Jalen Hurts reveals ban in his contract stops him playing sport with Eagles teammates after Barack Obama meet up

JALEN Hurts has revealed that he was not allowed to play golf with Barack Obama due to a clause in his contract.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, 26, signed a five-year, $255million deal in April 2023.

Hurts‘ mega-deal will keep him in Philly until 2028.

But as part of the agreement, the QB can’t enjoy a round of golf with friends… or former Presidents.

This week he headed to Merion Golf Club alongside running back Saquon Barkley and team owner Jeffrey Lurie.

Among the group was former President Obama, but Hurts was not able to test his skills against the 63-year-old’s.

During a chat with CBS Sports, Hurts recounted meeting Obama on the golf course.

“To see him out there enjoying himself and talking a little trash, that was cool,” he said.

“I told him he didn’t want these problems just yet. I can’t golf right now. By contract, I can’t golf. His day will come.”

Hurts was then effusive in his praise of Obama.

“An all-time leader, a great presence,” Hurts said. “I guess the word is down to earth.

“I can only imagine that lifestyle and the different things that come with that…

“Every time I’ve been able to speak with them, be in their presence, it’s always been a fruitful conversation. Nothing aimless about it.

“I feel left their presence as a better person, a more wiser person.

“Honestly, I hope to have the same impact on them too.”

Barkley, meanwhile, thinks that Hurts is keen to give golf a go, once his contractual situation allows.

“I think he got the bug there,” the 27-year-old said.

“I think he got to see how fun it is. It was kinda like relaxing too.

“To be able to get away and take your mind off the game, every little bit helps.”

The Eagles have begun the season with a 5-2 record.

They were most recently in action last Sunday, winning 37-17 against the Bengals in Cincinnati.

Next up, they host the 2-6 Jacksonville Jaguars tomorrow at Lincoln Financial Field.
