Durga Ashtami Vrat is considered a very important vrat in the Sanatan Dharma to be followed for the worship of Goddess Durga. Durgashtami Vrat is special in Sharadiya Navratri. This year, according to the Vedic calendar, Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month will begin on October 10, 2024 at 12:35 pm and will end on October 11, 2024 at 12:05 pm. This year Saptami Vrat will start on 10th October and Durgashtami Vrat will be performed on 11th October.
Durgashtami Vrat: In the detailed scriptures, the importance of Durgashtami Vrat has been explained. Ashtami Vrat is very important among the nine days of Navratri. The Mother Bhagwati and girls are worshipped on this day. Kanya Pujan holds especial importance and through it, happiness, prosperity, and wealth are attained in life. Moreover, in order to overcome planetary defects, the fast is also used.
The day is very auspicious, especially the Ashtami and Navami days. It is a custom to please Maa Durga by feeding the girls on that day. According to religious beliefs, Maa Durga resides in the girls, and feeding them pleases the Mother Goddess.
This Sharadiya Navratri has started from 3 October 2024 and will continue till 11 October. In this, nine forms of Maa Durga are worshipped.
