Bangladeshi operator Grameenphone and Ericsson have allied in AI and automation research, with the aim of promoting growth and promoting the digital transformation of the country’s telecoms sector.
In a Memorandum of Understanding, they laid out plans to hold technology tests and workshops to advance the AI and automation movement. Ericsson stated that it also intends to collaborate with external industry players, government bodies and regulatory authorities.
The plans focus on Ericsson’s technical capabilities, with the goal of enhancing Grameenphone’s customer experience.
Ericsson said the MoU would match Bangladesh’s goal of becoming a digital-first nation. It is also based on a relationship between the supplier and the operator from 1998.
“The technology we intend to collaborate on will transform and deliver a superior experience for our customers,” by using an “AI-first approach,” Grameenphone CIO Niranjan Srinivasan commented.
David Hagerbro, head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, said the AI and automation work would better position Grameenphone to respond to “changing customer needs and increasingly complex demands on the network”.
