the black purse she was holding, investigators told KHOU.
