The genesis of this rumour can be traced to a post by an X user, @98QMoney, who tweeted:
“DC YOUNGFLY DIED??”
He also shared a screenshot depicting the search term “dc young fly passed away” on December 21.
The post was soon re-shared by several X users, and reactions started pouring in.
Who is DC Young Fly?
For the unversed, DC Young Fly is an Atlanta-based rapper best known for his participation in Wild ‘N Out. He commands a hefty 42,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
His most notable numbers include “Faith and Hope,” “No Choice,” “No Weed,” and “Good Thang.”
He also boasts a gargantuan following of 13 million followers on his Instagram account.
He regularly posts Instagram stories, and his latest story was about him going clean-shaven.
However, as the rumours continue to circulate, the rapper is very much alive and has become one more victim of a death hoax.
His last post was as recent as December 21, in which he detailed how he had become clean-shaven.
On the same day, he also shared a video titled “Grinch parody,” in which he donned the attire of a well-known Christmas character and was performing in a hospital room.
DC Young Fly joins a long list of personalities who have fallen victim to death hoaxes, including celebrities such as Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled, Adam Sandler, and Oprah Winfrey.
Fly has also stated that he intends to perform in comedy shows in 2025 and is scheduled to perform in Albany on March 15 and 16.
