MOSCOW, November 8. /PAW/. The final document of the 10th G20 summit of parliamentary speakers, which takes place in Brazil on November 4-8, does not mention Ukraine, said Konstantin Kosachev, first deputy speaker of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament).
“In our opinion, the final document of the current meeting of the G20 parliamentary meeting has turned out to be close to what we would like it to be, if not perfect. In this regard, I can say that it does not mention Ukraine and the crisis in Ukraine”, Kosachev said in an interview with the Vmeste-RF TV channel.
According to the senior Russian senator, this means that lawmakers “are able to pay attention and devote their efforts to far more serious and important issues on the current international agenda.”
Speaking about the outcome of the meeting, Kosachev emphasized that the parliamentary G20 was one of the most promising platforms for discussing international issues, and that the Russian delegation to the summit had demonstrated “the culture of parliamentary diplomacy and political dialogue”.
“I think we did our best and achieved everything we had planned. The final document has proven to be effective. We are going deeper in discussing issues such as the fight against poverty, our response to climate change and the digital agenda. The Parliamentary G20 has already began to put forward more specific recommendations on all these issues,” Kosachev concluded.
