I played with Deion Sanders at Dallas Cowboys and won three Super Bowls – his son Shedeur can be franchise quarterback

FORMER Dallas Cowboys star Troy Aikman believes Shedeur Sanders has what it takes to become a legit franchise quarterback.

The ESPN pundit and NFL Hall of Fame inductee played with Sanders’ dad Deion, who now manages his son’s Colorado college side.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is predicted among the top picks for the NFL draft

Shedeur is predicted to be among the Top Five picks of the 2025 NFL draft.

And Aikman believes the 22-year-old QB has what it takes to succeed as a pro.

Aikman told TMZ: “I do think he’s a franchise quarterback. I love his game.”

“I’ve obviously been watching him for a number of years. I know his father intimately well and wish him the best, of course, as well.

“What Shedeur has been able to do has been remarkable. You know, to start first, going back to when he was young, before he went off to college. But, you know, success has followed him.

“It’s not a surprise for anyone who’s followed Deion’s career and what he’s done as a coach as well. So I’m excited for Colorado.

“I’m excited for Shedeur and really looking forward to seeing what he might do at the NFL level. My expectation is that he’s going to have a hell of a career.”

Former Super Bowl champ and MVP Aikman has been a fan of Sanders ever since he was dominating on high school football fields.

There’s not much more to prove if you’re Shedeur, but he wants to finish his college career in the right way.

He’ll play his final college game in the Alamo Bowl against BYU, alongside teammate and Heisman winner Travis Hunter.

Colorado will be looking for their first bowl victory since 2004, when they beat UTEP 33-28, in the 2004 EV1.net Houston Bowl.

In 12 games this season, Sanders saved his best for last.

He had 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 74.2 per cent completion percentage.

In two seasons at Colorado, Sanders has 7,156 yards, 62 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 71.8 per cent completion percentage.H

Both Sanders and wide receiver Hunter are expected to be among the first and second overall picks of the 2025 draft.

It’s no secret that the Giants are in desperate need for a franchise quarterback this offseason.

The Las Vegas Raiders, who are also in dire need for a quarterback, currently have the first overall pick.

Sanders has been linked to the Raiders as well.

And Aikman believes Shedeur won’t be only Sanders competing in the NFL next season.

He believes dad Deion may yet be on the sidelines with the Cowboys in 2025 despite his Colorado stance.

Aikman added: “I do know that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is a world-class marketer.

“Deion is obviously not far behind that, and I think if you were to put the two together, it would be quite interesting. I think there’s some compelling reasons as to why Jerry might have an interest.”

In four-plus seasons with the Cowboys, Mike McCarthy is 48-33 with three playoff appearances.

Dallas have struggled this season, however, as the team is just 6-8 and will likely miss the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
