Home Alone fans work out HUGE ‘plot hole’ about movie 34 years after it came out

IT’S one of the best loved films of the festive period, but every year Home Alone fans spot more and more plot holes.

And this year is no different, as fans have started to question why a major part of the first movie was never mentioned again.

The character takes on Marv and Harry

The movie follows the story of Kevin, who is left behind when his family travel to Paris, France, for the holidays.

Kevin then manages to see off two local burglars who break into his home thanks to a series of wild traps set up around his house.

But in the second film, viewers have noticed that Kevin never mentions the break in and it only ever alludes to him being left alone.

One person noted on reddit: “All throughout the second film, his family only ever describes him as being left alone during Christmas—never once do they refer to the fact that he fought off two thieves while he was home alone.”

Someone else added: “Remember that Kevin’s dad does find Harry’s gold tooth and with his facial expression recognizes that it’s a tooth. I always wondered how the question of where that came from is answered.”

While another person speculated: “The only reasonable explanation is that both movies take place in their own universes.”

And a further person mused: “Nobody questioned all blood, hair, burnt skin on doorknobs at the house. The family is highly non observant.”

Home Alone hit cinemas in 1990 and became the second highest grossing film of that year, raking in an impressive $476.7million worldwide.

There are currently six Home Alone movies.

The first two and the fourth movie are part of a single narrative unit focusing on the main character of Kevin.

Whereas, the other three are standalone stories, although Disney’s Home Sweet Home Alone is somehow connected to the original trilogy.

The film’s main star – Macualay Culkin – appeared in the first two Home Alone films but decided not to return for the franchise’s third instalment.
