Elon Musk reacted to an interview with the mother of the 26-year-old Indian-origin OpenAI whistleblower, who was found dead in his San Francisco apartment last year.
Musk, who was initially a backer of OpenAI, responded to the whistleblower’s mother’s claim in an interview that her son was not okay with the ChatGPT maker turning into a for-profit company.
“The reason he joined OpenAI was his belief that AI will help humanity. He was very impressed with OpenAI from the beginning because they were non-profit,” the whistleblower’s mother said in an interview with Mario Nawfal on X.
The mother said her son’s concerns began to grow when they became public.
“That’s when his anxiety started to surface and he started to question himself,” she said.
Musk responded by sharing the video of the interview with a couple of exclamation points.

Elon Musk previously supported the mother’s call for an investigation
This is not the first time Elon Musk has supported the mother in the OpenAI whistleblower death case.
It was the 26-year-old technician was found dead in his San Francisco apartment last year after speaking out against OpenAI’s policy. A medical examiner ruled his death a suicide, and San Francisco police said no evidence of foul play was found during the initial investigation. However, the 26-year-old technician’s mother has called for an FBI investigation in a post on X, casting doubt on the police conclusion that her son’s death was a suicide.
Musk, who also owns X, responded to the post, writing: “This doesn’t seem like a suicide.”
In an interview with the New York Times in October, the whistleblower told had accused OpenAI for using copyrighted data and claiming it violated the law. He also told the outlet that “technologies like ChatGPT were hurting the internet.”
