Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Responds to Rumors He Will be Traded in the Offseason

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons just had a standout game against the Carolina Panthers, recording four combined tackles and two sacks.

This performance was pivotal in helping Dallas defeat Carolina 30-14, but that shouldn’t surprise anyone who has watched Parsons play over the years.

Naturally, this is a player any franchise would love to have on their team. However, rumors suggest that the three-time Pro Bowler could go somewhere else in the offseason.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Parsons has officially addressed these rumors saying he understands that the NFL is a business.

“I understand how that business side goes,” Parsons said. “There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I’m here or anywhere else. Obviously I’ve stated that I want to be here. But at the end of the day, I understand the business side.”

That being said, Parsons says that he still wants to stay in Dallas.

“I’ve put in a lot of work, I’ve played hard too, so obviously if sides can’t agree to those type of things, it happens like that. But I’m just happy to be here. I’m just gonna keep playing hard while I’m here. If I’m here for the next 5-6 years, I’m gonna keep playing hard then too. Ain’t nothing really gonna make a difference, Micah is gonna play hard.”

Parsons has been a defensive star ever since he played for the Penn State Nittany Lions in college.

In his freshman year, Parsons recorded 82 combined tackles, two forced fumbles, and 1.5 sacks across 13 games. He was named a Freshman All-American.

Parsons’ sophomore year was even better, recording 109 combined tackles, five sacks, five pass deflections, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Parsons took home multiple awards for the season, including being a consensus All-American, first-team All-Big Ten, and Big Ten Linebacker of the Year.

After opting out of the 2020 NCAA Seasons due to COVID-19, Parsons declared for the 2021 NFL Draft. He was selected by Dallas with the 12th overall pick.

Parsons made an immediate impact in his rookie year, setting the Cowboys franchise record for most sacks by a rookie (13). Additionally, he recorded 84 combined tackles, three pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.

For his excellent play, Parsons was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, a first-team All-Pro, and won the Butkus Award.

In total, Parsons has been named to the Pro Bowl and to an All-Pro team every season he has played.
