GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – Grand Island police are investigating after a person fired shots at an occupied vehicle Monday night.
Officers responded to a shooting around 11:10 p.m. on Sheridan Place near 13th Street.
Capt. Dean Elliott said a 31-year-old man was pulling into a driveway when someone approached his vehicle with a gun. According to police, the suspect fired two shots, one hitting the vehicle’s engine compartment and one hitting the passenger side door.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been arrested. However, police said they have identified a person of interest and are trying to locate them.
Captain Elliott said he believes this was an isolated incident and the victim was the intended target. He said they are investigating whether it is related to a disturbance a few days earlier at a local bar.
No injuries were reported.
