Home Depot promises investigation after major ‘screw up’ and customer is ‘left without heat’ in freezing temperatures

A HOME Depot shopper has ranted online about the company allegedly cancelling her order for a heater in the dead of winter.

The shopper complained about the company in a post on X.

The Home Depot responded to her tweet and promised to look into the problem.

THAT’S COLD

The X user, Kristi Spencer, is a writer and motivational speaker based in Texas.

But with a cold snap plunging much of the Lone Star State into an unusual chill, she needed more than motivation to keep warm.

According to her post, she ordered a heater that never arrived.

“@HomeDepot has left me w/o heat in freezing temps, telling me the ‘vendor’ cancelled my heater order,” she said.

Home Depot uses a variety of vendors to supply its orders, meaning it may not have full control over the delivery process.

But she said she contacted the vendor, and they contradicted Home Depot’s claim.

“Spoke to vendor, who said they didn’t cancel & have plenty,” she said.

The cancellation may have come from a technical error.

“HD still telling me they can’t get me one because their “system” isn’t updated,” she said. “Seriously?”

The company responded to her on X.

“Hi Kristi, thank you for reaching out,” the Home Depot’s account said. “We understand your disappointment.”

The customer service representative behind the account, Aquilla, requested more details on the order.

It’s unclear if Kristi ever reached out with that information or if her situation was resolved.

One fellow X user also replied to Kristi, saying it was typical in their experience for Home Depot to blame a “screw up” on their vendors.

CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS

The internet is chock full of customers complaining about their experiences with some of the world’s largest companies.

That’s because of responses like The Home Depot — posting publicly on social media can be a good way to get customer service reps to notice your problem.

Some shoppers have taken issue with Home Depot for its return policy, for example.

Grocery store Aldi recently received pushback from a tourist over its customer service and bag charges.

Costco shoppers have realized a new food court snack is pricier than the chain’s $1.50 hot dog — but there’s a reason why.

Others blasted the self-checkout system at Sam’s Club.
