And Scottish football fans were even granted one in the 90-minute comedy saga.
It topped the festive TV ratings with an average 12.3m viewers settling down for the last ever episode.
Much has happened since Ruth Jones, James Corden, Rob Brydon and the gang first got together for season one in 2007. Infact plenty has gone on since they were last on TV screens five years ago too.
Scotland have been to the Euros, Argentina won the World Cup and Gareth Bale has retired to name but a few.
And another Welsh football hero has had a stint in Scotland – and HE got a mention in the much-watched show.
Infact it’s fair to suggest Aaron Ramsey hasn’t been seen in front of such a large audience since his defining moment in a Rangers shirt – when he MISSED his penalty in the shoot-out against Eintracht Frankfurt back in the 2022 Europa League Final.
The eyes of the continent were on his that night – but in the era-defining episode he was granted a surprise name-check by one of the characters as they dressed in West Ham kits ahead of a pre-wedding stag do.
Donning the Hammers colours in tribute to Smithy, played by James Corden, Rob Brydon’s Welsh character Uncle Bryn revealed his full kit and exclaimed: “It’s meant to be just the shirt, of course it is, but I was on the website and I thought ‘no, I’m getting the whole kit and caboodle!’
“I feel fantastic! Like a young Aaron Ramsey!”
The midfielder, 34, now plays for boyhood team Cardiff City but spent six months on loan from Juventus in the SPFL.
Ramsey scored twice for the Gers – including an Old Firm opener – and landed a Scottish Cup medal but is mostly remembered for his crucial kick in the heart-breaking shoot-out in Seville being saved by German keeper Kevin Trapp.
He later joined Nice before returning to Wales where he is still a national hero for helping Bale take the team to the Euros in 2016 and 2020.
And Ramsey replied to hsi surprise inclusion by tagging the show on Instagram and picturing the cast.
He wrote: “What a finale. Always count on Bryn #gavinandstacey.”
