WALMART has come under fire from skeptical social media users who have been left baffled by the retail giant’s new logo.
The retail giant was ripped by dozens online who were left scratching their heads over what had changed.
Designers made a series of subtle changes to the iconic supermarket logo.
The Walmart lettering is thicker, the yellow stems are broader, and the background is royal blue.
The logo change was the first since 2008, and company bosses called the move a refresh.
But, it has sparked a flurry of discussion online.
“Is this a joke?” one viewer said.
“It looks exactly the same.”
“Walmart just unveiled their new logo,” another shopper chimed.
“It looks the f**king same.”
Others struggled to understand why chiefs had designed to make a change.
“Does anybody know the reason of this minimal change?” another asked.
Because of the apparent minimal change, shoppers said they were surprised the company hired designers to make the tweaks.
Skeptical social media users struggled to make comparisons as they put the old and new logos side-by-side.
“Can you tell which is old and which is new?” one shopper asked.
Shoppers also turned to memes to mock the retailer.
‘WARMING’ LOGO
One clever social media user shared a picture of a man wearing a checkered shirt beaming as he received the exact same item as a gift.
William White, the retailer’s chief marketing officer, said the Walmart of 2025 differs from that of 2008.
“We are more modern, we are more digital,” he told Fortune.
“The changes are meaningful in terms of giving a little bit more life and energy to the spark, making it richer and fuller and giving it more depth.”
Shoppers should expect to see the retailer’s refreshed logo on the brand’s website, in-store, and on apps, according to Marketing Dive.
David Hartman, the Walmart vice-president of creative, said customers have voiced positive feedback.
He claimed shoppers feel the new logo is warm and inviting.
Chiefs confirmed that stores will have the new logo installed over the coming years.
