ALEXANDRO BERNABEI is desperate to stay at Internacional, according to the club’s vice-president as they broke silence on their latest offer to Celtic.
The Brazilian club has to next week to agree a deal with the Parkhead club to sign Bernabei with his loan deal set to expire at the end of the year.
They have sent a take-it-or-leave-it offer to the Scottish champions this week which was reportedly for another loan deal as they had no chance to meet Celtic£7 million price tag.
And Internacional vice-president Jose Bisol has insisted they have been as honest as they can be Celtic.
He said: “Alexandro Bernabei has settled at the club. He wants to stay at Internacional.
“But we will not be financially irresponsible.
“The club has financial limits and we have laid them out for Celtic. It is up to them and I hope for a positive result.”
Bernabei has also been heavily linked with a move to Brazilian runners-up Palmeiraswho are waiting in the wings if his return to Internacional collapses.
Previous reports suggested Celts could hold out for as much as £10 MILLION for left back.
Not only has Bernabei impressed Brazil but he has been tipped for one shock call-up to join Lionel Messi and Co in Argentina’s senior team.
And it was perhaps no surprise after he was named the best left-back in Brazil due to his performances for Internacional.
In recent weeks, Celtic have been linked with a blockbuster move for former hero Kieran Tierney to strengthen the left side of their defense.
Brendan Rodgers has praised publicly Greg Taylor but a new deal doesn’t seem to be in the offing, with Scotland international’s contract that expires shortly summer.
Alex Valle is also only on loan from Barcelona and it has been claimed the Catalan giants could revocation him as soon as next week.
It probably would leave the door opens for Bernabei to either return to Celtic as Tierneyis back up (or, considering his damage historya more frequent stand-in).
