NewZimbabwe.com has introduced a new series “GEORGE’S GDPR CORNER!” which explains, demystifies, deep dives into and critically evaluates the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018!
To those who run businesses:
Do you run a business or a charitable organisation? If the answer is yes, the question is, does your business or organisation collect and process individuals’ personal data? If so, could you be unknowingly and unintentionally breaking the UK’s General Data Protection Regulation, (UKGDPR)?
To individuals, clients and/or service users:
Are you an individual who has provided business or charitable organisations with his or her personal data? If yes, do you know how those organisations are using your data? Secondly, do you know that you have personal Data Subject Rights under the UKGDPR and if so, do you know how to exercise those rights?
GEORGE’S GDPR CORNER is a series of articles which will be published next week on the topic of UKGDPR. In this series, George will unpack and explain in plain English, both the UKGDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. He will also critically examine this legislation to help businesses, organisations and individuals alike understand why this law was passed and what it means for them.
As for those in business, George will explain and highlight, inter alia, what is expected of them under this law and what the consequences for failing to do so are.
For individuals, George will explain what their rights are, (called Data Subject Rights), under the Regulation and how such individuals can exercise them. He will also explain how the Information Commissioner’s Office can intervene, should a business or an organisation fail to honour those Rights.
He will also give specific focus to the governance of the Health or Special Category Data by those in Health and Social Care businesses.
George believes that information is power. Through these articles, he hopes to empower and raise awareness of the UKGDPR not only for those in business but the general public.
